I'm a vanilla player, I admit it y2 grind wasn't even grind for me tbh. The grindiest it got was the exotic swords and even then collecting those materials wasn't grindy enough. I've been thru worse back when you couldn't buy materials
Every era had atleast one awesome part about it. HoW idk just something i did like. Thorn meta no. Vanilla will always be missed. Rip VoG. Tdb gave us black hammer :D
Ahhh, I remember the days where I would get upset with people because they were ruining my farming route for materials. :<
So glad I don't have to do that anymore. I also miss my Fatebringer, Black Hammer, Gjallarhorn combo that would destroy and pummel everything. Fun fact, I was only a few of my friends that bought Gjallarhorn week two, lol. I tried to talk them into it, and let me tell you. They regret not heading my word.
The grind for Fatebringer/Vision of Confluence, Black Hammer, and Gjallahorn was so real
When people talked about how OP MIDA is, and they could never even imagine what pre nerfed Vex Mythoclast was like. It was way more oppressive than year 1 Suros, Thorn or Last Word. It's kill time with crowd control was literally less than half a second...
When nightfalls were not only worth it and rewarding, but you hadn't done VoG yet and it was Arc Burn + the unspeakable Lightswitch.. that modifier was just... war flashbacks. And if you died you're back to orbit.
When we scoured the raid for HOURS believing there was something else in there
Shooting into the loot cave for hours trying to get a legendary engram only for it to turn blue.
If you were a hunter trying to do the Thorn bounty
So many things. Is the game better now? Arguably. But that doesn't mean sometimes I don't wish I could relive the greatest moments I've had playing this game. When I got my first collateral in crucible, having pre nerf Hawkmoon (RIP forever my old partner), soloing the Templar at 95% health when my fireteam died at the beginning, on hard. Learning to sword Crota the first time, doing my first Nightfall (got the Hawkmoon. RIP again), getting my first legendary weapon, the dead orbit handcannon with explosive rounds, blink shotgunning, final round snipers, and so much more. I hope there's a game in the future that can give me so much wonder and that kind of experience again. No mans sky didn't live up to hype. I wonder if I'll ever feel like I did then
Wanting the Shattered Vault Cloak and not getting it until light was separated from level (as well as the onset of cloaks even having stats to begin with) there for making the cloak useless....
The hunt for the treasure chest in the abyss.
Guardian 2: I'll see if the treasure chest there.
Guardian 1: Is the light at the door glowing?
Guardian 2: no it's not, heading back.
Guardian 3: "Get out, the hives are coming!"
Guardian 2: I can't move, the weight of darkness.
Guardian 4: focus all you fire power at the hive.
Guardian 2: Noooooooo! Ahhhhhh!
"Guardian down"
Guardian 5: everyone wipe.
