So like, I'm just being a titan. Just strolling along my merry way in some crucible. And I come across a Warlock in the wild. Well, I don't wanna die so I jump over him because I see his shotty.
And then it happened...
He bunny hopped into his super to try and Landfall me due to his shiny new exotic gloves. And you know what? It killed me despite me being sky high above him.
So, mind explaining this to me? How is it that Landfall kills people above the Warlock? I'm a bit confused as to how this works since it's name and description offer zero indication that it should affect anyone above the Warlock.
Edit: Omg I didn't think I'd have to spell it out for you guys but I suppose I should have seen this coming. You all (or at least a vast majority of you all) have missed the entire point of this post. I am NOT upset about dying to Landfall. I am NOT upset about Warlocks or Stormtrance or anything of the sort. I am simply confused as to why a perk titled "Landfall" that is described as "On casting Stormtrance, fire a bolt of lightning into the ground, creating a devastating shockwave under you" is able to kill things above as well. It's even in the name, Landfall. It's not like the perk was titled something to give any sort of hint of affecting the area above you such as "Skyrise" (crappy name I know, deal with it).
Edit 2: To those trying to argue with the shallow response of "Tell me why FoH kills me when I'm 30 meters above it then" the answer is in its description. "Smash the ground and dissolve nearby enemies in a maelstrom of Arc Light". For those who don't know what a maelstrom is it is a powerful whirlpool with a strong downdraft that pulls nearby things into it. Going off of that it's not that you are dying to its aoe or even a shockwave above, it's that FoH is literally sucking you into its center and killing you that way. Of course, that would probably be a bitch for them to have added in the needed effects for that so they just shorthanded it and opted for killing anything in range immediately.
Edit 2a: Not to mention, if you could survive FoH by jumping it would only be further solidified as the worst super in the game. And it already is so let's not try to make it any worse.
Edit 3: In case you somehow missed the point of this post (despite Edit 1) I'm going to reiterate. I am not upset about the Warlock, nor Stormtrance, nor Landfall. I have only died that one time to Landfall and 1 whole death is not going to warrant a complaint post. This is a simple question that requires a simple answer. One that I have found now thanks to users shobr0 and one other unnamed person (sorry, your post seems to have drowned in the sea of trolls) who have explained that in the lore it states that Warlocks are unable to channel the lightning themselves but rather, that they can call upon it at anytime and get charged by mother nature to then use as needed. So, that explains it, my question is answered and this post can go ahead and die now. Still, kinda dumb that something that should (probably) be for cool points actually kills but whatever, that's Bungie for you. Always out to show how much more loved Warlocks are than the other classes.

1 답변You do know how lightning works right? It comes from the sky So anything above and below the warlock is instacooked There is a very small AOE that blinds and does a little damage when hit by it

2 답변Fist of Havoc. Now that I have your attention, with the very valid comparison made above salt all you like, let me educate you a little. Stormcaller. Storm. Caller. Caller of storms. Calls electrical storms. Electrical storms such as thunder storms. Which are in a fancy way saying lightning from the -blam!-ing sky. The sky is blue. So is arc. The sky is above you. Impossible machines are lightning rods. Lightning is called, and shot down onto and around the Stormcaller in question. . Now please, how is punching the ground going to cause a literal cylinder of death to spawn? Logically if it's pulling from above it'd pull from all directions, but it doesn't. Fist of Havoc, and again salt all you want, should have an explosion radius both laterally and vertically.

Oh hey it's okay that my fist of fisting killed someone in -blam!-ing orbit above the crucible map but LIGHTNING FROM THE MOTHERFUCKING SKY IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!

These things happen sometimes when they aren't supposed to. Might've been a minor bug/glitch that did it. Or there was a slight difference in both your connections to the server, making it appear as though he/she were under you when really he/she was above you. Or just a simple "didn't notice what actually happened" scenario where he/she killed you with the super normally just as fast as landfall was activated. Could be either of those, but I may be wrong.

작성자: HondoNasty 10/2/2015 7:30:29 PMIf you watch the animation of landfall a bolt of lightning comes down on top of you then hits the ground making the shockwave, so what's so confusing about a bolt of lightning from the sky killing you if you were in the way

Landfall, a lightning strike falls from the sky and hits the ground. It would kill you wherever the Lightning generated (which would be above you, to anywhere near the base of the strike, which is the ground). So anyone near the warlock would die if you are above or standing next to him.
