The Taken Kings Scam Debate.
Many people who have not payed for TTK have been locked out of the the content that was previously purchased and find it unfair. ( Me for one)
Others defend the game on the basis that it is worth it and being forced to buy the game to get your content back is completely fair .
I will be looking back on here from time to time. So with that Adios!!
Note : This is not just a blind argument we are here to find common ground and make the game better.

1 답변Here's my opinion. From the very beginning bungie has said they're running a ten year release program on this game. That being said, in order for the game to progress, it has to be updated, built upon, and modified. If you thought you could keep going without paying, you were mistaken. Sadly it's not about being Fair or unfair. It's about bungie trying to make the best game they can while Activision holds a leash so tight bungies eyeballs are popping out. Cause at the end of the day? We all know bungie well enough to say this is not their usual way of doing things. However things have changed quite a bit since Activision came into the picture.

I agree its underhanded to lock content out just for not buying a dlc that was originally in game. Granted I do not know the extent of what is locked out. I also agree that ttk is well worth the 40 bucks. Basically giving you a new game. I guess you'll either quit the game altogether, continue playing what you can or simply buy the dlc. I also understand bungies marketing strategy by making profits from dlc since its unable to do so through a subscription fee and I'm perfectly fine with that. I feel it's worth investing in in this ever evolving game.

2 답변I guess my biggest problem with people complaining about how TTK should be free is that logically there isn't any merit to the idea that it should be. Surprisingly many people still don't understand that for "online" games like destiny, it costs money to keep servers up and running and I'm sure your parents already told you that money don't grow on trees. Selling DLC is necessary to keep making money, even in the case of ridiculously moronic skin packs (have at me CoD fanboys). Bungie isn't just gonna sit on your money and laugh, they're using it to make more servers, better servers, and to fix and create content for us. Also, your content isn't "locked away". It still exists. You'll be able to play it again at some other point. People are treating it like its just horrible of Bungie to advertise their new content rather than letting people who don't want to support the game continue to play their worn out and old missions. Its like if McDonald's came out with a new 5 patty burger, advertised the shit out of it, and then never put it on any menu or even taught employees of its existence. I guess I just don't understand what makes you feel entitled to the new content. Its like you bought a cardboard box, sat in it and then complained there isn't a pool in it. On a side note, OP if you're waiting for reviews you should really wait few months. This is an update that's true score will be tested with replay-ability farther down the line.

1 답변Dude u paid to reach light level 34. Thats ur max. Why should we the people who paid for the tkk have to run a lvl 32 nightfall for the rest of the year. It is also costly and time consuming to create a vanilla destiny experience just for u people who dont want to buy the expansion.

1 답변If everything was available, you would have a lot of trouble finding a team for much of anything. Most of the community has moved on, so the limited playlists actually will help you find other players to play with, as it will consolidate the subset of players without TTK.

The only reason you're locked out of content (I.e nightfall which is the only real complaint besides subclasses) is because the endgame content is a mix of old and new. Sure, they could do it like HoW and TDB, but it's inaccessible without first playing through the story. Also, you need the new gear which you also can't get without TTK. Even if it was available to you, you'd never have the ability to access it without the new gear, so what are you really complaining about? It's not Bungie's fault you can't afford it, but if you chose not to buy it on your own free will, then that's really your own problem. They shouldn't have to keep handing out free stuff to people who aren't willing to support the game. You're gonna have to pay for something sooner or later, or just quit.

1 답변And what would you achieve by doing the weekly Heroic or Nightfall? Vanguard marks are no more and Legendary marks would enable you to buy armour / weapons that you're not entitled to. Strange coins? When Xur starts selling Year 2 exotics, you're not entitled to them either, and what would be the point in him selling Year 1 exotics that have been made redundant by 'greens', that you then wouldn't be entitled to ascend. What you have left is everything you are entitled to and always were. What I do believe however is that vanilla Destiny never had enough content to begin with, this is your real complaint, even so we chose to give the store our money. Now Destiny + tDB / HoW + Taken King is actually a proper (and very good) game. But we chose to pay more than arguably we should have had to, to get there. And that's capitalism, but democracy allows us to say yes or no. Of course if you don't want to pay for what Bungie is offering, play something else.

Dont get me wrong 40 dollars for at least a years gaming is fantastic value but has the exchange rate vanished? Not the last time i checked. The 40 pounds is for the stand alone content not full game and TDB /HOW.

