Can you get energy from water? yes. by manipulating water flow(or taking advantage of gravity) to turn a turbine creating kenetic energy. water itself is not energy. Also the grimior is filled with references to void light, and the description of a nova bomb talks about turning the travels light into energy. So yes it is mostly energy, but it is still light in some form.
