Is Hammer of Sol OP in crucible?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Please don't class bash or hate on each other. Is Hammer of Sol Op in crucible? Please answer yes or no in the poll above. I'm not looking for a debate, just honest feedback. *General feedback has been that the damage resistance seems a bit high while super is active, and the effects of the cauterize perk are slightly excessive in the crucible. Other than that, it is a solid Super.

  • The shots have a travel time and are hard to hit from a distance as a result of the arc. They can also be survived. A shadow shooting Hunter survived a direct hammer smack and shot me yesterday when I was in hammer mode. Not complaining, just stating a fact. Other supers can end the hammer mode too. I even got 1 shot sniped out of hammer mode yesterday by a stillpiercer. I think the only change that should potentially be made is the hammers should be able to hurt the user like how nova bombs hurt void walkers. I think that would inspire a lot more precision and help other players kill careless unskilled hammer bros more.

    • Dude, what the hell? I tried to take on a Sunbreaker while he was in HoS and he wrecked me. I was using my ordinary ass guns because my melee, super, and grenade were all on cooldown. I heard him coming because of the distinctive hammer hitting the anvil sound, but why should I have to run away from him just because he has his super up? I should be able to get close enough to shotgun/melee him without having to worry about a OHKO. I should also be able to sit safely out of the Sunbreaker's hammer range and one shot them with a high impact sniper or Golden Gun.

    • What needs to happen is to scale down the armor you get just a tad and make shadowshot instantly cancel a super on hit. Shadowshot shouldn't be able to kill a supered opponent but as soon as the arrow touches any activated super that persons super stops. Can't tell you how many times I've been hit by a bow, kill the hunter and run away and still be in my super. What's the point in having a super that negates other supers if it doesn't cancel on it? Yeah you can time it so that when they come around the corner but if you time it and it's not the guy who popped his super it's a wasted arrow. They could even make it so that the tether still takes a second to come out but if hit by the arrow in a super it just effect you like a normal suppression grenade (can't double jump, throw grenade ect). It would also make them more likely to be caught by the tether making shadowshot more useful as a support class in pvp rather than running quiver and trying to make it a killing super.

    • Nope. it's actually pretty well balanced with itself. here are some facts. damage wise, hammer of sol borrows the damage of golden gun, (aka a direct hit will do 360 damage in pvp) but to balance this damage potential and the fact thats its AOE, unlike golden gun, hammer have a ballistic arch, so they have a limit to range, furthermore, the hammers also have a painfully slow travel time, slower then even the slowest of rocket launchers velocities, then means a hammers effectivenes sdrops SEVERELY the further away teh target is. lastly, while hammers are explosive, they are the ONLY super to have aoe damage falloff, if you assume the hammers proximity is like a rockets grenades and horsehoes, the proximity detonation is 1.3 meters, did you know at 1.3 meters the damage of the hammer (unless forgemaster) is reduced by 75%? (aka ANY class with full health can survive a near hit from a hammer) also, the range of the explosion is limited to 2 meters unless you have forgemaster.(with forgemaster, the range of teh explosions is improved by 50% to 3 meters) in terms of defense. sunbreakers defenses are EXACTLY the same as the other supers with def enhancments, do you know why sunbreakers seem to be alot tougher? it has to do with about 5-10 health, thats it, that is the ONLY reason sunbreakers can survive some of the high burst damage attacks aka rockets, and gg shots) because titans are toughness based class, they are able to reach 9 toughness warlocks can get the highest recover, hunters can get teh highest agility, and titans can get teh highest toughness(a hunter on teh other hand is agility base and is able to reach 9 agility, compared to the titans max agility of 8) what that toughness means is that a titan has 95 shield (on top of the 105 health all gaurdians have 105 health (aka the red bar) and have between 80 and 95 sheild based on toughness.) that gives a titan 200 health. last but not least, for a sunbreaker to survive a gg shot, they also need to be wearing solar armour chest peice, not i'm not sure if teh armour on chest peices is a flat % damage reduction, or if it is additional toughness (like [armory]the ram[/armory]) but either way its required to make the sunbreaker survive the shit that he goes though. mobility- yea sunbreaker has no additional mobility rendered by it's super, if you are mad about titans skatting, beyond my usual response of go f yourself, thats a JUMP not a super and all titans have it, thus if titan skating was not op on strikers, or defenders, it's not op on sunbreakers.

      • I honestly think it's funny when people are like "you only get your super 2-3 times a game" lmao. Well, when a good-average game is 15-20 kills, and hos can easily net you 4 kills a super, that's pretty significant to get 8-12 kills a game from it.

        Funny trend: the group of people that vote "yes it's op" has steadily gone up from the release of ttk till now. I can't tell you how many Titans I've almost killed, only to have them chunk a hammer cross map and kill you, even though the hammer was 10,000 feet to your right. What's worse is they gain all their health back, adding insult to injury. This shit needs to be fixed or it'll drive me away from destiny. It's gotten so bad, hopefully bungie fixes it

        • Neutral on it. Got killed by plenty of supers, and it didn't seem to be unusually sunbreaker-heavy. The most annoying part about Sunbreakers are their ridiculous toughness, not their boomsmashers.

          • So, I honestly tried to give hammer of Sol a chance but even when I'm on my own damn titan I hate hammer of Sol, its a broken subclass with too much armour, the hammers are fine but the armour is ridiculous considering I can shotgun melee a bladedancer and self res warlock and kill them.

                  • To kill a sunbreaker you need the whole team shooting at one, unless they have cauterize then they can't be taken down
