Being a good shotgunner is harder than being a sniper. *Discussion*
Effective Sniping Requires: Mobility, a steady hand, good hand-eye coordination, and superb aim.
Effective Shotgunning Requires: Situational Awareness, Quick Reactionary time, and the ability to prioritize targets.
Now let me say this, I'm not saying shotgunning is harder then sniping. The average sniper is better then an average shotgunner. But a good shotgunner is definitely better then most snipers.
Sniping isn't as easy as it looks, but you have to look at a few things.
If you put a sniper at one end of the smaller hallway and a group of 4 on the other, a good sniper would have no problem taking them out 9/10 times that situation happens.
Now
If you put a shotgunner in a room with multiple exits with four enemies around him, they have to worry about a few things.
1. How many enemies are here
2. What equipment do I have to help me survive
3. Which enemy is closest, and which presents the biggest threat.
4. Is there anyway to get out of this alive, if not, how many can I take down.
Now before people attack me saying I posted this because I can't snipe, I usually play on striker titan, and shotguns compliment the class well, also because titan skating is extremely effective once learned. (As seen here https://youtu.be/3zuv1awyl0w)
Because the amount of hatemail I get for titan skating up to people at 100 MPH and sticking the barrel of my shotty down thier throat is ridiculous. (No I don't use Juggernaut, Shoulder Charge builds up way to much speed for me not to use it, I dont tank the shots, I just move fast enough to disorient people)
Basically, in terms of learning curve.
Good Sniper > Good Shotgunner > Average Sniper > Average Shotgunner
Thoughts?
There's no such thing as a "good sniper" in this game. What's the drawbacks of camping in back of an open lane? That's right none. There's no weapon sway, descoping or any real downsides to using a sniper just shoot in the general direction of a head and get a kill or shoot the body then switch quickly to primary. It's a beta crutch weapon /thread
As a shotgunner you have to worry about being team shot, numerous primaries and secondaries with a fast ttk from mid to close range, finding best angles to navigate the map, other shot gunners, etc...
Starting a game, sprinting then camping at an open lane with your reticle stuck at head level requires skill...okay. Snipers are a popular weapon so of course people use idiotic mental gymnastics to defend their crutch
