It's not pre-ordering, it's not DLC, it's not even unfinished games being released. It's nothing the developers or publishers are doing. The solution can be found by looking in a mirror. The entire gaming community makes a huge flaw which is what's ruining the gaming industry. So what is this HUGE flaw we're making? HYPE, we overhype games to absurd levels, then when the game is released it gets hate because it didn't stand up to our absurd expectations. Almost every game these days gets hyped as the best game ever, which is something that no game will ever be.

Online multiplayer Ever since they added the feature to play with friends online Gaming developers realized that players would spend shit load of time in that one feature so they don't make the story mode.
im looking at you Star Wars battlefront and rainbow six siege
Reading through everything, especially the "golden age" folks, there's one common denominator that people are overlooking - the ubiquitousness of high speed internet. There's a difference between hype and anticipation. I was eagerly anticipating Witcher, Fallout, a couple of others. It didn't verge on getting on the hype train, though, because I rarely went to the plethora of clickbait gaming sites trying to learn more. And those sites need to make outrageous claims to get the clicks to get their revenue. Of course there wasn't this level of hype back in the "good old days" because people's worlds were very, very small in comparison, you only heard hype from the circle of assholes you called your friends, game stores, and the occasional random. And if one of them steered you wrong twice, you didn't listen to their opinion after that. Now you've got literally thousands of anonymous assholes making outrageous claims, most of the time without giving any justification. And people listen, they're far too lazy to read anything longer than a couple bullet points. The internet also completely changed the distribution structure. Of course there weren't microtransactions and DLCs back in the "good old days" - there was no way to charge for or distribute them. You also couldn't easily add anything on to a cartridge, nor could you fix a buggy one. And going back to this whole hype thing, in order for people to stand above the white noise of the internet they have to take polemic positions, whether they believe it or not. There seems to be no middle ground, everything is "amazing!!!!!!" or "sucks balls!!!!!!". Bah. Enough. tl;dr - tl;dr is part of the fvcking problem....

2 답변There are mm any problems with the industry and it all boils down to money. The cost of making new games keeps increasing but the initial sale price has stayed the same. Thus leads to over-hyping games to sell more copies, removed content to be sold as dlc later, and micro-transactions. If games were priced at $100 you might actually see all the content put in at the start. However; the consumer base is so akin to the current market no developer will take that leap of faith.

작성자: Senor Crouch 11/24/2015 4:49:35 PMThe industry's current obsessive behavior of looking for the newest and most clean hyper-realistic graphics that can run at the highest FPS. This in turn requires larger teams of game developers which costs more money, but with a game price cap limit of $60 they have to make up for the cost some where. So bye-bye complete and whole game and hello to cut-content and cut features (and people still question why Destiny shipped without CTF). Simply sell the mangled remains of the game for $60 and then introduce DLC for the cut content and mircro-transaction thereafter. (Why do you think the Internet has made memes illustrating games and DLC from 10 years ago to what it looks like now?) This then breeds lazy game design, because if you can make it look better than your competitors then that's all you need to get your game published instead of the other guy. What's in the game? Who cares! As long as it looks the shiny-est and you hype it up till you can't any more. Then simply sweep the annoying portion of the player base that complains that this is unacceptable behavior under the rug and you are good. Finally tell the community at large that the game has an evolving world that will be updated frequently to keep the fanbase's hopes high. If you can successfully trick your fanbase into thinking that greatness is just on the horizon then they will continue to throw money at the screen. This has been my lesson on how you become a great AAA game studio. Good luck to all you game studios aspiring to reach that AAA rank.

작성자: weirdboy99 11/24/2015 3:42:17 PMWell you are not too far off from the truth, but its actualy the amount of money spend to create that hype to begin with Marketing of AAA games is almost as expensive as developing the game increasing the costs, and in some cases creating a loss when sales are disapointing *cough'Tomb Raider'cough*. This is one of the main reasons that,if things keep going this way,the game market will eventualy crash. The other two reasons are overpriced/day one DLC and console exclusivity deals.

2 답변I think it's just that most games are being pandered to the older gamers. People who were young during the N64-PS2 eras. But now we're grown, cynical adults. So it's us. I'm sure gaming would boom again if they made more kid/early teen friendly action adventures, role playing games, and such.

2 답변Personally feel like the fact that its so widely accepted and popular now is a big factor, it used to be kind of a niche market. I remember when games sold because of word of mout, quality, and the gripping stories that yanked you in and didnt let go. A blurb on a case and some screenshots were all you had to go on sometimes. Now adays game developers dont really have to be groundbreaking, or good storytellers, all they have to do is find something thats already successful and basically put their twist on it. Im not trying to sound like a dick or anything, i just miss the days when i bought a game, and that was the game. If it sucked it didnt sell, no dlcs or expansions, wich, i enjoy when done right. That game had to sell because it kicked ass, was fun, and either has friends involved such as split screen, or a story so good you forgot what the sun looked like all of july. This is the longest response ive ever typed on here and im on mobile so please forgive my spelling and grammar. I just feel like a large portion of the industry has gotten lazy, and the bandwagon effect in almost every games community is horrible. I feel that with the internet came a double edged blade, devs can see and hear constructive feedback, wich is usually drowned out quickly by complaints and unhelpful statements. This is just an old gamers opinion. Nothing more. A game should be like a book, a complete and well thought out concept complete in its own right upon purchase is rather buy well made sequels, than dlc and micros. Any day. Again this is all opinion. Nothing more.

4 답변To me its developers cutting content that was supposed to be released with the disc but, selling it later as DLC, and not being good on their promises. And locking content that people paid for because they don't continue to buy the DLC. I have no issues with games being hyped because I don't jump on hype trains or form my judgement of a game off another's opinion of an unfinished/unreleased game or even released games for that matter.

2 답변There are a lot of reasons actually, and it's not just hype. There are these "feminists" (AKA:Feminazi's) There are communities who complain ALL the time because of "microtransactions" which have existed since I remember, every game with skins. "BUT ITS WUINING TEH GAMES!" Not really, it just matters how its being used, which doesn't ruin the games. Example of games who are doing them right are Halo and Destiny. Skins and Emotes don't ruin the game, they don't give me unlimited ammo, aids, chicken noodle soup, god-mode. They don't do that, at all, and if they do then someone pls show me so I can wreck everyone at vidya games. Either way, I think it's more of the communities, but I also believe that it's certain game developers who cheat people out and don't put any effort into making their game, a good example is with Ubisoft and AC:Unity (heard that Syndicate had a good PC release) as well as 3ARCH and the PC Version of BO3, oh and don't forget the infamous Batman:Arkham Knight PC Port, which is still sucking harder than the 4th of July. Either way, in a short term its the following -Feminazi's -Community -Bad Ports -Game molesting/breaking glitches/bugs.

2 답변Actually it's corporations like Activision or EA that put a leash on the amount of content a video game has.

8 답변Stupid consumerism is ruining the industry. Majority of people are more than willing to pay more for less, and justifying it by stating "but it's a fun game!"

3 답변I honestly don't see people's problem with pre-ordering a game? I pre-order digital games mainly because I want to be able to play them as soon as I'm able. Due to my work schedule, I don't have the time to go out to the game store and pick up a game when it releases, but with pre-ordering and pre-downloading, I'm able to play a game I've been looking forward to when I get off work at 3 A.M.
