I would rather have my figurative teen daughter get an abortion than make her keep it, and make her life Hell, along with the dad's and the kid's. It would make school nearly impossible, and completely derail her life. Obviously I'd hammer the idea of safe sex into her head beforehand, but kids are stupid sometimes.

Here's some facts for you righteous folk to chew on: 1. Teenagers have sex. 2. Teenagers have been having sex since the dawn of humanity because that's what their bodies and hormones tell them to do. No amount of bible beating will change biology. 3. Birth control can fail. 4. A large percentage of teenagers today can't emotionally deal with the internet being down for a day, let alone being parents. Teenagers are going to get pregnant. The only debate should be about how best to prevent what teen pregnancy we can and what to do for the ones who do get pregnant. There is no blanket answer for everyone. One person may want to have the baby and give it up for adoption. Fine. Another may find themselves in circumstances where abortion is their only option. That's also ok. There. Is. No. One. Answer. Mother has a supportive family who is helping her through it and they want to go through the pregnancy and some nice rich family wants to adopt it. That's great. What about the girl whose condom broke and she got pregnant because she can't afford or can't access Plan B and she has not a single soul on her side? Boyfriend says she's just some slut, parents disown her, everyone at school makes fun of her and gives her no benefit of the doubt. What does she see as her only option? Now what if she got pregnant by a rapist? Her brother? That actually happened in my town. A guy got his teenage sister pregnant. She should go ahead and have that baby? A baby that she never wanted, didn't consent to the sex that led to it, can't afford any part of, and has a high exchange of having major medical problems due to inbreeding. But she was the dumbass who got pregnant in the first place, right? She deserves to deal with the consequences, if you ask society. That is sickening. Here's some other truths about this issue no one talks about. You can force people to have babies they don't want by banning abortion, but there's nothing you can do to force them to care for those babies. Then what happens to them? Adoption can only be accomplished by rich people. You can be the kindest, most caring parents on earth but if you're poor you have no chance of adopting a baby. The system sells babies for thousands of dollars in the name of adoption. Another factor is that our child welfare system is already operating over capacity and kids are dying in poorly governed foster homes as we speak. There's some hope for newborns to get adopted, but once a kid turns 7 or so, they become unmarketable for adoption. Don't even think about finding a stable home if you make it to your teen years in the foster care system, because everyone is too afraid you're going to -blam!- their kids or murder them in their sleep or something. Pretty much all the government-run orphanages and institutions have been closed because they can't even afford to keep them running. So what do we do with all these kids we forced people to have because religious people think abortion is wrong? Will every person who said we can't have abortions volunteer to take one of those unwanted babies? Will they all donate to housing and medical care for them? I doubt it. It's someone else's problem once you've forced the kid to be born to people who have no intention of caring for it. The moral of the story is unless you're footing the bill for the child keep your nose in your business, and what happens in someone else's womb sure as shit ain't your business.

There's a problem with teen pregnancy because telling them not to do something doesn't work for shit and it will never do so. It's not a facet of bad parenting, or even an inadequate moral spectrum, it's the hormone increases of adolescent development that influence rebellion and short sightedness. If there's a strong enough impulse, they will do something because they're emotionally unstable. A majority male congress has no part in deciding what a woman does with her body. Abort that bitch.

Maybe this wouldn't have happened if she didn't test sexual compatibility. The Judeo-Christian laws were in place for reasons other than "because we blindly do what we're told."

Where's option of the teenager being responsible?...or parents having good family values and raising the teenager with the ability to wait to do adult actions when they're responsible enough to deal with the repercussions?

How about teen girl gets pregnant, does the right thing and has the baby, finishes school and does whatever it takes to bust her ass and support that child herself. Where's that option? Not to forget the father should do the same. Conservatives aren't what you are trying to make them out to be. They are self sustaining producers with morals and values and only ask that others do the same.
