Year 2 - Leave Year 1 problems in the past.

I'm a beta player with well over 1,000 hours clocked. I've done pretty much everything in the game to date. I love Destiny, I am not a Destiny hater. But enjoying something doesn't mean we should not push for constant improvement. Year 1 has been a fun but flawed experience. A lot of mistakes have been made and a lot of learning has taken place. From the start of year 2 excuses are no longer acceptable from Bungie. We expect all of the learning to be put to good use. What does leaving year 1 problem behind mean? I think we should expect the following: - No more obvious raid cheeses, for example despawning enemies or pushing/falling off cliffs. - QA weapons for obvious issues such as Black Hammer. Black Hammer was a raid weapon that didn't work in the raid. That is inexcusable. - Improved AI, no more sitting on a rock to avoid or delay encounters. PoE and Crota's End are culprits. - I've removed the leashes line after much thought. I want enemies to pursue us though and not give up when we enter a certain area. Strikes are big culprits currently. - No more skipping sophisticated encounters in favour of cranking the difficulty dial to 11 - No more dumb loot drops. A player should never get two Vex Mythoclast in one run etc. - Weapon balancing and fix patches issued regularly. Black Hammer was fixed after Crota's End's relevance expired. Necrochasm will be 6 month old when it finally becomes worthy of welding for reasons other than laughs. - No more invincible cheats in PVP. You have the stats in real time, act upon them. - No more loot not being received because all slots are full. You know storage space is insufficient. - No more blue engrams awarded to players who get 40 kills in crucible. - And finally a wishful dream, no more players getting booted because Destiny has barebones networking in place. I love Destiny, I have enjoyed year 1 but now you have to put 365 days of feedback into action. Do not let us down. EDIT 1: Something obvious I forgot that many have said is for better efforts at storytelling or rather some effort at all. I got use to no story so didn't even think about that. EDIT 2: Even though I stated things clearly here there are several who don't get it. I understand that bugs and glitches and cheeses will always exist. What should not exist is the same bugs and glitches and cheeses. Armed with knowledge of year 1, year 2 should be a better experience for everyone. EDIT 3: We are trending, thank you guardians for your support. We all love Destiny and want year 2 to be fueled by the wisdom gained in year 1. EDIT 4: I've changed the title from 'year 1 - no excuses' to 'year 1 - Leave year 1 problems in the past' as 'no excuses' has created a misconception that year 2 should be perfect. EDIT 5: Nearly 150 shows of support and 600 comments. Thank. This thread is evolving like the game is. We've all walked a similar path in Destiny, we don't want to retread through the same problem areas as we have already. EDIT 6: It seems some of the community did not get Black Hammer until the problems were fixed. Black Hammer dropped for many in December 2014. The perks 'white nail' and 'hive disruptor' conflicted leading to the latter perk being disabled and only being fixed around May 2015 some 6 months later. As a minimum, all raid weaponry should be tested to make sure they will work as intended in the raid. EDIT 7: It also appears that there are the usual people who read the title and think this is a self-centered post. Any one who has taken the time to read through the original pre-edit content (thank you if you have) will know that this is about highlighting common issues we experienced in year 1 and not having them carry over to year 2.

    • The people who can't finish endgame content legit will overwhelm the people that like a challenge, and eventually even if Bungie makes a legitimate raid with no cheeses people will cry, and whine until Bungie makes it easier so it's a losing battle you're fighting here.

      • Lol it's nice to complete a raid without cheesing, BUT the cheesing was sort of fun because it mixed things up a bit. But I get it. Bungie better get it right this time.

      • I mean the game has only been out for a year and the company who made it didn't have prior experience making an mmo style video game. People just notice these mistakes so much more than any other video game because people like op have 1000+ hours and I'm willing to bet most people have never really put so much time into a game to notice it's flaws over and over again on a daily basis.

      • Well said OP! I don't see how a game that is entirely based around being connected to the Internet has so many problems with their network. You would think they would have foreseen something like this and dealt with it accordingly. Especially with the deep pockets of Activision.

So far they have talked about more complicated mechanics but they won't truly abrogate the incentives for cheesing unless they lower the health of bosses.         • All games have bugs - Destiny releases new content around every 4 months. There are bound to be bugs and rebalancing. I think their RESPONSE TIME should be faster, but this list is quite opinionated. For example, "no leashes"; I like that effect. I cheesed Crota a couple times, but ultimately it was always faster to just do it legit. At the same time, it's fun to figure out how to cheese! I too am a beta player with the same play time as you between my X1 and PS4 characters. But I find your list a little irrelevant. It doesn't matter if these things pop-up. As far as "cheaters" in PvP, I don't believe I have ever encountered one player who I can legit say I knew was lag-switching or spoofing the servers. I bet 99% of all times people say someone is cheating, it's just a better player. I used to play with a clan in Halo that had one guy say that someone was cheating EVERY game. Just obnoxious. But I digress... But like your list, it's just opinion. Bugs happen.

          • Hey I don't know if you realize this but gamers will ALWAYS find exploits to make an encounter faster no matter how well designed the game is. In some case it's to actually make it harder for the player or to show the maker there is more then one way and in those case it's friendly and welcomed for example dark souls it's filled with different exploits used by speed runners to make it fast and keep it interesting. But a game like destiny is just asking for people to exploit or slap the makes in their face and point out there flaws. This is because destiny forces you to play by bungie's rules. By making one weapon type crap and one good for everything, destiny lacks a spirit of free will and I think bungie needs to go take notes from other games of they truly want to create a fps-"mmo". It's not the players fault for exploiting the game it's bungies fault for giving us a game with so many holes and telling us where to step and what gun to use.

                      Agree with it for the most part. Glitches in things like raids and strikes will always be an issue. Especially with new mechanics being put into place. That doesn't however excuse how long it took for them to fix certain encounters. That I'll agree with you on. Everything else is 100% agreeable
