Husbands/Dads of Destiny, How?
How do you juggle your family and work schedules and still find time to play Destiny? I'm a husband and not yet a father, work a full time job, just bought a house, and am currently enrolled in full time class.
I really enjoy all aspects of Destiny (save the stuff that most people have legit gripes towards like lag, RNG nut shots, etc) but when it comes to actually setting aside time to play I start to feel like my time would be better spent elsewhere.
I can't be the only one, and if anyone else has dealt with this and come to any conclusions after two years of nuking aliens and tearing the heads off of their fellow Guardians, please let me know how you explain your love for this game to your wife and kids. I think your feedback will be super valuable to others in our shoes who are contemplating some of the same things.

1 답변I work full time, I have a wife, a daughter, and one more on the way. I usually play early mornings before everyone wakes up. IMHO, school is more important than video games. I would put all my free time in that, and whatever leftover would go to gaming. I have a masters degree btw

5 답변I'm working and Dad of 3 small kids. I play Wednesday and Sunday night for 3-4 hours. The odd "bonus" day if I have a day off work during the week , my wife is at work and my kids are at day care, then it is GAME ON! ;-) Otheriwse, prioritise your life over a video game. I've already put 26 or so days into this game since December 2014... too much but its fun :)

Full time job, wife, 4 year old and a house to take care of... There are weeks where I don't even turn my system on and there are weeks where I get to play for an hour or three, up to 4 times a week. Usually it's after the boy has gone to bed and the wife is either asleep or watching one of her shows. Destiny is my TV time; other than The Walking Dead and Face/Off, I don't watch much TV without a controller in my hands. If I was investing time in any type of schooling, I doubt I'd play much if any at all.

I was in your shoes but a long time ago. Trying to work, go to school and be a father of four. The truth is you can't when you have that kind of time consuming load. Things that are more important should come before play time. I didn't get back into gaming until I got Zelda for my kids and by then I was done with school. I used games as a bonding tool and still do to this day as my sons, their friends and wives all play together. It's a place we can gather to have some fun and catch up without having to leave the comfort of your home. For now I would look at what's really important and at the same time look forward the future.

16 답변Guess I'm lucky. I'm 49, a business owner, husband and father to 3 grown kids 25 and twins at 26, 27 next week as a matter of fact. My wife has her own console and plays, as well as our son. We have our own in-house 3 man fireteam! I don't play Destiny much anymore though as the content is stale and PvP? Well I won't even get into why I don't bother with that either. You just have to make the time, if you could get your wife interested that would help a TON. If not you two should sit and have a talk, I'm sure she has her "me" time, I don't know any woman who doesn't. Just explain to her that what's fair is fair. You should have "me" time also, just use yours to play video games, it's a stress reliever and can be quite therapeutic. As long as the lag and glitching isn't too bad at the time of course.

My kids play with me - usually a couple of hours after work - it helps that my girl mostly works nights and weekends I can do most daily bounties with all 3 character in an hour I do challenge of elders 1 character per day

to be honest, that why I only play PvP 10 to 12 min matches..and im done only bad part is I only have a chance at FWC and crucible rep rank packages for loot, and its usually no good so, its business or game , man ..make your choice

8 답변I am a home owner who works 40-45 hours a week, take 2 night classes, have a wife, a toddler and a newborn. When/if I play destiny it's normally from 11pm-2am. Something has to give, and it's usually sleep.

Play when they've gone to bed. 10pm to 1am ish...just like the rest of us. 2-4 nights per week usually. You'll find that there is typically the same group of people on at given times, so making friends and playing together shouldn't be much of an issue...

4 답변I'm 36, college grad with honours, married, own a house and two vehicles, work full time(45+ hours a week) have three kids(5,3 and 1)...cook dinner every day and all three meals the days I'm off, my wife and I split the household chores(I cook, vacuum, maintain the yard/house/trash and recycling, and handle mine and my wife's laundry she does the kids')..... I play when the kids are either napping in the afternoon or are in bed and sleeping for the night. Bedtime routine starts at 6:30 and they're usually sleeping before 8.

2 답변Well, I've been a gamer my whole life. Having said that, there were times when I was a father I didn't have time at all to play. I coached football, basketball and baseball while my boys were growing up so there was no time for games. My wife back then hated me playing video games cause I wasn't paying any attention to her. Since those times, my sons have grown to young men, I divorced my wife (not because she wouldn't let me play). I 're-married a woman gamer and we play together almost every night for a couple hours. I guess what I'm saying is, right now you have priorities that have to be met. In time, you'll be able to play. You have more important things to do right now.

you will find a rhythm to know when you can play. I stopped playing when my little bit came into the world but it was just her and me during the weekdays. But now that she is older we game together 3-4 times a week. Those moments I wouldn't trade for the world.

1 답변You'll have time dad2be. You'll have time. First year of bubs life can be hectic but they do sleep an awful lot....albeit in short blocks unless you're lucky. They also crash out way before adults do so there's free time then. But when they get older they'll wanna hog the ps4 (or PS8 by then) so I actually bit the bullet and bought a second one. Now my little guy loves playing a bit of Destiny with his dad. All boring stuff....nothing too complicated....but he gets a kick outta it and so will you.

1 답변I'm married and have a new born. My play time is typically 11pm to 1 or 2am but not every night. You sacrifice sleep brother. Lucky for me I game with guys who are in similar situations so we text each other and make plans days in advance, to which I let the wife know when I'll be playing and typically she's cool with it. All my friends are 335 (I gave up on destiny when my son was born for about four months) but I don't get butt hurt if they complete things without me because I know they'll help me run through it so I can geared up. I work 50-60 hours a week and am taking two classes. Some nights I have to do homework so I don't play every night. It's all about your friends list man and if those said friends are willing to help you out when needed. Keep plugging away man, you'll find the balance of everything.

4 답변Full time job, father of two daughters, married, was a coach and a triathlete. I was training for Ironman competitions for years. My secret? I'm an insomniac. I train and play when my family is doing their thing. I play a little here and there, but will drop what I am doing if they need me in a moments notice. Usually early in the morning or late at night is when I can put time together, when the house is quiet. I used to run with a clan, but my schedule is disrupted enough I decided that wasn't fair to clanmates, so now I play solo exclusively. I don't even LFG, because I would need to mic up, and since I play when the house is quiet, speaking (and shouting!) over a mic would wake the house. Better I just don't get into that stuff. That's a shame too... I used to raid all the time in year one. My Titan is my character I kept from that time, and it has several completions. I had an equal number on the other two characters before I deleted them a year ago. However, it's the right thing to do for me. Ninety minutes into a raid someone walks in and needs me, I have to go. That's going to leave some unhappy people in the lurch. Despite this, I have been able to max all three characters. You can solo Nightfalls and CoE, and both will give you weapons, armor, artifacts, and ghosts at max level. Court of Oryx is good - if you can find people there. Farm ultras for exotics which you use or infuse. Run patrols, gain rep, just grind. If you enjoy PvP, the max thing doesn't matter much, and the matches are short enough you can get through one without too much trouble, and if you have to jump out mid-match, well... that happens all the time anyway.
