There are also exos and awoken, but that's besides the point. The only thing that opposes the light is the darkness. When the light is suppressed then the guardians can die. Even then in most situations the guardians just revive.

If ghosts can teleport anywhere why does one need to hitch a ride to Mars? And given that a ghost is using the light to restore you if you kill the guardian it probably uses a little of that light. And as far as we know the ghosts need to be at close proximity to revive the guardian. So if that ghost is forcibly removed he can't revive his guardian.

The first cabal ghost fragment is the catalog of a ghost traveling to Mars in search of a guardian. And they could just grab it, or use a gravity hammer in the same way that Tartarus does. The hive captured that Titans ghost on the moon, some acolyte or knight probably just snatched it up before it could do anything.

Besides no matter how many times the guardian comes back the Spartan is going to just keep killing them.

1 How would they get there if they couldn't, especially without a guardian. 2. We have been shown ghosts teleporting in numerous cut scenes and when you pull up your ghost. 3. Warlocks can melt people and tear apart reality.

1. There is a grimoire card that specifically says that a ghost hitched a ride on a scout ship to mars, and he did so to find a guardian amongst Mars' dead. Game mechanics don't necessarily equal accurate lore, when your foot touches the ammo on the ground it magically appears in your inventory, and when you switch weapons they literally transform into your hands. Hungry Grunt already tore that apart, but even still it won't stop a .50 from tearing through you're skull or a load of buckshot disemboweling you.
