I've always had a preference for 'sidearms' in first person shooters and found it quite refreshing to have pistols as a viable primary weapon in Destiny, as this is often not the case with FPSs. I've been using Hand Cannons almost exclusively since day 1 (maybe more like day 20 or so) and until recently they have seemed perfectly viable. With TTK this seems to have changed.
Just to clarify, this is more a problem with PvE than it is with PvP. My Hawkmoon, although slightly neutered, still handles well in the Crucible.
Now I'm ok with the reduced effectiveness at range, mostly. The damage drop off is acceptable but the accuracy (or lack of) at range seems a bit much in my opinion. The main problem for me is the severe lack of reserve ammo (hence why PvP is mostly unaffected).
There was a post on here a week or so ago, titled something along the lines of "HAND CANNONS ARE GARBAGE NEED BUFF!!1!1", at the time I replied defending HCs, stating that they were perfectly fine. With this post I retract this statement.
So what's changed in the last two weeks? Well, I had the pleasure of trying out a certain Dead Orbit Scout Rifle (now my preferred weapon in PvE and performs quite well in PvP too), and a few decent Pulse Rifles also. Apart from a noticeable difference in effective range with both weapon types, it was the amount of reserve ammo for each that really stood out.
Over twice or three times the amount with Scout Rifles, and four to six times the amount with Pulse Rifles (3 round burst probably accounts for this), how exactly is this balanced? With Scout Rifles especially I can deal comparable damage to a Hand Cannon, at much greater ranges (accurately) and on top of this I'm carrying 3 times the amount of ammo?
I get that HCs were maybe a little OP in year 1 but now they hardly even seem viable in PvE...
Anyway, end rant. Bungie, if you would be so kind, please double the reserve ammo on Hand Cannons. Thanks.

3 답변I blame the little whiny babies. Next thing to be nerfed will be pulse rifle or scout rifles.

1 답변This is why I'm looking for an esayluna with range finder(to fix accuracy), agl +2, explosive rounds, reinforced barrel, and performance bonus (fyi it gives you like a mag or half mag in reserves for every couple kills our so)

1 답변Give handcannons a reserve ammo buff and slightly raise the accuracy at long range leave the damage drop off. I just got the ace of spades and i love it but i found that a medium to long range the sight isnt accurate at all the dot can be right on a mobs non moving head and it misses entirely. *switches back to jade rabbit* and there goes that.

1 답변작성자: nextlevelsalty 10/8/2015 6:22:17 AMWhat's really shit me to tears about handcannons is the unecessary accuracy deviation at medium to long range. By all means give Handcannons drastic range drop off, they've always needed that, but don't send my bullets flying everywhere but where I'm aiming at. For a class that depends on precision to deal a lot of damage it's ridiculous. This is especially noticeable in PvP, I can aim my hawkmoon directly at my opponents head within a reasonable range, fire, and have it miss completely whilst they mow me down. It's why I switched to pulse rifles and scout rifles.

I am unsure if you notcied this other change, but what stood out to me about the Hand Cannon nerf was the fact that you have to ADS for a bit before your bullet goes where you are aiming. You can't snapshot with Hand Cannons anymore, which is utter bullshit because it takes away what Hand Cannons are supposed to be: Accurate, high powered quickdraw weapons that reward a skilled hand. They're clunky at best now, so I've switched over to Sidearms and Pulse Rifles.

The only problem I found with hand cannons was the magazine size nerf (un-needed), but they were used too often towards the end of year one and needed the range nerf so you couldn't "snipe" someone across the map in pvp. I realize that pve is your main topic but even still, all I used last year was my fate bringer due to the good ange and damage (perks obviously) and yet I am glad that weapons are more balanced to where I don't huff and puff when I get an auto, scout, pulse rifle, or hand cannon of any type.

1 답변I love, love, love my revolvers, in any game. I was afraid of the first nerf, i adapted. I was afraid of this one, I'm adapting. The reason I've chosen to adapt is time to kill. Even with the new nerf (and that's enough, Bungie!) I can still one shot everything while pulse rifles and auto rifles are chipping them down. I've noticed the changes you speak of but my a.d.d. really gets the better of me and i just plain need that quick kill so i can move on to another. It's boring waiting for their death with other guns! I've also found that we're now living in a perpetual juggler environment: no ammo drops for equipped weapons. What has been helpful has been a more consistent use of my special. When i alternate, i always seem to have enough ammo and kill quickly enough to satisfy the viper in me. Just my two cents :)
