To all Atheists and everyone with a religious belief
You have your views. You probably have good reasoning behind them. But that is your view. That's cool.
There are other people with different views. Some are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or follow some other religion or are Atheist. They have their views and probably have good reasoning behind them. That's cool.
What's not cool is forcing your views down someone else's throat except when they do the same to you. You're not achieving anything whilst shitting on someone else's beliefs, especially over here on Bungie.net.
And for the record, I'm a Agnostic Muslim.
Edit 1: I've seen a lot of people saying Christians are the ones knocking on people's doors and shoving religion down others throats. Well, if you do the same over here, just with Atheism, then how are you any different from them?
Also, 130 replies so got a thread going.
Edit 2: 250 replies. I'll try to reply to every post but I'm only human so I apologize if I don't. Also, changed the title as many people pointed out, this applies to everyone and not just atheists.

As an atheist, most of my time spent discussing religious matters is not about expressing my opinion, but instead pointing out that what theists often claim as fact is simply an unproven assertion -it's just their opinion. "Jesus is the son of god". That is an opinion, not a proven fact. "Gay people are committing an unnatural act as shouldn't be allowed to be married". Again, opinion, not fact. The point here is that if you can't [i]prove[/i] something is true then you really have no right to try to make others live by it. And there's no reason why I should respect a belief based on something other than proof. So things like denying gay people the right to marry are fundamentally unfair if you're unable to at least come up with a rational argument about why they shouldn't. Pointing out that they lack proof isn't at all equivalent to claiming my opinion is fact.

1 답변You have the right to believe anything you want. That doesn't mean people can't or won't criticize those beliefs. Also, the generalizing you do here is pretty ridiculous. Saying all atheists shove their beliefs down peoples throats is like saying all religious people are ignorant bigots. There are assholes and cool people from every group of people.

1 답변In the most non hostile manner possible I ask, how are you agnostic Muslim? Agnosticism is the belief you cannot prove there is or isn't a superior being. Basically not confirming or denying anything. The only logical reason I could think is that you don't believe or deny in the superior being that Muslims do, but still follow the way of life, is that correct? Once again, just a question and not meant to be hostile. I'm agnostic as well.

11 답변See the funny thing is, most atheists don't do that. Religious people do. I personally don't believe in a higher power, but my grandmother messages me a couple times a month saying I'm going to hell for not believing and telling me to repent for my sins. I have at least 10 more family members who will do this whenever I see them in person. I see most atheists just saying that they don't believe in God, and most are pretty reasonable about it. Religious people ew don't get me started...

Someone getting into an argument on the internet is comparatively inconsequential.
