I heard yesterday that the Etheric Light upgrades will stop with The Taken King, and the current 365 weapons will not be upgradeable with the next frontier. Twas also said that it Exotics would'nt be upgradeable either (but that's gotta be horseshit, right?)
So what's up? They'll actually cap at 365 and the new guns/gear will set the next level? Personally I think that the Etheric Light thing's been the smartest in-game added feat to date. Now, we're building individual setups really..

3 답변That's how it works in WoW expansions. The most epic raid gear from the current expansion gets replaced by quest reward blues in the new expansion. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if there is some middle ground in destiny. Like maybe 365 weapons can be upgraded to 400 attack or so. But will still be replaced by 500 attack end game stuff. Curious to see how it works! The bottom line is they want people to be excited about the new gear.

4 답변I want to see legendaries left behind it's time its been time theres a reason no one is using HOW weapons, that being said it would be extremely -blam!-ing stupid to leave exotics behind and these already have the drawback of only being able to equip one at once. Plus these are supposed to be the hardest weapons to get in the game it would be a huge middle finger to everyone that earned these to say they won't be elite any more.

3 답변I hope the etheric light part is true. All games that you level up in leave behind the old gear. I'm honestly surprised that they let us upgrade vanilla gear in the first place. Exotics though, should be able to be upgraded. I seriously doubt that they will bring out enough new exotics with ttk to warrant making all our old ones obsolete.

5 답변작성자: pinkpanda 7/22/2015 1:48:59 PMExotics will be upgrade able without a doubt. And the nerf to black hammer makes me wonder...why bother nerfing it if 365 weapons won't be upgradeable in TK? They want to nerf it for a month? Hmmm I think maybe legendary weapons will be able to be upgraded in some way

1 답변I think the legendaries wont be upgradable, but the exotics will. Why would they nerf all those exotics if they will become useless? I would love it if they do it this way, finally some new guns to shoot with instead of allways going for fatebringer.
-
I dont think that will happen Here's why.... The entirety of year one destiny would be obsolete, why would they then package it with the taken King? Makes no sense to me. Yes, they are basically giving it away, but still no one would grind that for items that are useless.

Why would anyone really play the taken kind if you could just upgrade a few guns and be done. I'm most mmo rpgs you leave your gear behind... I don't see what's wrong with that, it will just make you want that new fatebringer or black hammer.
-
They won't make it so that no exotics are upgradable. It would ruin variety. Legendary weapons are easy to come up with, but the can't replace all of the exotics. Plus, why would they balance these things for PvE if they would still be useless?
-
I think it might be just the opposite, because they are balancing exotics. That alone means you will probably be able to upgrade the damage on them. I also think it's more than likely that all year one weapons, even rares, will be able to get damage upgrades in the future.
-
It's about time. I will miss a lot of legendaries but we also should be trying out new weapons. Bad or good we shouldn't keep holding on to weapons that are a year old. Now exotics should stay with us. But we shall see.
-
There's no way they will drop exotics. A dead give away is them showing someone getting gally in the taken king. If they were gunna outsource old exotics they wouldnt advertise being able to get them. And I believe legendarys need to go. I want to have to hunt guns down again. Not just keep bringing the best guns made with me. It's really stale

to me it looks like they are getting rid of attack values and just implementing light levels which brings me to believe light level advantages will need to be thrown out the window as well which is ok in my book

작성자: Anedime 7/22/2015 11:59:48 PMI wanna start off this post by just saying I've only discussed this with my friends and this is JUST an opinion, so whether you agree with it or not, don't go telling people this is what's gonna happen because, again, this is just an opinion. My thought has been that, if bungie is truly transitioning from Attack to Light value (That is to say if the E3 build being light values is actual mechanics change and not just a placeholder) it could be possible bungie wants a certain degree of futureproofing on weapons, that being said I think current weapons will be like rare armor you get from strikes now, they won't necessarily be viable in the endgame aspect on the game but will retain a degree of useability in "casual" like missions and strikes. There's also the possibility of current weapons just being downgraded to "low level" content, that is the new legendaries that come with the taken king requiring base level of 30 to equip while current items being level 20.
-
With nothing being said about ttk weapons, with the base level and light levels being raised in ttk, and along with the fact that they won't add more vault space, I can see them making pretty much all year one gear obsolete. Wouldn't surprise me if they made us grind for all new gear so we'd have to clear out the vault making the entire grind since HoW getting and rerolling weapons useless when ttk comes out.

I think part of this game is getting you hooked so that you feel you can justify the time spent grinding/playing it. If TTK was a fresh start i'm sure many people would see that as an opportunity to cash out and go commit to another game, I can't see Activision allowing that. If they put the next etheric light drop at the end of the raid, which might be a level 50 raid (just guessing as it's supposed to be a soft cap at 30 and we can increase by 14 using light as it is) Your not going to get very far in the campaign with 365 weapons, so you'll have to use the new ones, especially if the new etheric light is a rare drop on the raid. Who knows the taken might get new shields which require dedicated burn weapons, that would put your year 1 weapons to a considerable handicap.
