We are insignificant.
You are insignificant. I am insignificant. We are all insignificant in this unfathomably large universe that has no reason to care about a single species that doesn't help its own kind in need and that still kills each other over skin color, what others want to do with their genitals, and which version of the invisible man in the sky to believe in.
Let go. It will set you free.

Humanity has been around for so little compared to this world. It makes you wonder why we do this. Our tiniest problems are truly so insignificant and we waste our lives working. Working for things that will be useless in a short period of time. Why do we waste our time fighting over being a man or a woman. It truly does not matter. It may make you feel better, but in this vast world it means nothing. We means nothing. So why are we here? What is our purpose? Are we truly the only self-aware creatures on this planet, and if so why? Why are we like this but fish are not? How did everything work out that humans turned out exactly like this? The odds of that must be so astronomically low that it seems impossible. And here we are, wasting it all worrying over petty matters and killing each other for no reason. The world is beautiful. Why do we segregate ourselves from it, guard ourselves in our houses, waste time with cheap distractions? Our existence is a mystery. So I must ask, why [i]are[/i] we here? What is the purpose of life?

As humans we make a big impact at where we're most concentrated. So of course we're insignificant to the universe. But we're significant on earth because we affect the planet and each other. Sometimes it's a good effect, other times it's a bad effect, but it's still there. However, if you were to think using multiverse theory, then you could argue that one human impacts the universe greatly because there's at least one universe where that human is different or doesn't exist.

You are energy, energy derived from the constant energy of the universe. You function using the universe's energy, and although it my be insignificant, it is still a very minute amount of energy. All you have to do now, is think in a more micro scale, one suiting to us. When we look into the micro scale, we're in the context of our solar system, Earth, our continent, our city, and our town. On these scales our actions have meaning, they directly effect every other being on our planet. And while yes, our actions may not have significant consequences throughout the universe, they sure as hell have an effect on our scale.

If it's all insignificant, then why would one of that mindset bother trying to convince others that their opinion is the truth? Clearly, not everyone is 'set free' by the same ideas. Happiness is so important and doesn't appear to have a universal definition. The flat earth guy was way more fun. I miss him, where did he go? :/
