For those moaning about the update here it is in list form to help understanding.
They are UPDATING/RAISING THE LIGHT LEVEL/IMPROVING DROPS IN;
Prison of Elders,
Court of Oryx,
Heroic Strikes,
Nightfall Strikes,
King’s Fall Raid,
Iron Banner
Trials of Osiris.
Adding a new strike.
New version of old favourite strike.
New wobbly void sword.
Tron armour.
Taken shader shotgun (maybe).
Taken shader OR ARMOUR OR WHATEVER.
I didn't even watch the steam, this is just from the news article.
Longer list than I would have dared expect.
Zero EXTRA cost IF YOU ALREADY OWN TTK.
Well played Bungie and thank you.
That is all.
EDIT: Capitalised sections part of subsequent effort to avoid Lilliputian style war over the meaning of the word free (which was never used to describe this update anyway), pedantry and semantics.

I think with destiny 2, they should do away with separating year 1 and 2 and just update everything. Don't leave year 1 stuff behind again. I already paid for PoE in year 1. It should not have taken this long to become relevant again. Glad its happening though. Finally.

5 답변Here's the thing, Bungie didn't have to make a 'Taken King extension' they could have passed it off as something else and charged for it, so in my eyes it is free. And let's be real anybody who still plays Destiny casually will have the Taken King and those who don't could probably care less about the update.

Mostly everything you listed is REGURGITATED content. I capitalized that for you. So, you have regurgitated content to last you the next 4 months on the heals of 6 months of doing Kings Fall over and over and over again. 10 months between real new content. Congrats on your emotional attachment to this game.

3 답변Its not $0 bc you have to pay at least $40 to own TTK. That is IF you already own Expansion 1 & 2
-
5 답변You pay for an expansion and midway they add more content that continues the "story" beyond killing Oryx. It doesn't cost any extra than what you already paid for the original expansion, I fail to see what's so bad about that.

I take your point and agree completely, it's a great gift from the devs considering they're not asking for money. However, I'd say it wasn't free, but for a different reason I've been seeing crop up: I'm pretty sure this patch was funded by Eververse microtransactions. Most of the dialogue on this hasn't been covering the microtransactions-instead-of-subscription model side of things (even though it makes everything significantly more complicated). I think it should probably be discussed because it might help people understand dev restrictions better. Basing this patch's value off TTK sales seems like a misstep because that revenue is more likely dedicated to Destiny 2 or dried up. It feels more like several months worth of a trickle of revenue from cosmetic purchases to fund several weeks of dev time.
