See all kinds of posts from guardians in regards to shogun range.
And I'm wondering if that's even the problem.
Why don't shotguns have a greater amount of projectiles that spread ... instead of just lowering the drop off. .
Like really in pve the only way to use a shotgun now is if you stand right up in somethings face .. and in punching range..
Maybe you'd see less shotgun punch combos if you didn't have to be less then an inch away.
Seriously.. the muzzle of the shotgun actually glitches into the foes..
Yes you basically have to jam the thing up their assets for it to be effective.
What is it that makes a shotgun deadly..?
...the wind that comes out the end... or the projectiles...?
Birdshot < buckshot < slug..
Usually I don't like to say anything and just work with what I'm issued.
I used the original shitguns and what we have now are a slight improvement for pve... and by slight I mean we can actually justify the risk taken for the damage.
Would be nice to cover a hall with the shotgun instead of the two inches of space that exist in front of the muzzle.
Does the falloff need to be so extreme?

It is a video game TROPE that shotguns are essentially "point-blank" weapons. I'm only half joking that FPS gamers whine that shotguns are OP, unless someone is standing on your shadown and shoving it up your ass when they pull the trigger. However shotguns are ANYTHING but that in real life...and at the range at which they get used in Destiny....they would not only kill you in one shot (easily) they would massively OVER kill you. As in relieving your shoulders of the burden of carrying around your head.... What makes shotguns especially deadly is their design....we're going to get very scientific and medical here, but bear with me. When ever you are struck by any kind of a missle, the damage you take is a product of three things: One....how much ENERGY of motion (kinetic energy) is carried in the missle. Two. How much of that energy can be concentrated in a small spot. Three how MUCH of that energy gets transfered to the victim. As far as energy-of-motion, it is a product of mass ("weight" for purposes of this discussion) and velocity/speed. Speed is much more important than mass. Energy goes up in direct proportion to the increase in weight...but to the SQUARE of velocity. Which is why a rifle bullet is so much more deadly than an arrow or a thrown knife or stone. What makes shotguns uniquely deadly are points two and three. Rifle bullets carry tremendous energy....but are able to concentrate their energy into a very TINY spot...so they PENETRATE into the body very deeply. So much so that they often go all the way through. This actually REDUCES the damage done, because not all of the energy carried by the bullet is deposited in the victim. Some of it gets carried away. Shotgun projectiles (otoh) move more slowly. They are often bigger (in terms of overall mass) and "shot" spreads out. So the projectiles tend to have less ability to concentrate their energye and PENETRATE.. But in return (especially at close range) a shotgun is much more likely to deposit ALL of that energy into the victim. So you wind up getting MASSIVE amounts of "blast" damage done to tissue. But that ability (and energy) drops off (over distance) much faster than it does with single projectiles like rifle rounds. So shotguns trade increased lethality for decreased accuracy and decreased range. Rifles sacxrifice SOME degree of lethality for signfiicant gains in both accuracy and range.

They have to though , otherwise what would be the point in using a primary at all? Unless they made it a power weapon(with heavy ammo) and make it spawn in one place, only once, and everyone has to fight over the ammo.

2 답변It's not the shotguns that piss people off. It's the maps+a moderately high mobility game. If we had bigger maps in regular rotation you would start to see variety

This is the first bungie game since halo ce where you didn't need to actually press the shotgun into the enemy to do damage. It was nice, but now it's trending back to having to stick it up the enemies $$ to be effective.

2 답변The prunella not the guns it's that the maps are too small for anything else to be logical. Do you play battlefield? No one uses shotguns u less it's a tiny map. People just close in way too fast in this game for any other gun to be useful

Less Damage. One hit kills require Precision hits on the magnitude of 4-6 pellets out of 12. Range is good, if not too short. Damage reduction allows for competition between RoF and Impact for Shotguns. Either shoot twice to the Body or once to the head. Its more competitive than who has the best shotgun, or who shot first.
