Matchmaking Settings: Skirmish

New matchmaking settings seen last week in Iron Banner are now live in Skirmish. Analysis continues before we apply them to more playlists. Stay tuned for more updates on future updates to the Crucible. As always, report on your experience.

  • Where's the logic in making our connection shitty to find better quality matches for us? The matches isn't going to be better quality if the connections are shitty. Stop prioritizing lag, this isn't rocket science.

    • In my humble opinion, the matchmaking has been a lot better than normal over the last week. But it still needs some work. But in IB the teams are one-sided. You can tell in the first minute whether you are going to win or lose. Matchmaking has made a step in the right direction, but still has a long way left to go.

      • The lag in Iron Banner was just as bad this time as it was last time for me. Just a different kind of lag. Funny how all players on both teams were green bar yet they would still take extra damage to kill and would teleport around map. My character at times felt like it was running around in soup. Slow to react and shoot. You keep saying you are making changes to improve it but you aren't telling us what you are changing. Please keep us informed if you want us to continue waiting for you to get it fixed.

As always, report on your experience.[/quote] And what about us pve players who bought and invested in the pve side of things deej I love this game but I speak for alot of people when I say no pve no play your killing us man just hope something good coming for us guardians soon other than emotes ive got 3900 silver but no incentive to come on and play hence I wont buy any more till I have something worth playing thisis such a shame good thing I got a 320 so I ant goda grind anymore

                My experience is matchmaking is garbage since day 1. Lag lag lag lag lag lag. Go back to connection based matchmaking and make some ranked play or something for that stuff. That way those of us that want to play the game can play.

                • Any update / idea as to when these settings will be applied to other playlist? Salvage daily was fine. But Control is literally UNPLAYABLE for me right now. Just left 2 matches within 1:00 min of spawn as adversaries were jumping all over the place. Anything would be better than the current crap so I would suggest you guys deploy this to the most popular 6v6 playlists ASAP.

                • Connections overall are much better. I don't think green bars are being masked, however I do find that rare green bar every 2 to 3 games that kills me then dies a second after. I played 8 hours of PVP yesterday (had a blizzard here) in Clash, Control and the weekly Inferno Rumble. - Rumble was smooth - One of my buddies lives in the sticks and his connection is awful, 3mbps download! When he was in our group we faced at least 1 if not 2 red bars on the other team b/c he is always red bar. Those matches were for sure rougher. When he wasn't in the party we had very few red bars we went up against. On a side note, can you please make it possible to bring in friends to the Rumble (not the classic Rumble). Since there isn't custom games and there are those of us who do enjoy randomly playing against friends for bragging rights. It's a blast when a friend joins a PVP match and gets placed on the other team and your trying to find each other to kill.

                • My recent skirmish matches were smooth. Only a few lagging players and one instance of a green bar that I shot the hell out of, he killed me and then a few seconds later it registered I killed him, probably well before he could have killed me. Verdict: improved but still needs work. Same as my feedback for IB. To people who think the red bars were just painted over with masking green bars, get real. There's clearly a problem but it's a huge stretch to claim this is a massive con game. Take off your tinfoil hats, provide feedback that isn't poorly implemented snarky adolescent whining, and help debug. To people who complain no matter what Bungie does, transparent or not, effective or not, whatever you choose to cry or rage about, I hope some day you all become programmers and customer service reps for an audience of millions of people who will be selfish, whiney brats no matter how much you try to make things better. And I hope you get what you give.

                  • I gave IB a wide berth because A) it was Rift and I am a solo player B) the lag was awful throughout the whole period ( I noticed no difference following the first alteration to SBMM by Bungie and didn't bother at all signing in to see what the second one did. So as I saw today that it had been applied to Skirmish I decided to try it out. At first the games seemed to connect well and everyone was green barring. It is, of course, 3v3 so I would not have expected quite so many lag problems and to be honest I did not see any. As the number of games I played increased this slowly changed, although everyone on the roster started with a green bar immediately we landed this changed so people, including myself at times ( I would mention that I have an excellent Internet connection and my Ping averages at 10 ), had at various times yellow and red bars. This state of affairs continued with each match getting progressively worse. The final Skirmish match I played was awful with people teleporting all over the place. I assume that my team ( 2 people in a pre made team and me as a random) may have been doing the same because a little way into the match all 3 people on the other side suddenly left. Do not know whether this was deliberate or they were disconnected. I then tried one match of Control to gauge whether there was a difference. My answer would be Yes, a huge difference from the first couple of Skirmish matches, and No thereafter. Do not know whether anyone else has experienced this but I just thought I would put it out there

                  • didn't really notice a difference. Still lots of lag people tanking fusion rifle golden gun and rockets only to die from it 3 seconds later. At least 1 red bar per team. Maybe 2 solid matches.

                  • Great improvement. Hit detection is smooth and I haven't really run into any red bars (maybe 1 or 2 in 10+ matches). Cruc still needs work, but this has been quite an improvement. Great work

                      • Played some skirmish last night and the connection was MUCH better than it has been in previous weeks. This should be carried into all playlists. The game is much more enjoyable when it actually works.
