Here let me answer it to you in a better way.
No they only ascending certain exotics which you can either spend marks on or you can get it through a drop. The year 1 raid gear though will not be ascended again. To be quite honest the new gear is better in many aspects. Welcome tier 2 upgrade on armor and weapons. The only thing that sucks that my primary does not have any elemental damage but it is NOT game breaking.
Welcome to the MMO side of gaming. Now go grind for the newer weapons and armor to light 296 which is easy takes about 1 week in most cases.

There is no way in hell I am gonna go do the year 1 grinding again! also that very day I am going to burn my destiny copy cause I cant play the game anymore. So, to avoid all that - Bungie should officially announce something and stick to it!

I kept certain gear for keepsake only but honestly most of the gear is not must have. I kept ghorn, VOC, swordbreaker, etc. As for armor actually the gear I have would work just fine and better stats. Learn to adapt instead of crying over these minor things. In HOW I used hardly of raid gear and we 3 manned hard mode without issues. See my point
