This will be a somewhat long post, but I'll keep it concise to the best of my abilities.
A while ago, when Deej was giving a excuse in regards to not expanding vault space, he said something along the lines of "we don't want you to be hoarders" (I can't remember the exact quote). At the time, I figured it was just a general excuse for a basic, needed change to be made. In light of the recent weapon rebalancing news, I came to a realization.
The reason we are not supposed to be hoarding is because Bungie wants us to stop using the same weapons over and over, but rather get the new weapons introduced in the dlc's and use those instead. This inevitably would force us to make decisions between old and new when choosing what to vault for a later time.
But as we have seen, the new guns are quite lackluster, and there is no big reason to use them over our old guns. This obviously can cause people to be less inclined to purchase DLC, because they enjoy the content currently available to them, and see no reason to purchase it unless they notice things that must be had.
Many of us would agree that The Dark Below was quite underwhelming to say the least. I saw no point in buying it, but then I began to notice the Black Hammer and it's usefulness. I had believed that the guns that I already owned were good enough, but I knew the BH was a must-have, so I went ahead and bought TDB.
In terms of PvE, you obviously want the best primary, secondary, and heavy weapons possible. After TDB, the top-tier looked something about like this:
Primary:
Fatebringer, VoC, WoC
Secondary:
Icebreaker, Black Hammer, any shotgun with a good roll
Heavy:
Gally
After How dropped, it's safe to say that the top-tier looks exactly the same. In regards to weapons, why buy this DLC if the guns available are better?
Bungie could make guns that perform better than these top-tier weapons, but then they would obviously increase the speed at which we could get through strikes, raids, and nightfalls. This would increase the speed at which we would gets chances for drops and potentially get bored of the content and play other games.
Because of this, buffing incoming DLC weapons is not practical. So how would we be motivated to spend our money and get the new guns? Nerf the top-tier weapons so that the incoming weapons will appear to perform on an equal or higher level.
The statements in regards to people not finding raid groups without G-horn, players camping with Icebreaker (when did anyone complain about this), these are just smokescreens to hide the truth:
They are nerfing the top-tier weapons to increase DLC sales.
It is nearly impossible to improve upon a loadout of Fatebringer, Black Hammer/Icebreaker, and Gally. It is the go-to loadout for countless Guardians.
Why would we see the need to change this loadout? Because if there are better options, we will use them.
We are much more likely to "throw money at the screen" if the DLC has weapons that rival those in the top-tier. The Gally might not be too special compared to some incoming weapons, the ammo regeneration for Icebreaker will nearly be doubled, and the Black Hammer will now become a solar sniper with terrible perks (mulligan is a waste).
I would not be surprised at this point if something were to happen to the Fatebringer, as it is far and away the best option for a PvE primary.
When the patch hits and most of the top PvE guns are nerfed, those new guns in The Taken King might just seem a bit more appealing.
This looks like a trend that will continue for the 9 remaining years of the game, so soon the out-of-nowhere nerfs won't be surprising at all.
$$$: this is why the Gally is getting nerfed
Note:
BungieVision is probably going to get my money for TTK, but it'll only be because Halo 5 and Black Ops 3 don't come out until a while after the DLC drop date. Unless the shady nerfs stop and they stop punishing loyalty (paying double for everything a noobie can get in September), they can kiss goodbye to what would have been an additional 9 years of my money.
Edit: Why not? Lol. https://petitions.whitehouse.gov//petition/stop-bungie-nerfing-gjallerhorn-destiny

2 답변If they want us to use the new weapons then they have to rival or be better then the old. Its common sense. But give it time. After ttk we will be able to buff our old weapons again

it's simple stop letting us ascend weapons - legendary and Exotic let Xur sell elemental upgrades - so we can put or swap element on whatever weapon we want also stop making perks "raid weapon exclusive" how many people tried to replicate Fatebrinfer? VoC? Foil? allow perks to be truly random letting us re-roll weapons was a LEAP in the right direction, take it a step further

2 답변In line with this, I wager the testers found that the best way to beat the new content was... Black Hammer and Gally. 'How do we make the new content more of a challenge?' Option a) Actually change the dynamics of the game and make the challenge something to conquer. Option b) Leave the game and nerf the tool kit. It's lazy game design. Some nerfs were needed but the balancing, well it needs balancing.

