Trials changes!

So bungie always wants to stress the competition side of trials so here is a great idea... For the next trials i.e. Rise of Iron dlc It should be setup in a tier system for instance 7 separate tiers. Once you go flawless one time on your account you hit tier 1 and all your future games are against tier 1. When you hit flawless again you go tier 2 and play only fireteams with a tier 2 player. This would go all the way to 7 tiers you know cause bungie loves 7! Imagine watching the fireteams battle out in tier 7. This also helps the masses with having a legitimate chance of actually reaching the lighthouse with their friends without having to hope for carry from a raffle. I forgot to add an important point someone pointed out, yes this would reset with every weekly reset just as everything else does ;) Another note worthy idea to stop the carries from happening with people manipulating the system would be that the fireteam has to have the same card i.e. Same amount of wins and boons applied I'd also like to add that this could actually solve the SBMM issue too by going to connection based because the tier systems is already taking the SBMM into account

  • And make it inferno so that people don't just watch their radars honestly! I have killed sooo many crucible players because they walk past me while I'm crouched thinking "Oh hey, that guy isn't making my radar flash red must just be a lagging team member!" Like really?

  • Why not make it 3 tiers so that there is a bit more competition. I haven't gotten to the lighthouse yet but that tiered system just sounds easy. If there were only 3-4 tiers then there would be more competition to get to those lighthouses each time, I believe.

    This would make lag even worse. You cant have systems like this because it lowers the player base in each pool. It needs to be connection based 100%.

      • No. The Lighthouse isn't a goddamn participation trophy. If you want to go to the Lighthouse, go out and -blam!-ing earn it. Run into some tough competition along the way? Tough shit. It happens. Pick your ass up and try again.

        • Getting to the lighthouse should feel luxurious as stated by BUNGIE. If every player could eventually get there it wouldn't feel as awesome. Trails was specifically designed for top tier PVP players. It would be pretty stupid to hand out these top tier rewards to any pvp scrub.

        • There should be achievements that not everyone can get. There should be things that you have to work for and sometimes even when you work as hard as you can, you can still fail. That beings said, getting to the lighthouse might be an accomplishment but should the lighthouse itself be the accomplishment. Yeah kids wanna get to the lighthouse, but why? For the grimoire card maybe? I don't know but as a space in destiny it probably should be open to everyone who competes and just have rewards that are exclusive to people who win. Maybe then less people will want to be carried. Maybe not. Exclusive rewards, I think it's great An exclusive location as a pseudo-reward, I think it has a negative impact.

            It doesn't need to be nearly that convoluted. Just make it 2 tiers on weekly basis. If anyone one your fire-team has gone flawless in the current week, you'll only be matched against other fire-teams where at least one member has been flawless. If no one on your fire team has been flawless in the current week, then you'll only be matched against other fire teams where no one has been flawless. Resets every week. Simple and I think it would make trials a lot more fun overall.

            There are too many logistics to implement what you're suggesting and basically goes against everything of what trials is about. I'm sorry if you have a hard time finding team mates that can get you there. All I can say is you need to practice more. Based on your stats, a lot more. The lighthouse should stay exclusive. It shouldn't be an easy ride. If it were, then the nostalgia, prestige, awards, notoriety, passion, sense of accomplishment and everything else associated with it would be meaningless. Also, I will try and help you if you're on XB1 and an Adult. Message me. We do carries on Saturdays. Free of charge. No raffle for you.

            • I really like this idea, at this point going 9-0 in the trials really isn't an accomplishment. But if you were to say you went 9-0 in the tier 7 trials (if it existed) that would impress me. I actually couldn't care less about the rewards, for me it's all about the good competition that would come from advancing tiers.

              If you aren't good enough to go to the lighthouse, you have the raid and iron banner. Trials is the only reason I continue to play destiny. I'm definitely a part of that fire team with 2,000 ELO and on a huge winstreak and that has already gone flawless but me and my friends just enjoy playing until we lose which doesn't happen often. Last night we played well beyond 9-0 on our card. Apologies to any flawless runs we destroyed but that's how it goes when u aren't good enough at pvp endgame

              • LOL! all the elo farmers would just never go flawless and purposely delete their cards at 8-0. So what would happen is that tier 1 would consist of scrubs + 3000 elo guys all weekend :L

                • Can we just have side switching? Black shield is a nightmare unless you spawn on the one side. And there are a lot of other maps like that. Just have it switch sides every round

                  • Carries keep the streamers going, which in turn promotes Destiny, which in turn helps Bungie get new players and keep old players playing. Without Trials carries most people would have quit this game long ago. Especially if they could go 9-0 witout anyone helping. I know it isn't great to hear, but if it wasn't for Twitch carries this game would have died long ago. Nobody watches people raid.

                        • Simple way is get rid of the boons all but mercy. That way if a player requires a carry, the carrier has to go with them to the lighthouse. Then just make it once flawless on one character, all you play afterwards is other 9-0 players. That's a idea. But I'm also happy with the way trials is now. Just gets a bit annoying seeing useless players just being carried.
