I'm a diehard Bungie fan, always have been. I've been playing Destiny pretty much exclusively since Alpha, and while I love almost everything that TTK brought into the game, the way it handles loot stats and the new "light" system has ruined the game for me and my friends.
Specifically, the way that weapons and armor drop at random Stat values makes the act of acquiring them less than fun because if its not the highest level possible, or close to that, then it's worthless.
This especially applies to exotics and raid gear. Exotics are in the right direction in that they drop in intervals of 10. But even that isn't good enough. The old system where all weapons dropped at the same max attack value was the superior system.
The raid especially suffers because raid gear is supposed to be super exciting stuff, but when you run the raid and get stuff that's lower stats than your non raid stuff, it really sucks.
I think etheric light was such a perfect solution to the level problem. People that play Destiny daily just want their characters to be max level so they can do any activity with friends and have fun.
I don't have all the answers on how to fix this problem, maybe bring back etheric light and just make it more rare? Or only useable if you're above 300 light? All I know is that when I infused my 310 rocket into my 305 Sleeper Simulant and it only went to 309, the only thought that came to mind was, "dumb, this system is dumb".
Honestly for all the talk about the old light system being confusing or whatever, I didn't really know anyone that played Destiny that had a problem with it.
Also I think making the exotic perks part of the gear and not part of the upgrade progression was a mistake. I honestly could care less about the things that I'm actually upgrading on my exotics anymore, I only do it for the yellow outline around the icon now. Also exotics in general feel less special in TTK. The year 2 versions of year 1 exotics still tend to be the most useful in the game.
And lastly the new stat system has ruined Xur. The fact that he sells 280 gear means no one cares anymore what he has if you're above 300-310 light.
It feels like a lot of things were done to the loot and leveling system to make it more appealing to people coming into the game but it seems to be pushing out existing players. The new story stuff and the quest system are amazing, and while I like the guaranteed exotics by way of quests system, I think that RNG was more beneficial to Destiny than some are willing to admit. The same goes for overpowered items like Gjallarhorn and Fatebringer. Those are things that kept people playing.
But what we have now is driving people away.

I wish they would do this now with Destiny 2. My friends and I discussed why we were not drawn to destiny anymore after Taken King was because the game became focused upon getting maximum light level instead of getting the ultimate exotic weapons. The grind towards max light is a painful and unfulfilling grind that is not very fun. Look, we did the raid and I got a pair of boots that are a little bit better than the last pair of boots. I guess I will have to find 20 more pairs of boots before I ever make it to max light level..... That's a foolish gameplay design. However, the grind for exotics during year 1 of original destiny was incredibly satisfying. During year one, we all knew when there was a chance for the game to drop an exotic, and we all would wait in great anticipation after defeating a boss to see who ended up with that gjallarhorn, icebreaker, or any yellow in the loot list on the left side of the screen. The excitement is gone from the current loot system. Back then, people screamed and freaked out about finding gjallarhorn from a random drop, and it was one of the most thrilling and rememberable experiences I have ever had in a video game (I got my first gjallarhorn from the deathsinger on hard crota). It has been over two years and I still remember how awesome that moment was. But now I beat a boss and all it is, is bragging rights. I hardly even care about what the game dropped at this point because the exotics are easy to get and are not as powerful as they were in year 1. At this point I know Bungie will never go back to the original destiny formula, but I'm telling you that if they sucked it up and recognized their mistake, they would make a lot of money. People can come back to a game if something they love and remember is brought back to the game. I left destiny a bit after taken king came out and I got tired of its loot system. I have returned near year 2 of Destiny 2 because I wanted to see if the fun from original destiny had come back in any way. Unfortunately, I have to say it is disappointing how far it is from what it could be. We will see how I like Forsaken when I play it for the first time today. But I bet the system is still focused upon the light grind instead of the rewarding quest to find the incredible exotics in the game.

1 답변Agreed. The previous raid loot drops were maddening but when you got what you wanted you had it. All they need to do is bring that back. If you get a normal raid drop it's 310. If you get a hard drop it's 320. You still need to get lucky to get the drop but you won't need 5 other drops to infuse it. You can get all 3 characters to 320 if you want because you won't need high light drops from one character to infuse another. 2 moldering shards needs to be removed from the loot table. They can be in the chests along the way and remain for purchase from Eris but should never be a drop from a boss, especially in exchange for 20 (friggin' Bungie math).

