People keep asking the question as though it is powerful or thought provoking.
The answer is simple. Yes.
If we like a certain legendary, it resonates with us, it feels right to us, and we've made it our own, as a part of our guardian, as a part of our character, and as a part of our destiny, why would we want to abandon that?
Guns come and go, sure, but the ones we really like stick around just as much as the ones that do the work. How many of you still carry a Stranger's Rifle for keepsake? How about your old Khvostov? Bet that little beaut still has a home in quite a few of your vaults, despite how little use it may see?
The point is, Destiny is just as much a role playing game as it is a shooter. In role playing games, you play roles, to play roles, you invest in your character and immerse yourself in their lifestyle and world environment.
It's really hard to play a role, if your character's tried and true, sweat and steel, big 'ol hip iron, is gonna be rendered effectively useless to the point of being forced to utilize new weaponry.
It's understandable if our gear is gonna be put on the shelf for a while, we get that, there's new toys to try and you want us to enjoy the fruits of your labor rather than shun it away in favor of our precious blasters, but you have to realize at some point down the road, we're gonna want to nostalgia, we're gonna wanna meet back up with old friends, and those dusty guns in our vaults are gonna want to breath fresh fire, hot with velocity, once more into the skulls of enemies not keen to take them.
And when that times comes, we should hope the options are in place for us to rekindle the light in our boomsticks, and make some noise with them once more, rather than leave them on the shelves to be reminders of what we've lost.
Edit: Since so many seem to be assuming I'm just another Fate Bringer fanboy giving out free tears, let me just put that to rest and say I don't even have a Fatebringer, nor do I want one, nor do I even use or like Handcannons.
If it must be stated, my personal favorite treasured weapon I wish I could bring with me to year 2 and have it maintain it's stats, is just Jolder's Hammer. Nothing super special, nothing from a raid, nothing OP. Just my trusty ol' warhorse, Jolder's Hammer.
Edit 2: Lot of people chiming in to say 'no' or 'I disagree' or 'No we don't'. And that's fine. We're trending though. So for all your claims that I am alone in my plight, just count. On your fingers if you must. This is not some drop in the bucket minority whining about a petty concern. This is the culmination of a year's worth of work and effort being reduced to dust. And we aren't happy about it.
Edit 3: Thank you so much for the support, replies, and overall solidarity in standing with me on this issue. We may not see the results we are after, we may not even change anyone's minds, but if nothing else, we will be heard.

All that's changing is end game content (New strikes/IB/ToO/Kings End) will require end game items to complete in the quickest time / easiest manner / most effective way. Is that such a bad thing? Also consider, in 2.0 weapon changes, they specifically single out and plan to 'nerf' black hammer. Why make this change if the gun is going to become useless when TTK drops? Whilst not a direct assumption, this decision leads me to assume that the y1 weapons won't become totally obsolete on TTK launch.

작성자: HeartStrong07 8/6/2015 9:34:29 AMI get this ... My Three Little Words pulse rifle is so me, I tested and tried so many pulse rifles and tried to replace it so many times, to only come back to it ... While I am excited about new weapons, I don't understand why you can't keep and upgrade what you enjoy and integrate select new weapons that you like I think it comes down to Bungie has not figured out the vault space issue and it is easier for them to nerf old weapons than create new weapons you value more than your old weapons

1 답변Lol, if you've ever played a full scale mmorpg you would know that weapons become obsolete all the time. Every expansion they come in with a new level cap, new end game content and new weapons. You delete most of your old stuff, keep a few of your favorites as trophies, and move on.

6 답변작성자: Vinc3Charming 8/6/2015 8:46:30 AMIn RPGs your weapons can become underpowered in s matter of minutes. In mmorpgs that last long enough the gear becomes outdated every few months, keeping things fresh. The whole RPG thing is about going into new dungeons, grabbing new gear that is sometimes good enough to help you clear similar levelled content but is mostly trash and to get xp to level up, to go into higher level dungeons to get more gear and xp and on it goes. You wrote a lot about role playing but appear to have no conception of how RPGs have worked whatsoever. In Skyrim, Dragon Age, Borderlands etc you just drop/sell all the weaker shit as soon as higher level stuff turns up. WoW leaves it's endgame gear behind all the time and that's probably the most successful mmorpg of all time, why wouldn't Bungie follow that model? I wish people would stop whining and play the game for fun or not at all.

Well let's look at it this way, bungie have noticed that all variants of hand cannons from end game activitys have not dethroned the fatebringer and that just makes it so no one wants to use any other legendary hand cannon which is wrong in my opinion, these guns will sit in our vaults and we can look back at the good ol days in a few years and remember the times we had with these guns and how good they were. Hand cannon variants incase someone try's to argue with me: Fatebringer (VoG) Word Of Crota (Crota's End) Timmurs Lash (Iron Banner) Her Mercy (Prison Of Elders) ??? (Varriks Weapon) Jewl of Osiris (Trials of Osiris)

Nah I really don't care. If they can be us3d to combine with the new guns to make them better, as has been suggested, then I think the spirit of those old guns can live on. It would be cool to have an overlay mechanic that allows us to see which guns have become part of that new gun, but that is wishful thinking. But if I find a cool new HC and put fatebringer and TDYK into it, then that makes that new gun more meaningful.
