WE MADE A COMPROMISE! I GOT MY XBOX BACK :D
Taken King came out as the holidays began for me, and I was really excited for the 2 weeks of solid playing. I'm 16 years old (grade 10) and can only play 3 hours a day. I played Destiny for 3 hours per day in intervals for most days, but apparently my parents are not happy with this. They say it's "controlling me" when I still help around the house and take regular breaks. (Remember, this is the holidays, meaning no school) They say it's so bad, that they are locking my xbox away. I play 3 hours a day, spread out DURING THE HOLIDAYS and they take away my xbox. This has nothing to do with school, as I am a straight A student.
What are your thoughts in this? Is it unjust? Or do I deserve this.
Edit 1: Thanks so much for the support guys, you really seem to understand. This proves that the destiny community aren't always dicks. Looks like I'll just have to wait a few years. Good thing destiny has a 10 year plan :)
Edit 2: 153 replies! Overwhelming support! I can't believe this, you guys are awesome. I've heard a few interesting ways to help myself with this, including but not limited to:
-Threatening to summon a demon
-Lick a pole and get "No F's given syndrome"
-Annoy the -blam!- out of parents
-Kill parents
Edit 3: I WAKE UP TO 554 REPLIES!
I don't understand this xD Thanks so much
Edit 4: 1024 replies! I don't even know what to say. This is my most replied to thread xD
Out of everything it could have been! Thanks to SmoggyPluto for sharing his view, he's an awesome guy, and thanks to everyone else :)

2 답변I did the same thing with my kids & your parents are probably doing it for the same reasons...... They want you to be healthy, gaming is ok in short doses but sitting still for hrs & hrs glued to a console isn't good for any child. You should be outside playing with your buddies & getting exercise. Also... Online social skills are nothing compared to real life, anyone can talk online but it takes practice to be able to function successfully in the real world. I applaud your parents for being.... PARENTS.

You should make a deal with your parents, to let you continue to play as long as you get good grades. Or you can tell them that when you get to college you'll just pass your classes and play video games all day since they can't control you anymore when you're out of their house. Tell them that Cs get degrees.

14 답변3 hours A DAY is a waste of time. Regardless of your age, that's far too much. 3 hours every couple days, would be much better. Even on break.

2 답변1. Stop playing destiny for a week 2. Sit in your room 3. Stare at the wall 24/7 4. Mumble "rngesus, rngesus" over and over 5. Draw a detailed diagram of kings fall on the wall. 6. Repeat steps 2-5 until they give you your console back.

작성자: TokyoCop 10/5/2015 2:12:21 AMShow your parents the mlg tournament where kids win millions of dollars playing video games professionally in front of hundreds of thousands of fans. Then tell them you may or may not buy them a house depending upon how nice they are when you are crushing opponents

10th grade, 16yrs old, and straight A's.... As long as you're getting your s*** done in school and helping around the house you should have the right to do what you want with your free time. You should definitely have a "CALM" talk with your parents about letting you do what you want with your free time. You seem like a good kid just present a lot of valid facts. Be calm with whatever their decision is doing that should show them that your mature and deserve some extra free time.

I'm 16 as well in grade 10, also a straight A student and pretty good athlete, but with a pro basketball father (overseas, not NBA), and valedictorian mother, I find it hard to get to much in without getting the old, go do something productive thing. That seems pretty tough though. Hope you get back online soon guardian
sorry for the long-winded post
1 답변Wait, you used the word "only" in relation to 3 hours per day? Seriously? I get in 4-5 hours per week. Where are kids getting all this time from?
-
Well at least u get 3 hours, i barely get more than 2 hours unless my moms gone or its a no school day. Today i played for maybe 2 hours tried to get on later & my mom got made, was only able to do 1 game which was the daily crucible. My dad's completely fine if i lock myself in my room for a couple of hours as long as i do all my shit. Yesterday i was finally ready for the raid for the first time, & i went in with no experience cuz i didnt want to ruin the suprise, I had a blast even tho i not got to the war priest. I wanted to do it to get ready for iron banner and trials, I'll be doing the raid again next week Saturday, hopefully i make it to the end

2 답변I love the quote, "time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time." Most hobbies are intrinsically pointless. Painting, playing a instrument, photography, and yes playing video games. The point is not for them to be productive but rather the enjoyment one gets out of them. It's funny that the validity of the hobby many times is based on what other people find valued. So if you play piano and other people think that is worthwhile spending hours playing is fine. The point that any hobby becomes a problem is when you are not meeting other obligations in your life or you have trouble balancing other things. Good luck, I'm sure your parents love you and think they are looking out for your best interests.
