I think the most annoying part about this is how easy the fix is.
Ghosts are on the weapon side of the character menu, and artifacts are on the right side. So, you could use any weapons to infuse into the ghost to level it up and any armor to infuse into the artifact to level it up. In order to make it a little more difficult, they could make it so it had to be a legendary or higher that is dismantled for the infusion. At around 375, it could then be changed that only exotics can be dismantled for the infusion, but there would be no other resource costs like marks or glimmer. This would still maintain the "grind", since you would still have to get better gear to infuse, but since any weapon/armor can be used, it would also give the player more choices of what to dismantle, slightly offsetting the necessity for using the exotics.
I just solved the problem bungie. I accept cash, check, or money order.

I don't like the idea of having a single strike that needs to be repeated just to advance these two items. That's the problem with having to constantly do the same raid just to get anywhere, especially up through TTK. Knowing bungie, if they made this special strike, they would make the light level requirement for entry way too high. It's an interesting idea, but it needs a little tweaking. In the director, you could choose an alternate version of a strike playlist that has a much higher chance of dropping ghosts and artifacts. It would be the same strike, but it would increase the chances of those drops. This would mean that you would only want to do it if you needed to upgrade the ghost and artifact, because you're not going to get a lot of other stuff. They could even make it so you have to pay some glimmer, like 250, in order to change it. Also, everybody wouldn't even have to choose to do the "alternate strike". It could just change the drops for you, while keeping everybody else the same if they choose to do so. Another simple solution to a stupid problem.
