Ohh young guardian you have missed the best year of destiny. We had so much to do back then. We had nightfalls, weekly strike,VOG, Crota and POE. We had elemental primaries and the feeling of your first gjallarhorn drop is just a feeling you don't get anymore in this game. You don't get to experience half of the exotics in year one which sucks because ice breaker was awesome and you won't ever feel the struggle of the thorn bounty when the only void primary was atheons epilogue :/ and you don't get to experience wasting hundreds of motes just to get the perfect rolls on weapons

I'm honestly surprised at how everyone remembers "the good old days" of year one. Before HoW there was less content than there is now, Original Destiny: There was the raid, nightfall, strikes and crucible. Iron banner was few and far between. Everyone hated being lvl 29, I played every week but never hit lvl 30, I didn't complete hard mode VoG until The Dark Below came out. People hated fusion rifles until they were nerfed. Grinding for materials and ascendant shards was -blam!-ing awful and took weeks of game time. The Dark Below: Everyone was pissed their VoG gear was no longer worth anything even though they grinded day and night for it. Crota's End was boring, it was completely broken. There was a cheese for almost every part. The lamp jump, the numerous bridge cheeses, the sunsinger revive for health regeneration cheese at crota. I would do every part of hard mode except Crota because finding a team that could actually kill him would take an entire Saturday. There was one strike added to the playlist. It was at this point when people realized that having 3 characters of the same class was far better and helped against the agonizingly dull grind that was Destiny. The Thorn buff was added and slowly people started to catch on to how broken it was. Shotguns, everyone hated shotguns, and they whined and whined and whined. House of wolves: So much content was added like... um... Trials! One new strike was added, POE was good. People now understood that 2 months after a dlc was released the content became nonexistent and only played to do the weekly ritual. Shotguns and the Thorn made everyone constipated beyond belief. The fatebringer, any shotgun, the blackhammer, and the Gally. These were the guns that every player used for every pve activity, unless you didn't own gally so you whined and whined. It was the great Conformation, every guardian was the same, and everyone knew it. This is what it felt like to be a year one player, exactly how it feels to be a year two player. You get on every week to do the same grind you've been doing. You check the forums to see people whining about this or that. I think back to year one and do have fond memories like the loot cave, POE with friends, and going my first time going 9-0 and finding out about the lighthouse. But then I remember spending entire days grinding materials, having 1/4 of the bank space that exists today, sighing as my raid team starts Crota for the 15th time. People remember the glory days of year one, even though there is more content and less grinding than there's ever been before. If you play through year 2 into year 3, you will see what it's like to be a year one player. A never ending faith in Bungie that the next dlc or content update will bring you what you've been yearning for. Your close friend tells you that they're excited for some game, so you decide to get it too. The game you play is a lot of fun, there aren't as many reasons to get on every week. But, the lore and story draws you in, or the multiplayer feels fresh and new. You understand now, you're tired of the grind... you're finished with Destiny.

Sorry to say it mate but you missed the best of it. What's left of destiny now is garbage by comparison.

Great post & I'm loving these replies. Getting the Mythoclast was a big moment. Could not believe the luck. I woke up my girlfriend at 2am. I really miss doing the nightfalls with my best bud, with that intense risk playing on your mind that a mistake could kick you to orbit, and using such a great elemental damage combo (fatebringer, vision of confluence) and unleashing out g-horns before the exotic chance came up to reward us. I do not miss farming for helium fragments!

Some streamers that like to kiss up to Bungie always say that year two is so much better than year one. In reality, year one had so much more content and longevity than this pile of trash. Vault of Glass was still being played up until Kings Fall, almost a year later.

Only thing i liked so much i wish they'd bring it back was the weapon balances, I never saw as many snipers back then as I do now. I throw up when i see crucible in the state of today. Yeah back then some weapons were op but not EVERYONE and their uncle were using it like people and the 1KYS are now. I dont play anymore unless its trials, only thing thats still semi fun