You complain about a game that an expansion or xpac. Thats what taken king should be considered as, is an xpac. Just like world of warcraft most weapons become obsolete and most armor does too. Now for you who im assuming is a call of duty gamer or battlefield badass, The gaming world of mmos is different. Yes deatiny is an mmo it has a main hub, has player based raids and dungeon finder tools with pvp/arenas. So like any mmo there are expansions to it, complaining that the xpac is over priced based on the fact it comes with 2 other dlcs and a game disc is uncalled for. People just getting into the game dont want to spend however much the original game is plus the two other dlcs and this expansion. All in all this is a deal to get new players playing this game. And for people who say "40$ is nothing" actually it honestly is something to people who work for it, i may have extra money to throw at destiny but i needed some other things first before a want. (Which destiny is). While 40$ is alot and 60$ to 80$ is more i do not thinking this expansion is overpriced. Gaming has become the new "do i want gas this week, or the new game that came out". If you dont want to play this xpac then leave and dont complain, i go to electrical school and then straight to work coming home around 10ish at night. So that leaves me very little play time and what i did plAy of the xpac was perfect in my opinion, very well laid out story and plot. Dont like it, dont buy.

Now that TTK is the latest content the Nightfall now features THAT content. So no you don't get to do the Nightfall because the Nightfall features new content. Content that you have not paid for. So please stop acting as if Bungie came into your game and pulled all of the missions and gear from your bleeding fingers and pissed on your Ghost. This is how expansion based games have operated for YEARS now. The new expansion comes out with new gear, new missions, and a new level cap. That new content is then featured front and center in every way and the old content is pushed off to the side. WoW, Diablo, SWTOR etc etc have followed this design for years. This is not new and this not shocking. They did it for TDB and they did it for HoW, but they did it on a smaller scale because they were smaller packages. TTK is essentially Destiny 1 part 2. So of course its impact on the day to day functionality of the game is gonna be MUCH more noticeable and much more profound. You paid for content. You got that content. You [i]still have[/i] that content. You can still play that content. [i]Features[/i] such as the endgame activities however will always be geared toward the latest content and if you don't have that content then you obviouslly cannot participate in the features that use that new content. The same goes for the levelcap as well. You paid for the level-cap to be increased in each of the new DLC's that came out because they were TIED to that content and you need that gear in order to REACH that new cap. They have now raised it again and have tied that cap to the new gear. Gear you don't have access to because you have not paid for it yet. So of [i]COURSE[/i] the Vendors are going to be selling the latest and greatest gear. Do you honestly think that they should still be selling old level Vanilla gear like Shadow Price or The Devil You Know even though its been outclassed ages ago? I understand that you are upset that your options are limited now because the content you bought is no longer[i] featured[/i], but don't sit their and claim that it is no longer there or that you no longer have access to it. Honestly nobody is FORCING you to buy anything. The structure of mmo's is that as new releases hit the overall game changes and the stuff that becomes endgame moves on. If you want to continue playing pay up. If not truly there are some other great games out there. I enjoyed Destiny year 1, year 2 is already loads better. Your loss if you don't continue.

5 답변Honestly, if you intend to continue playing, to the point where it bothers you not having access to these features, why not buy TTK? I assure you it's worth the price. You have to expect that as Destiny moves on, those who don't keep up to date will and should be left behind. It's like claiming to be a fan of Lord of the Rings when you've only seen the first film.

I'm torn on this. I personally have bought it, so have no concerns but a friend hasn't bought it. Him being unable to do anything other than level 20 vanguard strikes and being limited on crucible playlists pretty much restrains him to doing PoE, Crota or VOG but let's be honest, the number of people playing these is so limited it'll be a struggle to find anyone anyway. Considering he has spent £80 on this game it does take the piss he's now been restricted to such an extent.

9 답변Show when you were sold weeklies, dailies and nightfall, when where theses specified as content you own. When were you sold specific crucible play lists ? Anything that show me you were sold them. You own what you have, story, mission, strike, raid, crucible formats. The stuff you cant play is provided for you and not sold to you.

5 답변Just the way of the MMO/RPG genre, One reason why TTK includes all the previous expansion. For example If you played World of Warcraft and did not purchase the Cataclysm expansion you were not able to play. It is just the nature of the persistent evolving game world of the MMO/RPG style genres. .

2 답변Just wait for when it goes on sale and play something else OR go find 2 old ladies and mow their lawns. You could also sell things you dont really need; for example your bed, your microwave oven, your phone, all your socks, semen/eggs, your well being (drug trials), plasma, naked pics of yourself to catholic priests, cancel brazzers subscription, car stereos, fake weed to dumb 6th graders, or teach classes on how to want something but not go out and get it. Bungie is a business with lots of overhead and employees trying to produce the best possible product. These incredibly talented people cant feed their families off of your good will or desire. Sorry dude.

If you buy an online only game like Destiny that has serious MMORPG undertones and don't buy or plan to ever buy DLC then you cannot complain about being locked out of anything. The game type requires DLC to progress. If you don't wish to buy DLC for games then don't buy games that rely on expansions. The fact that they add in tons of other content each DLC for vanilla players should be considered good enough.
