Also plenty of people care, girl gamers are constantly chased after /bothered on online video games, especially one that features voice communication like destiny. Some girls hide away from this and some try to attract it, but nonetheless being a girl versus a guy does completely change the way the general gaming population perceives you.

But what necessitated making a thread saying "I'm a girl gamer, AMA", if not for attention? The reason everyone dislikes girl gamers is because of the ones who feel the undying need to vomit out "I'M A GIRL AND I PLAY GAMES" every chance they get. They wouldn't get hate if they just played and weren't so keen on sharing gender like the majority of males. Have you ever seen a guy gamer genuinely say "I'm a guy and I play video games, look at how special I am."?

I definitely agree with you that it's completely an attention grab. Maybe he/she is bored, I just think it's interesting it garners so much attention.
