Huge misconception going on. Need clarification Bungie!
Exotic weapons. Do they or do they not upgrade to year two? I understand what a version 2.0 is. I get that it's a newer version with a different look and some new stats/perks. What we didn't hear anything about though is how to upgrade an exotic we have right now to the same status as year two weapons.
It was stated in the stream that infusion is only for year 2 weapons. So we can't use other guns to upgrade old exotics. So do we need to have a new one drop for us at a higher attack rating? Will they drop at a higher attack rating? Is there some sort of etheric light to upgrade them?
Would love a dev response!

Edit 2: A lot of people don't understand what the question is here. I'm not wondering how exotics get upgraded to a 2.0 version of said exotic. Bungie was pretty clear on how that works. The question is, how does exotic x get upgraded from 160 damage to 280 damage but still stay exotic x instead of turning into exotic xv2.0.
Edit 3: So it's come to my attention that there are screen caps of LBN at 160 attack value while not leveled up. This could mean that fully upgraded it might be the same as a v2.0 exotic which would be great. But then again they showed the Necrochasm and it's fully upgraded as soon as you apply the crux and it was a lower attack value. So it still remains unseen as to what will happen with our beloved exotics.
Edit 4: So Bungie tweeted that new questions would be answered tomorrow in the update. Hopefully this is one of those questions!
Edit 5: It's official. Not all exotics will be able to be upgraded. R.I.P.

I feel as if my experience is on rails and I'm only allowed to play and look how bungie wants me to. I understand taking legendary weapons. But why Exotics. They fill niche rolls in builds and playstyles. What about voidwalker and sunsinger? Do they just not get exotics anymore? Is bungie just too lazy to balance all the weapons they add into one sandbox? How can they design a game with the motto "become legend" if you're just playing a streamlined experience with limited choices as to how you play. Exotics should live forever. I want to attach myself to a weapon and use it indefinitely, but only exotics. Maybe I love Necrochasm and would like to master it and use it 5 years from now. Maybe I like the way Crota Gear looks and would like my guardian to be hive/taken oriented. Why can't we have a completely cosmetic transmog system. Why do I have to use the same guns. I don't want my favorite weapon to be seasonal. Why does the year two upgrades only include "Community favorites"? I don't use them. Why can't you cater to everyone? Just let exotics live on. This is so elementary of bungie. Getting a lot of positive feedback. I appreciate it guys. Bungie needs to be pitched these ideas in this way. From an educated perspective, give good reasoning and constructive criticism. No raising our voices and calling names. They are much more likely to listen. Make threads on this subject, spread this. These are some of the few things holding destiny back from being great.

That was the question I was looking to get an answer to. And I was right with my assumption about that. So, they screwed us completely. Spending money for Destiny in 2014 and then shutting 1.0 down so we could no longer use the old stuff. VoG, Crota, PoE and Vanilla game stuff are totally worthless now...shame Spending 100€ to keep nothing, nice move Bungie and Activision!

2 답변Clarification: Having Y1 exotic allows you to buy the Y2 exotic for 125 marks, which you then have to relevel. However, not all exotics have Y2 version. The Y1 versions have lower stats unleveled, but it's unknown how high they go when leveled.

Only some exotics from year 1 are able to get upgraded to year 2. You can upgrade them for glimmer and an exotic shard. When you upgrade it you get the year 2 version of the exotic not leveled up so you have to re level it , since it is the year 2 version when it is fully upgraded it will have year 2 exotic stats

I don't think there's middle ground. That's why they said for a few hours your old weak s are relative. Until you get to 40, you're using your 180 exotic. Even then, only select exotic weapons will be available as year 2. They'll release more yr2 blueprints and as long as you have the year 1 blueprint, once the yr2 is released you'll have it. I think they probably do this so you don't get to lv 40, get a yr2 gally, and start lv 40 required events. They probably want you to work for a while. But to answer your question, as I understand there is not middle ground between the yr1 180 attack exotic vs the yr2. Once you hit 40 just dismantle the yr1 and create a yr2.

1 답변They answered this question. You cannot upgrade your year 1 into a year 2. But if you have a year 1, and it has a year 2 counter part available, you can buy the newer version. You can also Xurn it or wait for it to drop. You cannot upgrade a year 1 into year 2 though. They were clear as day about this.

6 답변Did they give any clarification on whether or not Etheric Light would be used? If not, then I guess I should just spend the 30+ I've been hanging onto. I was going to use 12 to max out a full set of Iron Banner gear for each character, but I guess that would be kind of worthless now since none of the old armor can be upgraded to the new level max. Sheesh. Thanks Bungie!

For example, I have SUROS yr 1, do I automatically get to buy SUROS year 2 as soon as I'm lvl 40 with appropriate marks?

Yes please! Further clarification about the nature of all exotics. How will we use exotic shards that we currently have after TTK? Why does the "Infuse " require a weapon/gear with a higher value? Let us infuse our year one legendaries too, just give it a lower percentage of increase to the weapon/gear that it infuses than the higher value gear. I understand why the infuse option is set up the way it is now. But why do they think we needed more Vault space? Because the majority of us have collected so many legendary weapons/armor.
