After TTK launches:
-We have to grind XP to get levels.
-We have to grind levels to be able to equip gear
-We have to grind gear to raise our Light
-We have to grind Light to kick ass
How does this sound awfully familiar... ? Like I have done this before.. ?
Could it be that when I started Vanilla destiny I had to:
-grind XP to get levels.
-grind levels to be able to equip gear
-grind gear to raise our Light
-grind Light to kick ass
Just saying..
EDIT 1: No im not complaining.. Just wondering why they added the new mechanics when they work exactly the same way as the old mechanics.
EDIT 2: My point being.. Why did Bungie spend so much $$$ and resources to overhaul this new mechanic that does work exactly the same way as the old mechanic. Why not direct those rescources to something like creating more content?
Edit 3: I <3 grinding. Please stop making assumptions that Im somewhat upset about the game being repetive.
Edit 4: So few of the guardians have explained to me, that the new light system is more flexible with the damage reduction system. And this is a perfectly valid point which I agree to. But still, the new system makes us just as dependant with the RNG as the old system. I remember Bungie advertising the changes coming because they didnt want Guardians to be dependant on the RNG.

To your first edit... They had two leveling modes, the traditional mode, and then the conceptual "end game" leveling mode. Based on the feedback received from this forum, and other places, people and/or Bungie simply did not like that mechanism after it was in the wild. Feedback and play stats from millions of people is simply something that you will never get from closed sessions or pre-release feedback. There is just a feasible limitation to the number of man-hours that can be dedicated. As to your second edit - it is apples and oranges. The people who add new content are level designers, not UI developers, gameplay developers, physics developers, etc. Different disciplines have different responsibilities. One team is not going to sit by for another to do something, when there are other things to be done. Just because one team has high priority work in their backlog, it does not mean that others do. In my opinion, this update continues to show that they actually do have a well run development team. There are massive amounts of work that are being done, and the developers, ultimately, are following marching orders. They are not the ones making decisions, although they likely do have some level of input on it. Any good team will learn from its users and adapt - and that is a process that takes time. Whether the choices are ones to be agreed with or not, it is way, way, way too early to tell.

1 답변They also have changed the rng aspect greatly, it now keeps track of drops to try to not give you the same items a bunch, and now strikes have their own armor/weapons from them that will be pretty good quality. And you can now use any other armor pieces and weapons to upgrade your items to higher stats

7 답변It will always be a grind no matter what. It's how we grind that matters. At least with new system. You won't have people getting screwed put of a level requirement because they get shafted by drops.

2 답변Re: edit 2. They did it because it is simpler to understand, especially for new players. They also decided tying your actual level to your gear through RNG was a bad idea. Have you ever tried to explain Light Level to someone before? It made the time period after lvl 20 very confusing, which is where they lost a lot of their players. It's where you're depending on RNG drops to rank up to the point where you can start grinding strikes, to get marks, to get vanguard gear, to start raiding. Now, in a way, Light Level simplified the end game. Other MMO style games had quality tier items, and Light Level just streamlined that by tying level with item quality. But, again, it also put you solely at the mercy of RNG. Now, while I expect Light to be a factor, I doubt it'll be the end all, be all, that Light level was. You'll still likely be effective at end game content, even if you're not in all end game gear. So, at the end of the day, nothing's really changing, it's just easier and more intuitive to understand. Everyone understands time = XP = level, and everyone understands gear quality.

작성자: TheMedic44 9/10/2015 3:53:44 PMIt's a little easier to understand. Did you ever have to explain the leveling system to somebody before? It's ridiculous to a new guardian. it should be as easy as :oh you aren't this level: don't do this content. Instead of it being 34 level plus 331 attack It's 170 light done deal. below that? Don't do this content or you will have trouble. I'm so glad it's not: you have to have 121 points of light to be 32 and if not, you take 30% more damage from 32 enemies; as a level 31. Plus your weapons have to be 331 damage to do Max damage to them, and if it's less than max nobody knows how much damage you are really doing, but it's not max.

