The Plan of Action very effectively shuts off all of Iran's paths to a nuclear weapon for fifteen years and provides other safeguards against Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons indefinitely. Even in a worst-case scenario - where Iran kicks out all international inspectors and races for a bomb - for at least ten to fifteen years, the breakout time for one nuclear weapon would be roughly one year. Most significantly, the Plan of Action decisively shuts down the plutonium pathway for fifteen years, and in all likelihood much longer.
Basically the Iran deal is a diplomatic solution to an international problem, that we should be supporting. It achieves the goal of preventing Iran from having a path to a nuke, without sacrificing American lives.
Yes war is always an option, but it should be the last option. Not the first and only option.
Discuss.
Edit: The Secretary of Energy, one of the main proponents and organizers of the Iran deal, who is also a nuclear physicist, discusses the deal.

15 답변This seems like a pretty stupid idea to me. So, in theory this stops them developing a nuke for 15 years, but it also lifts embargoes that will allow them to buy modern weapons? With a leader who despises the west and supplies terrorist groups? What's to stop them from buying a ton of new weaponry and making nukes anyway?

5 답변This is a terrible idea and Obama only doing this so he can pad his presidency resume. You have the supreme religious leader in Iran still calling for the destruction of the west and Israel and they're allowing them more access to global weaponry. 'But we can now inspect their nuclear facilities', Iran can back out of this at any point and the UN nuclear inspectors must give 4 weeks notice before a inspection can commence. This is more than enough time to hide or move and nuclear arms. I'm glad my Canadian government isn't supporting this and I hope this doesn't come back to bite the states in the ass.

5 답변It's an awful idea. That lifts embargoes allowing them access to better weapons. Weapons that will just end up in the hands of the goat -blam!-ing terrorists

2 답변
“This is a good deal for the United States,” said President Clinton. “North Korea will freeze and then dismantle its nuclear program. South Korea and our other allies will be better protected. The entire world will be safer as we slow the spread of nuclear weapons.”
- Der

1 답변작성자: DB5 9/15/2015 10:00:41 PMI feel compelled to post this again, yet in clarified fashion: For all those afraid of Iran getting a nuke, the Iran deal makes the US' military option far stronger. That alone should be enough to get you on board.

12 답변My question is why are Americans so scared poopless about Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon when Israel most likely has them and they are not being inspected by the UN? To be honest, I'm more afraid of a nuclear Israel than I am a nuclear Iran.

4 답변Either way, the U.S will probably end up at war with Iran. It's just a matter of time.

6 답변Obama is a thoughtful and committed pacifist. He has a difficult time convincing foreign leaders that he is anything else. That is not a problem, and is even a plus, in dealing with smaller countries posing no threat to the US. But larger countries and/or those with expansionist aims, such as Russia, China, and Iran, sense that the Obama years are a window of opportunity for them to favorably redefine the dynamics of international power. In recent years they have been deftly maneuvering the US into a position of realpolitik irrelevance on the world stage. So far they seem to have succeeded.

3 답변Your -blam!-ing retarded. Obama be like "oh let's give them a money and we have to give them a 30days notice before we come to check if there gonna make a nuke" They can make nuke with $ They can move the nuke in 30 days. Gg Good bye Israel Fricken liberals

1 답변Yea I'm not quite sure what the fuss is about. Through this deal, Iran's nuclear program is drastically reduced in pretty much every category. The only thing they get is relief from sanctions. Not sure where the 'we're basically giving them a nuke!' conclusion came from. Im somewhat conservative, but the Right is wrong on this...

1 답변We let them inspect their own nuclear sites. How the hell does that sound remotely logical

3 답변>Implying that Iran would actually follow any deal Iran declared the West an enemy and as they follow the Quran, it explicitly States they do not have to honor any deal with infidels and may even outright lie to them.
