Destiny: The Taken King - Disc vs Digital (Why isn't the Legendary Edition offered digitally?)
Hello,
The upcoming Taken King expansion has made me decide that it's time for me to jump into Destiny, but I'm a bit confused with how they've chosen to price and bundle their content, especially as someone who's gone all digital this generation. I have only played the free trail of Destiny, and not purchased any content yet. According to https://www.destinythegame.com/taken-king/wheretobuy:
Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition (disk based offer only). Includes Destiny, both expansions, and TTK - $60
Destiny: The Taken King Collectors Edition (disk or Digital offers). Includes same stuff as LE, but with added content for the collectors edition - $80
The Taken King - Download only. Just the TTK expansion. $40.
Destiny Digital Guardian Edition (XB1 digital store) includes Destiny plus both expansions - $60. Same price as the TTK LE on disk, but does not include TTK.
My question comes down to, why isn't Destiny: the Taken King Legendary Edition available digitally? Right now, as someone fresh to the game, if I want to jump in I can pay $60 for the TTK LE which includes the disk version of Destiny, or the cheapest all digital route is the Collectors Edition for $80. I have no desire to own the game (or any game) physically, and am finding it hard to justify $20 extra for the digital version (I know the CE has some extra content - I have no interest in that).
I tweeted Destiny, Bungie, Activision; they pointed me to this site. I also checked out this help article https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/13072, which did not answer my question
Thanks.
