Omfg Sniping!!!!

Ok. So what are everybodies opinions on snipers in this game? Do they need a tweak? More of a nerf? Balancing in general? My opinion is that with a skilled hand. They should be OP. But the aim assist is just too high sometimes. Makes it wayyyy too easy. But not with all snipers. 1000 yard aim assist is probably the best. It has high aim assist. And can res snipe. Personally I think only exotics should be able to res snipe. Makes it slightly more fair imo and makes you trade off one of your exotic primaries to do so. And the fast fire rate some have is also sometimes bad. Yes you blow through ammo. But it's not hard to obtain it and body shots do far too much damage in my opinion. I don't know. I don't want an argument. Just let us know down Below what you think needs to happen or maybe doesn't need to happen? Cheers Edit::: please don't just talk about the aim assist guys. I replied below on a few as to why I used 1000 yard stare as my example. But I want you to give opinions on the overall weapons. Not just 1 single one. I'm not calling for super nerfs. Maybe just flinching buff. That's it. But that's just me. That's it. Cheers

  • Snipers need to have Handling, ADS time, Movement speed, Reload Speed, and Equip Time changed to make sure snipers cannot be effectively used at close or medium ranges without a risk. As for Aim Assist, it doesn't make a noticeable difference, it might effect 1 out of every 20 shots if that.

    They need to give them slower handling, if you're gonna let people charge others with a sniper, bodyshot and instantly change to their primary for a quick kill, just go all out and let us dual wield.

  • As a person who mainly snipes, I think they should increase flinch on snipers and for shotguns they should bring back shotguns and give all shotguns a handling boost. It feels like you're using a machine gun when you have a shotgun out and it's not fair to people who want to shotgun to be forced into sniping because their weapons are now nowhere near as good as they used to be.

  • Ibthink they are fine. Which i hardly snipe other than with nlb but there is always a way to avoid sniping alleys.

          How about everyone stop talking about aim assist like they know jack squat about it? Do you know the numbers, tests and differences between destiny both with and without aim assist? Did anyone run internal tests in a dev build? Most people just saw a video on YouTube and decided that they suddenly know how aim assist and the numbers behind it works. I'd like to state that the following are changes suggested for PVP ONLY. First thing about snipers. Under no circumstances whatsoever should it be possible to land your shot when you are taking direct fire. That SHOULD NOT be a thing. They need to make an adjustment to make sure shooting accurately while under fire isn't possible. Also for all you sniper rifle users out there don't kid yourself. You know for a fact that reliably landing a one shot kill no matter what damage is being dealt to you is ridiculous. Best part is no sniper in this game will ever admit it because they don't want getting a one shot kill to be made more difficult. Not to say sniping is easy but it is in my opinion. I repeat MY OPINION. Secondly body shot damage needs to be made universal on all snipers. Do you know how laughably stupid it is that you can hit someone in the calf and leave them with no health? The main draw of a high impact sniper should be the precision damage multiplier. Using weyloran's March? Well headshots won't always kill every enemy especially in their super. Using a stillpiercer or an efrideet? Well then get headshots and everything will fall. When it comes to body shots however killing in 2 is fine, but removing nearly all of an enemy player's health in one shot to their toenail is not only ridiculous but promotes lazy play and gives inaccurate snipers too much forgiveness for not properly positioning themselves to take a precision shot. Once again most snipers will be against this. They not only have too much pride to admit it, but they don't want any change to come to a tool that they use. Bring on the hate.

          • If snipers are getting hit with high caliber/staggering rounds they should not be able to remain scoped without being flinched off their mark.

            • Snipers are fine. Getting good at sniping in destiny is easy but takes a little work. Getting amazing takes skill on a different level.

              • I think ice breaker is balance other than the ammo regen. It has the right amount of AA and it kicks like a mule.

                    • I think they're fine. Shotguns and fusions were a lot worse at their best. I wouldn't even care if bungie nerfed the body shot damage. It wouldn't affect me.

                    • It's great how in Y1 nobody complained about Shadow of Veils, it has almost the same stats as 1K Stare except Shadow of Veils has ~20 more AA than 1K Stare

                      • Honestly the aim assist needs to be fixed, the AA system in general needs a rework. A small degree of snap sim is good for the purposes of smooth aiming, along with a small degree of reticle stick(slows slightly over target but does not pull the aim if the target moves past the reticle). Increase to hit box, point of aim shift, and bullet bending, should not be in the aa system, which all help make using guns like 1kys get those headshots which is the reason you see so many people with them
