WE MADE A COMPROMISE! I GOT MY XBOX BACK :D
Taken King came out as the holidays began for me, and I was really excited for the 2 weeks of solid playing. I'm 16 years old (grade 10) and can only play 3 hours a day. I played Destiny for 3 hours per day in intervals for most days, but apparently my parents are not happy with this. They say it's "controlling me" when I still help around the house and take regular breaks. (Remember, this is the holidays, meaning no school) They say it's so bad, that they are locking my xbox away. I play 3 hours a day, spread out DURING THE HOLIDAYS and they take away my xbox. This has nothing to do with school, as I am a straight A student.
What are your thoughts in this? Is it unjust? Or do I deserve this.
Edit 1: Thanks so much for the support guys, you really seem to understand. This proves that the destiny community aren't always dicks. Looks like I'll just have to wait a few years. Good thing destiny has a 10 year plan :)
Edit 2: 153 replies! Overwhelming support! I can't believe this, you guys are awesome. I've heard a few interesting ways to help myself with this, including but not limited to:
-Threatening to summon a demon
-Lick a pole and get "No F's given syndrome"
-Annoy the -blam!- out of parents
-Kill parents
Edit 3: I WAKE UP TO 554 REPLIES!
I don't understand this xD Thanks so much
Edit 4: 1024 replies! I don't even know what to say. This is my most replied to thread xD
Out of everything it could have been! Thanks to SmoggyPluto for sharing his view, he's an awesome guy, and thanks to everyone else :)

1 답변I can play two days out of the week but there's no time constraint so I think that's pretty fair

1 답변When I was young Id wake up at 5am... Before my parents and before school to play donkey kong country on the Super Nintendo. Then I'd get to school and talk with friends about where the hidden DK coins were due to limited internet. But I had the same thing where if I was ever grounded they went straight for the console.

47 답변작성자: SmoggyPluto 10/4/2015 11:19:52 PMLol be grateful you have/had the ability to play 3 hours A DAY. I have it much worse. During school (aka not winter, spring, or summer break) I'm only allowed to play Friday's for 4 hours. I can play 2 hours on Sunday OCCASIONALLY if all my grades are exceeding (aka 95ish). ADDITIONALLY, I'm only allowed to play if I exercised for at least an hour each day that week. During holidays however I'm allowed to play 4 hours a day if I exercise for an hour and a half + do extracurricular studies for an hour before I get on. P.S. Whenever I'm rude to my parents or do something wrong they make me do 50 push-ups. You have no idea how degrading it is to do this after your dad constantly misunderstands yelling so that a person can hear you for yelling out of anger... Oh also whenever my grade falls below 90/I do bad on a test I'm not allowed to play whatsoever until I get it back up above 90. And if I accidentally play even a second after I'm not supposed to I get it taken away for a week, then 2 weeks, then a month, two months, esc. I don't finish 95% of the raids I start Lmaoo Sorry needed a place to vent haha

1 답변Damn dude you've at least got it better than I did. I wasn't even allowed to play games until I could afford a console and buy games myself. Parents never gave me money or anything for them. Had to get a job in 10th grade to afford an xbox, and they wouldn't assist me in pirchasing M rated games, had to wait till I was 17 to play pretty much anything that my friends had i.e. Call of Duty, Halo, Bioshock, etc.. Granted I at least could play whenever since they trusted me to do schoolwork and stuff. Imo it's sort of a good thing you're limited. You're less likely to be in as deep as I am into the end game grind lol

작성자: OldGeezerGamer 10/5/2015 2:26:54 AMHonestly they are only trying to help, though it does not seem like it right now. A parents job is to prepare you for the future, and maybe they think your destiny time isn't going to end...aka they think your going to spend 3 hours a day on video games and not on life. Cut em some slack, ask to have a sit down, and just let em know that your current game time is just cuz you like it right now and you don't think it has been affecting you negatively(straight a you said). Show em your old enough to make some decisions but still know your in a learning phase.

1 답변Maybe offer a compromise? You seem to understand your parents see a problem with 3 hours. Maybe try 1.5-2, and after doing another activity.

Try and have a reasonable conversation with them. Sit them down and ask them why this is a punishment for you. There's nothing wrong with questioning your parents if you feel it's unjust unless your parents are just jerks and don't like being corrected. But if you are doing your chores and keeping up your grades and being respectful I don't see the problem.
