I remember my first nightfall, 3 of us tried and failed so many times. It was week 1, Sepiks arc burn. We stood huddled in a Titan bubble, outgunned and under-levelled, and only two of us had arc weapons. After hours and several attempts, we gave up.
****
1,000 hours later I walk up to Sepiks, wearing ancient Vault of Glass armour plundered from time itself and holding my Black Hammer, a LEGENDARY sniper rifle plucked from the bones of a slain God and infused with etheric light from the depths of the Awoken Queen's treasure hoard in reward for slaying the treacherous Kel of Kels, Skolas. Now I am the boss, now I am the powerful one. I ignore the pitiful minions and hammer away at Sepiks, I line my shots up with practiced precision - this time there is no bubble, this time there is no hiding, only the sound of my hammer rhythmically cracking away at the once powerful servitor like a rusty nail. Within minutes he is dead. I occasionally think back to that time when we couldn't beat him and remember just how far I've come.
Investment ...
The feeling of being powerful and rewarded is central and critical to video games. God forbid I defeat a god with his own sword and get rewarded with some awesome tool and use it to be more powerful. God forbid I become legend.
2.0 is troubling because it changes the nature of gear we have spent a very long time with, gear we spent a long time trying to get (it took nearly 100 tries for my Black Hammer), gear we upgraded and then upgraded again with etheric light (some exotics had to be levelled twice!), gear we've gotten attached to over the course of hundreds of battles. So this 2.0 feels very deflating, it goes against the feeling of growth and investment. It makes me less excited about getting new gear because it could get fundamentally changed. It makes me less attached to gear I already cherish - what if Bungie decides Fatebringer's firefly is just too powerful for a hand cannon?
Bungie, you wanted our guns to tell a story. Well, that's my story. I worked hard to get that gun and it's very special to my guardian. Please don't end that story with "and then one day my incredible sniper was suddenly really ineffective so I didn't really bother using it anymore."

THIS!!!!!! Recently DEEJ spoke out against us having the same weapons for a long time. Well Bungie instead of destroying our old weapons how about you MAKE BETTER ONES so people will choose whether they want to exchange their old ones. Instead they will nerf our old weapons over and over so TTK weapons seem better.

5 답변I actually shivered a little at your words. I'm but 5 grimoire off max and I'm sat here looking at all my gear, realizing the story they tell will no longer be "This is what I did, I use this because I am proud of the effort it took to earn this and because the gifts it offers me are what I strived for." to "This is what I did, but that's irrelevant now, because space monkeys decided that PVE should have no clear choices so that nothing has any lustre any more." My legend is not a legend, but a fairy tale of times past. My guns were for nothing but an old story to be passed down to people that wield several guns with different names but the same stats... I am not legend. I am a wallet.
2.0 is troubling because it changes the nature of gear we have spent a very long time with
Three things here: - firstly this patch is predominately based on community feedback or developer observations, ideally this balancing act should happen more frequently to require less housework - Except Ice Breaker these changes won't change much about how these weapons work or behave much. - We should wait for the patch to arrive to evaluate their results with hands on time.

6 답변People are treating it like black hammer is useless now... You still get 21 shots no reload, pretty good to me

I agree , I have waited a long time and I finally got hawk moon yesterday and was so excited but then my thoughts were like "crap , I got it just it time for it to be nerfed" kind of lessened it a bit , would be the same if Gallagher drops now too (though I would still be super excited )

The solution to destiny and to this issue is for it to be similar to World of Warcraft, where there are hundred of thousands of weapons and gear to earn, so it doesn't really matter when something like patch 2.0 happens.

Well put and is exactly why I have left the game. Bungie can win me back if it is worth it to them to gain players like me back. If they have "enough" players without me and Guardians that share my thoughts then I will go my seperate ways from Bungie and any future Activision published game. Hopefully not I want to buy TTK and the extras but I don't think Bungie will care or at least reconsider before the DLC drops.

I don't really care that they nerfed Thorn. Making small changes to make sure many weapons are viable in PVP is okay in my book. The Icebreaker, Black Hammer, hand cannon, and ghorn nerf was stupid. Making auto rifles a little more viable is good. Trying to make the Necrocasm, Hard Light, and Monte Carlo a little more worthwhile is a good thing. I'm planning on playing other games now. I've spent too much time on this game.