I am in the same boat: 1) I really love playing Destiny 2) the approach to level, weapon and armor progression is convoluted and hard to see as an improvement. Sure - the new system appears beneficial to new players, but my biggest concern is that with special attributes now applied to ghosts and marks, the wide variety of options could become almost fictional, because certain items will need to be equipped to maximize performance. Ultimately it will all come down to the overall quality of experience - we've all experienced games with complex approaches to gear, but......were you still playing them a decade later? That appears to be the experiment Bungie wants to undertake. I'm on board today, but I will freely admit that with a lot of great games on the horizon, I suspect that year 2 is going to be a make-or-break year where my attention is concerned. I can understand the complexity in a world where I have lots to do and explore, but Destiny is not an exploration game, as much as it likes to think of itself as such. It's a beautiful shooter with lovely scenery, that struggles to give the player a reason to get passionate about killing everything that moves, with no cohesive story or true sense of peril to drive the action. Here's to the sincere hope that this game world does not get mismanaged into history. (raises glass)

3 답변I'm not sure what you were expecting. It seems like you wanted drastic changes like it was going to be completely different game. What would you have liked them to do?
not asking in disrespectful way just making conversation
4 답변작성자: l MGW l 9/10/2015 3:23:21 PMBingo! Nothing has changed, but Bungie puts a new paint job on an old car and says it's different and all the desticles assume the knee pad position and say "yes sir! May we have some more?!" Don't get me wrong, I love the changes and love the direction this game is headed. But the only thing that's really changed is the level cap was raised to 40 and our light level is now a 3 digit number instead of a 2 digit number. I personally like the changes because the new interfaces are refreshing, and I'm not staring at the same old system. But the core essentials of leveling up and raising new your light high enough to conquer activities has not changed at all. They also continue to improve RNG, so that is the only true mechanical change that they continue to make. The tiers have actually weakened us for the time being, making our cool downs all slow as hell. However, armor, gear, and weapons necessary to raise our light level doesn't look to be as hard as it was at any point in year 1 (which got progressively easier over the course of the year), so that is nice. Now expect a bunch of desticles to insult me instead of arguing my points with something logical and coherent.

LOL its all about perception ... You are smarter then the average mindless drone walking on this planet... Most just need a label on a product that says NEW and believe it... Like the washing powder commercials in 80's and 90's ... every week the formula was NEW and IMRPOOFED ;-) Loads of people buy in to this stupidity ... I understand bungie uses this tacktic a little as well... its almost normal nowadays... so normal people dont notice all the NEW anymore in super markets ;-) but in games it still works...

7 답변" Why not direct those rescources to something like creating more content?"..um, i was under the impression we were getting 10 new story missions that will take 6-7 hours to complete, 5 new PvP maps, and new modes, new sub classes, new strikes, new raid. new weapons, and on and on and on..you dont call that new content? the free 2.0 patch was to address what they perceived as flaws in the game (and from feed back from the player community) you also dont have to be dependent on RNG, you could always buy the gear to increase your light level. you are only dependent on RNG if you want the absolute best gear the game has to offer. and just like many many many many games out there in the world, that type of gear isnt handed to you on a silver platter (with the exception of Xur :) ), you have to "grind" for it and hope you get lucky.

작성자: AcidRohnin 9/10/2015 1:50:57 PMThis is the way I see it: -The level cap at 40 which requires on exp is for the kids, new guardians and very casual players. Basically everyone can acquire the highest in game level. It gives all these players something to shoot for regardless of skill or how much time they can dedicate to it. It's a goal to strive for in the game. -Light level. This factors in to endgame and higher "level" content. This is what the average to hardcore player will strive for. From what I've seen there is no longer a lvl 28 for heroic. I tried to do one on mars and it said 240* impossible. *=light level -and rising gear is actually a good move. While it might seem more grindy, if done properly, majority of guardians would looks different and more unique. Basically and armor that can be "infused" or whatever they are calling it can be up in exp by offering up higher level gear to it.
