So the community has appeared to have a fairly negative reaction to the Sleeper. I won't deny that the quest was simplistic and easy at best, but the weapon itself really shines. Lets look at some numbers:
Black Spindle, which is considered one of the best single-target damage dealers, does ~76k per shot on Golgoroth. The Sleeper does ~155k per shot. The fire rate of the Sleeper is about 2/5 that of the Spindle (excluding reload). This is the equivalent of ~69k damage per 76k damage from spindle.
What this means is that the Sleeper rivals one of the BEST SINGLE TARGET WEAPONS IN THE GAME, albiet with a single reload. However, the sleeper is a lot more versatile, as it doesn't require 3 rapid precision shots to maintain dps.
TL:DR Sleeper is a pretty damn good weapon.
Edit: For those pointing out that the Sleeper has only 7 shots, this thread is comparing dps, not total damage. Various other factors come into play at that point.
Edit: Aaand my first thread ever is trending. Damn.

1 답변Everyone wanted the sleeper to be on par with prenerf gally because they need a damn crutch 24/7 the sleeper is decent and I'm glad there isn't a god gun yet it actually adds some diversity this year

6 답변It's not underpowered, it's just that people (probably that need a crutch) started some insane rumor that it was the year 2 Ghorn. So of course when they got the gun, they automatically assumed this would be the case, and it wasn't. As soon as people saw that it wasn't a year 2 ghorn, the hate spewed forth. The gun is great, but it's not so powerful that it becomes the only gun you will ever have equipped. Persoanlly I like that. I like being able to say I'm going to use red death, or hereafter, or any other exotic, without thinking "oh, but if I unequip my sleeper, people will yell at me because it makes the raid easier", which was the case with ghorn. It wasn't necessary to have ghorn to beat bosses in year 1, but it made shit so easy, why wouldn't you use it? I'm glad ghorn is buried, and I'm glad that the sleeper is at the power level that it is.

i think its a lot of fun to use, and once i figure out how to use the bouncing projectiles to its full potential it could be quite powerful. the trick might be to use it in small rooms to get the most use of its projectiles.

2 답변작성자: HODGE2G 10/9/2015 9:48:23 AMMy two cents (also wrote in response to somebody else). This thing was "claimed' to replace the Gally. Why are we comparing it to snipers and ToM then? Why wasn't people comparing the Gally with snipers like they are doing with the SS? The Gjallarhorn didn't have ToM and black spindle to compete with for an exotic slot. If anything I paired my Black hammer with my Gally for the most effective damage in all situations. Can't do that now since it basically takes up a exotic slot. If you had a year 2 Gally (pre nerfed), would you use it with it's 7 rockets over your ToM on the War Priest, Daughters, and Oryx? The fact that we can't do an honest comparison with the SS and a current Gally makes it hard to determine a true DPS of both weapons. They are Heavy Exotics from two different generations (Year 1 and Year 2). Comparing now, would be like asking who would win in a fight between Tyson and Ali. At this point we will never find out.

작성자: TitanFur 10/9/2015 9:24:49 AMI don't think it's underpowered, more being underwhelming. Bungie made it out to be this great exotic heavy when it's more of an ok one. In my opinion, one of the reasons for this is its exotic perk. Every one already has experience with how successful ricochet rounds are with the Hardlight. I was lucky to get a kill spraying around a corner with the Hardlight, so Bungie's expectation/ thought that a Fusion Rifle rail gun hybrid would be useful to have rounds that bounced off wall is silly. What would have made it a great and fun exotic is if after the second enemy a round penetrated, the next enemy/object it comes into contact with causes the round to explode. That would have made the Sleeper Stimulant very useful in portions of raids with lots of adds.
