If the system stays the same as it is now, exotics will decrypt into items that are 1-5 light levels higher than your currently equipped light level. Make sure you have plenty of motes, armor/weapon parts, glimmer, and materials in order to have everything you need for multiple infusions. Keeping this in mind, decrypt engrams accordingly. The following is what I beleive will be the most efficient method: Have a set of legendary gear that you really like. This must be comprised of legendaries only, because you will be infusing exotics into these legendaries, and you may need to equip an exotic at some point, so have all legendary weapons, and all legendary armor. Infuse this set of legendary gear to the highest light level that you can possible have. Ideally, this will be 335. Put everything in your vault that you need to, so that all your extra slots are filled with as many blues as possible. Decrypt 1 blue, and then if it is higher light, infuse it into your legendary. Rotate the type of engram that you decrypt, so that you decrypt your lowest light slot each time. After decrypting something of a higher light level, immediately equip it so that your light level raises. Rais your light level by equipping gear everytime you can, before decrypting another engram. Example: If all your gear is 335, decrypt a helmet. The helmet decrypts at say, 338. Now decrypt your gloves. It decrypts at 339. Next move on to chest, boots, class item, primary, secondary, and heavy. Ghosts and Artifacts of course will randomly pop in, since they do not have dedicated engrams. After this process, let's say your overall light level is now 340. Decrypt your lowest light level slot next. In this example, let's say it's the boots at 337. So you take your blue boot engram, and decrypt it. Since your boots are 336, but light level of decryption is based off of overall light level of 340, you are guaranteed that your boots will decrypt at 4 or more higher than your current boots. If your highest light level item is 343 helmet, and your overall light level is 340, if you decrypt a helmet engram, it could possible drop at 340, 341, 342, 343, which would not raise your overall light level. So decrypt the engrams in order of your lowest light level slot first. As different slots change light level, move to decrypt the current lowest slot. I reccomend starting with your blues, because that will give you a little boost at the start, if they decrypt higher than your overall light level, and if they decrypt at lower light, it's not a big loss. Next, move on to exotics. Save Legendaries for last, because currently, legendary engrams drop at lower light levels, and exotics guarantee higher, or equal, light levels than current levels. Use the same method described above, decrypting your lowest light level slot first. If you get an exotic you want to keep, then save it. If you decrypt an exotic that you already have, or don't want, equip it for the higher light level, then decrypt your next exotic. I reccomend equipping higher light gear whenever possible as opposed to immediately infusing the gear, because constant infusing uses resources quickly. Once you have multiple exotics that cannot be equipped together, then infuse what you need to before continuing the process. After going through this method: Decrypt > Equip > Infuse > Equip > Decrypt again You should raise at least one light level each time you decrypt an exotic. Hopefully RNG isn't cruel enough to give you only one light level each time, and you raise a little faster than that. If you reach max light from your exotics and still have some left over, change to your other characters and repeat the process with them. After you have decrypted all your exotics, save the ones you want to keep in your vault, and infuse your legendary set(s) the way you want it/them set up. Now I reccomend saving a lot of high level exotics that are left over, and decrypting your legendaries. Go test out the legendaries and find the ones you like, then use your remaining exotics to infuse them. Sorry if this was long and kinda confusig, I'm wirting this on my phone on a work nreak. TL;DR Blues first: Decrypt>Equip>Decrypt>Equip Exotics second: Decrypt>Equip>When multiples can not be equipped, Infuse>Equip>Decrypt

Dont decrypt them all at once or they will be more or less the same light. Open 1 at a time. Fuse, bump your light level up, then open another and so on.

I was interested in knowing which to do 1st as well, play the endgame content (nightfall etc) and then start decoding once the content is looted, or pop all the engrams and then do the content. (make sure you put your light up to max on each decode, it helps). I'm thinking to pop half of em up front, do the content and then pop the other half. I have 40 weapon and 40 armour saved so far, so If I pop 20 on each then do the content and come back and pop the rest. (also popping loot from new content and possibly new 3oC engrams too. hopefully works out. I'm also thinking to save some for after hard mode raid drops to go for max light there also.

All these people trying to put down people for saving engrams, sound like idiots. Who cares if they don't drop at a higher level (which they will as we know) you still need exotic shards and also it can help level up your crypt tarch. So there is pros then cons to saving engrams. So to those who have saved engrams I salute you.

1. Exotic engrams are for the shards and higher light level exotic drops. They won't drop any new ones but should be at a higher light level. 2. Legendary engrams are for legendary marks to buy vendir stuff and upgrade/infuse. 3. You may also want to consider stocking up on heavy synths and motes of light to put into the factions. 4. Get some 3oC this weekend(if you get lucky with them often enough) so you can pop dome while playing.

Only use engrams when you cannot reach a higher light from either the story or strikes in time, or archons forge which will drop max light gear eventually. When you do decrypt your engrams (exotics especially, but I have multiple legendaries stashed too), decrypt them one at a time, then use them to increase your light level as high as possible before opening the next one.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the only time hoarding engrams ever worked was April Update. That was not a new DLC, just a small content dump. Did not work in TDB Did not work in HoW Did not work in TTK. Again, correct me if i'm wrong but there seems to be a trend here that ppl are missing.

They might not give new stuff but they might increase our light levels, as well as level up cryptach to get more packages. I personally think it doesn't hurt to stash a few or even as many as you can. many players have nothing to lose they have all the exotics and are 335.

All paid expansions since the release of Destiny have had the engrams time stamped.

If you happen to go over a faction/vanguard/crucible before next week, you should just leave the package and try to edge up again. It may not be a ROI package waiting, but it doesn't hurt to find out.

I plan on running the story, to it's completion and getting as high of light level as I can. I may add a quest in there as well. Once that is done, I will have a lot of fun. 120+ exotic engrams 40+ legendary engrams 4000 heavy 4100 motes 150 strange coins 200 legendary marks 159 legendary marks in 6 bounties I am holding 3000 weapon parts 3000 armor mats 400 3oC 50000 glimmer in consumables 25000 glimmer on my character A few Crucible bounties to rank it up once A few Vanguard bounties to rank it up once Currently I have vanguard, crucible, fwc, nm, do, and gunsmith edged up on 2 characters and am done with them. Using the 3rd this week to mess around and he will be done as well. Story will be done quickly on Tuesday and I will spend the rest of the day ranking up factions and opening engrams.

1) IF the exotic engrams aren't time stamped then it would be better to level up as much as you can from story missions and other things like Archon Forge. On the day your team tries the raid, best to decrypt as many as you need to get to the level needed to be effective. Equip highest light and infuse as much as you need but reset each time you have a higher light. One would argue that getting three characters to say 370 is better than trying to get one to 390 and rest at 355. Really your call. 2) IF the exotics are time stamped and therefore locked at max 335, then hopefully you had your cryptarch rank on all three characters close to level up so you can maximize turning the engrams in and get a few cryptarch packages. Either way I think a [u][b]chance[/b][/u] to get higher light gear from the engrams or the [b][u]certainty[/u][/b] to get higher cryptarch level then packages is better than just getting a bunch of 335 gear today.

I feel like everyone stashing and stocking up will be the ones complaining about there not being enough content after a week.

Heres hoping they are gonna decrypt into new exotics!

I have a feeling once ROI officially drops engrams will not decrypt ROI loot. In think Trespasser was a teaser to create more hype.

Have about 50 exotic engrams in my vault! Can't wait, it's gonna be like Christmas!!
