I'm Christian so hate all you want were used to it, but this is not a hate thread, it's a simple question....errr well not simple but ends in a paradox so I would like for you to answer the question because I can't understand it.
So the true definition of atheist is " one who doesn't believe in God or Gods."
Okay let me out it this way. To be an atheist you don't believe in Gods. But without gods you couldn't be atheist. Therefore being an atheist is a paradox. There is no way to not believe in a god without acknowleding that that person or thing is or once was a god?

Do you want to argue that if you accept the idea of God as the greatest possible being, then given that idea of God, it is necessary that God exists? That's the ontological argument for the existence of God. It's been around for a thousand years or so. You could fill a hundred books with the writings of many intelligent people throughout history who have argued for and against it.

13 답변I'd rather believe in a god then none at all. If he's real then I will live for eternity. If he's not real then I won't miss out on anything when I die. If he is real and I denied him then, I'll see you all in hell!

Don't think of atheism as a simple denial of God. Beliefs, or the lack thereof, is based on evidence. An atheist does not believe in a supernatural being because there is no evidence of its existence. How can you deny something exists if there is no verifiable proof that it exists?

6 답변작성자: LilLoki 12/26/2015 7:22:37 PMIf God is all knowing and all powerful and you asked him to create something he doesn't know he would become completely dumbfounded right? Because itd be impossible but he is all powerful so nothing is impossible for him. Explain how this could occur if he's supposed to be able to create anything though he couldn't create something he doesn't know. Now that's a paradox.

So the Gods of other religions eh? You don't believe in them so obviously they must exist? Fool. Your more narrow minded than those of us called atheists, your prepared to make a leap of faith, without any evidence, but everyone else is wrong.

2 답변What you're looking for is agnosticism maybe. Now my turn to ask you something ? You're Christian Right. What about your parents ? I can guess that there is like 80% chance you're going to tell me that they are Christian too. (If they are not, it doesn't matter no worries) Now let's say if your parents were Muslim or Jewish, what would have been your religion ? I can guess that there is something like 80% chance that you would have been Muslim or Jewish too. So religion are just sects which works really well ages ago, and still works because of parents telling (directly or not) their kids to believe in their gods. Sorry for my English but I guess you can still understand what I'm saying.

Religion is ignorant. It's the only idea or product that one invests blindly into with hopes of gaining some type of bliss in return. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to support the existence of a higher power. This proves to actually hurt our economy more than benefit it. Due to "charitable donation" by members of the vast amount of churches, their income is non-taxable. If you in fact taxed the churches, it would take a huge chunk of our debt out from the trillions we owe, but instead, the "preachers" and "Reverands" and "saints" covet their nasty business too much to hand over their dough. Atheists were and never will be the problem. Religion is poisonous and does absolutely nothing to benefit our world.

3 답변작성자: Pocket Fox 12/26/2015 7:27:58 PMI'm Christian but this thread makes no sense. The real issue here is that there can be a very fine line between not believing in God (atheism) and hating those who do (bigotry). The Freedom From Religion group, for example, straddles this line to the extreme. A good half of everything that comes out of those peoples' mouths is sheer, unapologetic bigotry masked as atheism. It IS possible to disagree with someone or something but not hate that thing. Our society seems to struggle with this.

God is a concept. To say something exists because you have a concept of it is ridiculous. There is no paradox. Thats like saying if you can conceptualize a flying pink unicorn from Saturn its a paradox not to believe in one. Your argument literally makes no sense.
