It's lost on me already, the server issues are understandable due to the game being for more succesful than they thought but I don't understand the battle system used in Gyms. If you're defending you're at a massive disadvantage even if your pokemon are twice as powerful as your opposition because they can just spam their screen into oblivion. The competitive side of pokemon is what I enjoy most and the game has sucked the life and soul out of it completely. ( ͡° _ʖ ͡°)

Also the Pokemon are completely random. I've walked around my town a few times and never found any Pokemon. I open the game up once in awhile at my apartment and found a few rares. Besides, getting pokeballs takes forever, especially considering the higher level you are the harder everything is to catch. You really don't have much better odds to get rare pokemon with a higher level either, at least not noticeably. It's going to be a worn out game soon enough unless they add much more to it.

I think most bandwagoners quit already. Now it's mostly Pokemon fans playing. I'd say the faster the developers can push out the updates we need the longer the game will last. If trading and battling in the wild doesn't get implemented within the next 6 months, expect a huge decline in the player base by then.

Honestly if it wasn't pokemon then everyone would complain how bad it is. The servers are absolute crap, even a week+ into the game. The game itself is absolutely bare at the moment. No trading? I can't see other players? I can't battle anyone other than at gyms? All things that have been staples in previous pokemon games, why leave them out? The game constantly freezes too. Either i can no longer interact with the screen to catch pokemon or use pokestops or it freezes during the capture animation.

I think they're going to solve the server issue by finding a way to reduce the number of requests. I think that every action is a server request, they can get rid of that relatively easily. An example, I'm going to transfer my 20 rats. There's 20 server requests. Make it so I can select all 20 at one time, just reduced that activity by a lot. Increase the size of the area I have info for. It doesn't need to update every 10 meters, it can update every 30 or 40. (Those are arbitrary numbers). I think it's like going to a grocery store and paying for every item individually. I expect the big dropoff to occur around mid-November when half the base starts getting into colder temps. I still gotta take the dog for walks, so I'll prolly still do it, but I'm guessing few are going to brave zero (F) wind chills to do it.

Their servers are fantastic to even be able to support this many people. Just too many damn people, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger launch than they anticipated.
-
The people who are playing it who have never played Pokemon will probably lose interest in a few weeks. The people like me who've played every main Pokemon game will probably stay for at least a year, depending on updates probably longer.
-
Servers will cost them but in a few months everyone will come back. Eventually by the time they work on more pokémon and trading and stuff, about one third of the people will play it and it will stay like that for a few years.

The reason the servers are so shit is because millions of people are literally all playing and creating accounts all at once. It is one of the most popular games to have existed is pokemon. That's why they had to slowly release it everyone like here in Canada we only just got it 2 days ago. Play later after around 7 and it will be better. Trust me, I have been salty all day today because of the servers. Lost an Evee and a Wartortle because the app crashed. Been struggling just to even start the game. Give it a month or two before the servers get a lot better. Remember GTA Online? When that first released I could not play for 2 weeks and I saw that stupid intro 14 times(not an exaggeration). Point is just give it time and will get better.