1 답변It's nice to see that I'm not the only one that feels this way, hopefully Bungie takes notice and makes the appropriate changes. Something I think that is getting overlooked too is the relevance of RNG. Everyone complained about it because of how hard it was to get certain weapons and exotics due to RNG, but that's also what kept many of us playing. I mean, granted, the new exotics aren't as good as year 1 exotics (and that's due to Bungie trying to avoid having "OP" exotics, something they should embrace rather than avoid). But having so many obtainable through quests alone is removing the reasons to come back to the game day in and day out. Last night, I thought maybe I should play some Destiny, but then I couldn't think of any reason to play. I have all of the exotics, I've done all of the quests, I can't do the raid or trials by myself. Maybe I could do the nightfall but the rewards have sucked lately so what's the point? And so that's where I am.

1 답변Agreed not even worth playing iron banner if we get rewards of 300 and below if we are 300 plus we should get rewards which are 300 plus inclue court of onyx.

4 답변The loot system is terrible. It's not bad enough to keep me away, nor my diehard friends. We get pissed off at the loot and poke fun at each others rage. The mechanics of the raids and the fun of playing through them is what keeps us going. Crack jokes, drink whiskey, raid and repeat. Pretty much what we do. Better rewards would be appreciated.

1 답변Everything you said is 100% the same as my clan mates all feel. This new light leveling has pushed all of them and myself away from Destiny. Getting loot is just not fun or worth it anymore. So there's no reason to play. I don't have an answer either but know that I'm no longer excited to see gold exotic colors on my screen anymore. Because it could be 5 different light levels and I'm not wasting time infusing it up. Such a letdown. But great post, I agree.

4 답변I think the exact opposite. Etheric light ruined the game. HoW almost made me quit playing. I was max level on three different guardians the second day and a then next week all weapons at max level. Everything HoW did wrong TTK has made better.

I just wish it was a system where it gave u only better gear then what u have or at least the same level. For instance i kill warpriest and he drops a heavy for me. since i have a 317 heavy equipped while doing it hell drop a 317 to 320 heavy. (if the s.o.b. actually drops anything). If the system worked that way i would be much happier

Agree 100%. I've really given up on the raids. Raid items should be maxed light. Exotics should drop maxed light. Hell, I don't even mind the level differences. I.e. Dropping at 300, 310, 320. But once you hit those levels, drops should go to the next tier. Etheric light infusion to give it +2 light per use could work. It would make PoE useful again.

1 답변Loot system is busted it's a 1.85% chance of getting a 320 drop from any boss in the raid. In vog it was a 13% chance of getting any drop armor or weapon as you can see there is a problem. In vog days once you got the item you HAD the item no gimmicks or snickering you just lvled the item with shards or energies. They could fix this by using moldering shards in increments of 20 to increase +2 light on one item (maxes at 320) that way at least you can see what you need to do and not sit there bent over waiting for your raid drops

It's the reason most of my friends list is on something else & hardly anyone does the raid anymore. Including myself. Haven't even finished Oyrx on hard because what's the point? Nothing but an emblem seems to drop anyway & the hard raid gear is no better than normal with Elemental Primaries gone & double rng & half the time light level is so low it doesn't make a difference

2 답변작성자: Ricardo 11/15/2015 4:40:13 PMNice post but it will be ignored like all the posts that point out the problems of destiny. I've made a few and one I suggested that the raid loot should drop from your current light up and never bellow that. All the mentors are on Holliday as it seems and the community managers are busy showing us crapy videos. It's sad that they (bungie) ignore they're own forum and prioritise the likes of Reddit.

Light level is garbage, not only do you have to hope you get a certain piece of gear you have to hope it higher level, i mean really Bungie says they listening to the community? "Oh you dont like the RNG?, Ok we know how to fix this!, how about we half your odds? Yeah thats perfect!"

2 답변The new light level system doesn't mean a thing outside of hard mode. I run a 312 Titan and did a nightfall last night, was three shot by a 290 enemy and I had my armor all the way up. They have screwed this game up royally and it will take a major overhaul to fix but they'll want your money for it and I will not spend another dollar on this game. No more paid dlc for content that's already there and they are just pay blocking it. And soon you'll see pay to win take place, it's just a Matter of time.
