I remember my first nightfall, 3 of us tried and failed so many times. It was week 1, Sepiks arc burn. We stood huddled in a Titan bubble, outgunned and under-levelled, and only two of us had arc weapons. After hours and several attempts, we gave up.
****
1,000 hours later I walk up to Sepiks, wearing ancient Vault of Glass armour plundered from time itself and holding my Black Hammer, a LEGENDARY sniper rifle plucked from the bones of a slain God and infused with etheric light from the depths of the Awoken Queen's treasure hoard in reward for slaying the treacherous Kel of Kels, Skolas. Now I am the boss, now I am the powerful one. I ignore the pitiful minions and hammer away at Sepiks, I line my shots up with practiced precision - this time there is no bubble, this time there is no hiding, only the sound of my hammer rhythmically cracking away at the once powerful servitor like a rusty nail. Within minutes he is dead. I occasionally think back to that time when we couldn't beat him and remember just how far I've come.
Investment ...
The feeling of being powerful and rewarded is central and critical to video games. God forbid I defeat a god with his own sword and get rewarded with some awesome tool and use it to be more powerful. God forbid I become legend.
2.0 is troubling because it changes the nature of gear we have spent a very long time with, gear we spent a long time trying to get (it took nearly 100 tries for my Black Hammer), gear we upgraded and then upgraded again with etheric light (some exotics had to be levelled twice!), gear we've gotten attached to over the course of hundreds of battles. So this 2.0 feels very deflating, it goes against the feeling of growth and investment. It makes me less excited about getting new gear because it could get fundamentally changed. It makes me less attached to gear I already cherish - what if Bungie decides Fatebringer's firefly is just too powerful for a hand cannon?
Bungie, you wanted our guns to tell a story. Well, that's my story. I worked hard to get that gun and it's very special to my guardian. Please don't end that story with "and then one day my incredible sniper was suddenly really ineffective so I didn't really bother using it anymore."

Shit like this is gonna happen. Until they learn what works and what doesn't you might have to deal with a few nerfs. So you don't get unlimited ammo on a broken legendary, WHO CARES. Grow up. Been playing since beta and this is the absolute worst I've ever seen these forums. Like a bunch of babies that need some milk.

2 답변The issue with 2.0 is trust....we don't trust that bungie is capable of tuning the game and balance. They are adding layers and repetitive play to an already tied and depleted forum....good luck keeping up with these idiots

1 답변You are not allowed to be more powerful for taking the time to beat the hardest content available then a guy who buys vendor weapons. Sorry

I would agree a game needs to feel rewarding. But in order to keep it feeling that way they need to make rewards that are still good, so when people continue to use the same guns they have to make better ones. But to keep things from getting too OP they lessen how good old guns are before making the new ones, which are good, but not OP.

You hit the (white)nail on the head. People can argue about weapon balance all they want, which maybe needs to happen, as a whole to the archetypes. But deflating specific weapons is just a means to devalue them so newer ones are more attractive. It reeks of laziness.

1 답변Out with the old in with the new imo. Like someone said I don't want gally to be the answer to all content for this games duration and I own a gally. I will miss both ice breaker and the baller horn but I understand why.

1 답변This is probably the best counter argument against the weapon balancing. It's a perspective that needs to be considered. I remember my first strikes, and how poorly I did with blues and under leveled legendary weapons. Being able to use the tools you win is pretty important. Being able to feel like a boss is a valuable part of investment games. At the same time, stun locking bosses, gally burns, and "sandwich sniping" are issues. I think adding some boss buffs might be in order. Stun immunity after initial stun, damage phases, forced movement phases. I am glad that the game is evolving and that Bungie does listen. Hopefully we will be allowed to really feel like a legend. Thank you for your articulate and we'll written post! It made me feel!

2 답변It is not a nerf on investment. Before this patch everyone was focused on getting gally for PVE and handcannons for pvp. That's only a few weapons that people set there minds on. Now people will be more motivated to go get other guns and try out new tactics.

3 답변I agree a little bit. Unfortunately, Black Hammer & Gjallarhorn were 'Too Good'. So much so they were the only viable option for PvP 90% of the time.
