100% Definite Answer : Will We, Or Will We Not, *EVER* Be Able To Ascend Year 1 Gear ??
Edit 3 : This thread is about a definite, 100% answer to Year 1 Ascension.
Edit 4 : We were the highest rated feedback thread for about 5 minutes. Keep it up :)
Edit 5 : Me, Malphisto, and Lost Sols had *ALL* our top threads butchered. Trying to fix the damage.
Before I say anything, I would ask that everyone "like" or "bump" this post, even if you disagree with me.
Either way, one side will get the answer they are looking for, right or wrong.
Bungie, I am about to dismantle every single piece of armor and weapon from Year 1 that I have, in order to have materials, under the sole and undisputed fact that you will never let us ascend year 1 items.
I have kept my Year 1 weapons and armor my entire career. I have ascended them with every DLC. They are my prized possessions. But now I am told that it is clear and undisputed that we will never have PRACTICAL use for them ever again.
Even with double bank space, there is not enough. I am left to make a choice.
I can either stop gaining new weapons/armor - and just keep my old stuff.
OR.
I can dismantle all of my old stuff, under the pretense it will never be PRACTICALLY useable again, and move on.
Fact of the matter, I don't have the space or the sentimentality to keep these weapons if you are 100% positive you will never ascend them in any way, ever.
SO I ASK YOU ONE LAST TIME, BUNGIE.
Will you *EVER* let us ascend year 1 gear. Even if it's 12 months in the future?
WILL WE EVER GET TO ASCEND YEAR 1 ITEMS TO THE "CURRENT" GENERATION OF POWER?
(example, if it is year 2, year 2 ascension, if it is year 3, year 3 ascension)
I would like a 100%, quotable response that I can hold on to.
I don't want regrets.
I can live, knowing I can never practically use my hard earned year 1 items.
But I will be very sad if I dismantle everything now, only to find out that you change your mind next year.
An answer, please.

EDIT : I appreciate the support. This is starting to look like one of the best threads out there right now to get a definitive answer. Keep it up guys :) I'm not the person keeping this thread at the top of trending and full of bumps. It's you guys. Get your gear back!!

1 답변Considering you can just buy back your year 1 exotics from the wall ipad, i dismantled all mine right away. If they ever let you infuse year one stuff up to year 2, it would definitely lose all of its upgrades since the upgrade system has changed since year 1. So asking this just to keep yourself from salvaging your exotics thinking youll lose them is dumb, since you can get them back whenever you want for 2500 glimmer and an exotic shard

Eventually it will happen. They gave you enough vault space for all the pertinent stuff - old raid weapons and gear. Old exotics can be trashed because of the blueprints You WILL find yourself having to re grind that stuff again if/when Ascension ever happens. Then you will complain about it and the show will go on.

작성자: aisha99 10/1/2015 9:20:32 PMI was relatively certain they would give an upgrade path for older gear later, but after seeing Black Spindle, Imago Loop, Dead Orbit Vendor Hung Jury, etc there are clear successors to the old gear. I don't think we will be able to upgrade old guns. And we all know our "year 2 new" gear will be rendered obsolete in the next DLC too. Although I still play regularly, I invest less and less time with each expansion. If their desire is for us to grind with each new expansion, investment in gear is pointless. For a game centered around loot it's very counter intuitive. I really think there should be a trophy room or RAID/Trials/Special Events Kiosk. You can view all the items you have collected and repurchase a stock version with set stats if you wanted to. Just like with exotics. Then I would happily dismantle all my old stuff.

Bump. I'd like to be able to still use my VoC. I won't die if we can't. I don't really mind either way. I'd like to be able to ascend them, but I fully understand and support why they wouldn't. I want to use them, but if I want to I'll just go use them in Year 1 activities like VoG, Crota, and Skolas. Sure, Year 2 stuff would do better, but it's isn't different damage using Year 1 gear now than it was during Year 1.

Fully agree with you mate. My Vault is full of stuff I'd hate to lose if we ever gain the ability to ascend Year One gear. What I find the really confusing is the fact that Bungie "fixed" Hard Light and Necrochasm with the new weapon rebalancing, only to make them completely useless in PVE a week later by not carrying them over as Year Two Exotics. Is there an upcoming update for them, or should I scrap them and all of my other useless Year One items?

작성자: chrisEm 10/1/2015 7:02:53 PMThe only weapons worth keeping are old raid weapons and maybe a handful of vanguard or crucible drops with good perks. A simple solution would be updating VoG/Crota's End and even Prison to drop redesigned year 1 gear and weapons at year 2 damage and light levels. Solves multiple issues - can dismantle old gear, adds replay ability for newcomers who never experienced old raids and would challenge veterans if some mechanics were changed, more variety and choice for the player in terms of weapon and gear customization, makes old content relevant and worthwhile rather than just being cast aside each time a new dlc drops And maybe they can finally fix that bridge cheese in Crota that is literally still broken.