I think this is more of that combined with the forced grind to make people continue to play. There have been issues in the past which causes us to distrust their words and actions but they have addressed this with cozmo's arrival. They are a business, they exist solely to make money. They do this by providing something the consumer wants. We are all buying ttk so it's working for them which is good for us cause we want this franchise to last the 10 years so that we can continue to be entertained by it. It's a fine line they have to walk and they will sometimes stumble along the way but they know it's in their best interest to keep us happy. They are also hampered by Activision's requirements of them. This is business that's how these things work. They are listening they know we are pissed, and I believe ttk will make us all happy again. If not who will buy destiny 2? They burned us twice already they know ttk has to deliver.

1 답변I think the motives behind most of what bungie does is just increasing play time. Prolong the grind and people will play the game longer.

2 답변I don't see a problem with Bungie nerfing old weapons. As a company this is a sound business practice to increase sales. As long as a new exotic hand cannon that looks badass comes out I'll be happy. That being said, if no new exotic hand cannons arrive, or they don't look as cool as TLW or Hawkmoon, I'll leave destiny. Gotta finish the Witcher 3 sometime soon

3 답변Did the Xbox players just get screwed with the held back exclusive exotic content for Sept. Just asking

5 답변Then why the hell don't they make better weapons instead of nerfing the old ones. That's just dumb and stupid on bungies part. Also this nerf is the worst mistake bungie has ever made
-
1 답변The only reason people still use the old weapons is because bungie have been too -blam!-ing lazy to be bothered actually introducing weapons that are worthy replacements. This just feels like bungies way of forcing you to use shitty weapons, by making the great weapons even shittier
-
I really don't understand the point here bungie every time there is a gun that shines in a specific area of the game you nerf it to nothing so is the point to have us all go around shooting peas at each other in the crucible or do no damage to those bullet sponge bosses (who use no new tactics btw they are just bigger versions of the enemy that can take crazy damage) people work hard for there's guns some of the things you have to do to get these guns that are so "over powered" as the crucible noobs say are very hard to complete so people earn these guns no one is gonna wanna play destiny is once they earn a weapon it becomes nerfed and they need to completed another task of endless grinding and pay you another 20 dollars for a dlc every few months

1 답변I don't know about you but I don't buy DLC for new weapons. So I don't agree with your post. I buy DLC to experience the new content. Not just because they made some new weapons. I can see where you are going but I disagree.

1 답변HOW weapons are shitty...TTK weapons are to be determined, but not going to hold my breath.

7 답변Theyve been doing this "hey were bungie and your friend" and then screwing us over thing for a long time now. People say that these are buisnesses and they shouldnt appease fans, however thats a 2 way steet ever heard of brand loyalty.

Great post. Along this lines, I suggest Bungie make stronger weapons to coincide with new content. If I want to buy new content (and I would. That's the point) I work for the stronger weapons. As long as I have new content, I would care about using new OP weapons in out content. If I do, that's my fault for making the game boring. Bungie wouldn't have to worry about me quitting because the new stuff would keep me in the game and lying more money. That's fine.

I give full credit to your post, and I completely and utterly agree with you on that matter. Another thing I want to bring up is this: When watching the E3 videos of the PvP Rift gamemode, did anyone else get a very strong sense that it looked and kinda felt like like a CoD MW3? I mean, "feel" is such a subjective thing, and when I played vanilla Destiny last year, I could definitely feel how the shooting and gunplay reminded me of Halo 1-2-3. When I watch the Rift videos, I get the gunplay "feeling" of MW3. The speed, the twitch shooting and time to kill? Does anyone else get this same impression? The "feel" of it? Is this the direction that Destiny is going? Down the CoD path?

1 답변This. I haven't played much since HOW dropped. Now with Xur not selling a weapon I have no reason to come back. I'll keep checking Friday's to see what's up but if nothing good ?? Peace
