Around this last week, or the week before, people (including me) are feeling bored of Destiny. But if you had this content back on 2014, no one would be done yet. I know why.
People aren't rewarded for their efforts anymore. They feel robbed, and this is even worse than VoG grinding days.
This is because 1: Reward drops are infrequent.
2: The rewards you can get usually suck
3: Other things are just better
4: Bungie hasn't released half the TTK exotics in the database.
In the last raid I did, hard mode oryx, I got two items of value. A ghost shell and a mark. From Warpriest? Nothing. From golg? Nothing. Granted I did the normal raid first (which I got nothing but a fusion rifle from), is this acceptable? After beating one of the hardest bosses in the game, should I (or anyone) get a fusion rifle that's absolutely terrible anyway, or receive nothing? No. But it doesn't even matter, anyway! Because most of the raid weapons are bad.
Think about it. Would you rather use the raid sniper, or a gunsmith sniper with LITC? Who here, in this thread, feels the desire to own all the raid weapons? Is there a certain one (Fatebringer) that the entire community wants? Do people make websites in devotion to the raid handcannon (which I don't even know the name of. It's that's forgettable)? Do people scream in excitement to get Telesto, Hereafter, etc., jumping up and down, yelling in anticipation to use this new masterpiece of a gun? No! In fact, the weapons that most people are using to be successful are stock. Seriously? Why raid? To get ToM which has no use outside of the raid?
Back in VoG and Crota days, I had to have all the raid weapons. The rare ones, especially. People would walk around in the tower and gawk at my gear. My vex mythoclast proudly mounted on my shoulders, I walked to Xander as crowds followed me.
Then it went downhill.
Vex mythoclast > ToM >>>>>> necrochasm
Who the -blam!- wants necrochasm? Some people just wanted to collect it. In fact, that was the only reason to have it. The high end weapons got worse and worse until they were outclassed by everything else. I'd like to see a show of hands! Who grinded through PoE a million times to get Wolvesbane? *counts 0 hands*
And here's why collecting just left destiny entirely: We can't even get half the exotics. The other half are time gated. Now I can't tell you why. The haters out there will tell you it's to increase longevity. Maybe it's technicalities. I don't know, but it's stupid and it's turning everyone away from collecting exotics.
Here's what needs to be done:
•Raid weapons need to be good again. Something worth it.
•Raid drops need to be increased. I don't even care what you give me! I'd be happy getting something besides moldering shards and a black wax idol.
•Stop time-gating exotics
•Give us the database exotics or take them out
Luke, you're not giving people more choices, you're just making them feel like they wasted their time.
I'll add more to this post later. More points to be made.
Edit: There is tons of content with TTK, but no incentive, mostly.

I used to grind for the galley non stop everyday ... was happy for the people who got it during one of my runs... thinking my day was coming...then xur came and offered it to everyone lol before they nerfed it. I didn't even bother.. it was my sole reason for playing... and they just gave it out. I didn't even bother, I pretty much just stopped playing after that.

1. In Year 1 - reaching max level was the point. In Year 2 - I'm not sure that this is the point. I see the level cap steadily increasing all year - with the challenge mode raids increasing the level cap next. If you think about leveling as a continuous year long process - reaching max becomes meaningless. 2. With that said, you should be rewarded for your effort. If you defeat a boss in the raid, you should get a reward. Period. Nothing is just unacceptable. 3. The raid weapons are good. We're not going to see weapons like the VoG ever again - because really they weren't just good - nothing could compare. They were too limiting. There isn't going to be a pinnacle weapon.

Yeah but Bungie wants to blame Activision. You signed to them for $500 million dollars so you're in it with them. Cut content simply isn't cool or fair to the rest if us. You'd think by getting five hundred mill they'd give us more content but why if they tricked everyone to come out their pockets and pay 3 separate times for what should've been one original game. More power to Bungie for ripping off their fans. Enjoy it but we're easing garbage game and not giving you another red cent. Also the game is repetitive and the rewards are yawn worthy.

That moment when you see a blue engram drop and you carry on with whatever it was you were doing because you know its not worth going out of your way for. Then you make a note to visit the postmaster in the next day or two

The problem is this current raid is double RNG. RNG to see if you get anything, and RNG for it's light level. If they want to fix it, they'll make the drops random still, but on normal each piece will be 310, and on hard mode, each piece will be 320. None of this in between crap for Raids. You can keep the in between crap for other stuff (court of oryx, strikes, etc) but double RNG is shit.

Well before I express myself on your post, here's my context: I'm currently a student in my final year in high school in the french system. This year I'm filling in applications for universities and other types of study systems outside of France where grades are very much looked into (more so than french ones). My grades from the last years were lack-luster so I'm trying to go all out this year. And so I've given up on gaming outside of school breaks and holidays. In two weeks of holidays, I went ham on Destiny in order to catch up the month I'd lost of TTK. In that time, I reached light level 305, finished the raid, experienced the new subclasses (and fell in love with NS). I did a lot of trials, I got my gunsmith rank up to 3 and I made a lot of new friends. In that time, I never stopped playing. Destiny was my only game for two weeks with a little MCC in between waiting for friends to come online. Now that my streak is over, I've started questioning it again. I'm no longer in a rush to get back to destiny. My only longing is to play with a friend that I only just got into the game and he is loving it. Playing with him reminded me of my first experiences back in Day One and that sense of accomplishment with every level I gained and the mystery enemies I would meet on earth patrol. I only want to play for him to experience that. He has yet to start trials and has yet to do the Year 1 raids. But those are my only objectives. This "ban" I placed on myself has allowed me to look into other games (although Halo 5 is the only one that really appeals to me, sorry Fallout 4). I want to play them but I don't have the time between my studying and my Destiny time. I was going to reck your post, but reading it made me finally understand what destiny was making me feel. The next time I'm able to play, I'll take a break from destiny. Sure I'll run the raid and maybe get high enough for hard mode, and I'll get another shot at that flawless ToO (because I do love PvP in this game for all it's imbalances). But I'm going to spend time playing halo again. I haven't even finished the Halo 2 campaign for f***s sake. And Halo 5 is just so appealing to my PvP side.

I understand they don't want everything to be just given to you so that way you have something to do every week (the raid) but .. I'm sick and tired of getting the bare minimum drops ... 310-313... Seriously every week since hard mode released 2-3 times a week I can't get crap other than 1 armor piece that was 319 and one that was a 318 ghost she'll.. It's a hold back

I get the same legendary weapons over and over 5 crucible hacksaws 5 of the crucible auto rifles so many -blam!-ing smolders and ruin wakes and nothing else not to mention all my nightfalls have totaled 6 ghost shells a pair of boots a cape and gauntlets all shit rewards since the update blew all my strange coins on engrams trying to get any helmet at 310 but open them and its a bunch of shitty warlock helms at 290
