Why do people donate to streamers?
Find it really odd, give to a charity instead!
People moan about game prices/dlc and yep they're fine with donating money to someone who will forgot you in an Instant.
Streamers are expecting donations now because of this.
You think they'll remember who you are when you donate?
They're sponging off people to earn a living.
If anyone has actually donated before please share as to why and how much!
****please stop comparing it with real sports****
I bet the majority of people who donate wouldn't give to the homeless either.

Most homeless people that bum around my part of the city are agressive, I'll never give them my hard earned dollar. Now, someone that made me smile, someone that made me feel good about myself, I'll give them my hard earned dollar.

The few streamers I watch do remember your name if you donate several times. Which most people do. Some people make it a game by over-donating each other. But the basic idea behind it is simply support. You can watch their content for free, if you like it you can donate. The ones I watch don't make a big deal about it if you don't, simply viewing them already gives them support. That's all. It's just supporting them. Some streamers have a 20 buck minimum. Those are the bad kinds. The times the ones I watch give a minimum is during charity streams. Which makes sense.

Its entertainment. Why do people support radio stations? Its because they want them to stick around. Now I think streaming FPS games is kinda meh but I can easily see why people want to support the larger streamers. Its cheaper than cable. Oh and some channels require a monthly subscription to comment in chat, get emotes, and get a unique little picture by your name. so there is that.

6 답변작성자: Pixel Crisis 7/14/2015 2:04:18 PMAll of you people that have problems with this are probably poor tippers to (servers / bartenders / valets / etc), clip coupons (I do too sometimes ... them groupons yo! lol), and shop at the dent store for everything ... if you have a problem tipping someone a few dollars for hours of entertainment - you are a cheap ass or just don't have a lot of money and seem salty. Or maybe it's jealousy? I can't figure it out yet...do you hate your job and aren't really happy in your life? Maybe this is why so many take issue with this? They're doing what you can't? FYI - Most barely make more than a McDonalds employee ... only a few make worthwhile (50K+) money that they can live on and even fewer are getting rich. So take some solace in that so maybe you're not so angry with your 9-5. And really ... Who cares what others are doing if they're not hurting anyone?

I don't watch destiny streamers because I play it and I'm good at it. I do watch streamers play pc games that look fun because I don't have a pc good enough to be playing them. I also only watch streamers who are fun to watch, like to have a laugh and are entertaining. When it's a game that looks really fun I would rather watch it than TV (which millions and millions of people pay for). You are in no way obligated to pay money to them, you don't even have to chat... Doesn't mean you can't or that it's a waste if you do. You are being entertained and you want to keep being entertained (usually 5+ days a week for 6+ hours) so they certainly earn their donations. Just because you don't find it entertaining doesn't mean nobody does. Some people will watch a golf tournament and I couldn't think of anything more boring... Plus you're all addressing destiny streamers... Destiny is barely in the top 10 for a game being streamed and not a place to judge twitch by. Watch the streamers that entertain 10k+ viewers (up too like 40-50k) every time they play a game. Don't tell me those viewers aren't being entertained...

2 답변Do you pay for cable? Direct TV? It's the same People who donate to streams dont care about messages from the famous guy, they just wanna help support something that they find entertaining. Like paying for any service. Good streamers work really hard and their job can be brutal. So its just a way to show appreciation

Same thing here ... content producer provides their viewers hours of entertainment ... so people appreciate it and throw a few to a lot of dollars at them. I personally don't subscribe or donate to streamers (though I do watch them from time to time at lunch and wouldn't be against tipping one). Look at it like this, a pack of cigs is $5+ or a Coke @ the store is $1+ ... so throwing someone that gives you hours of entertainment a few bucks isn't and shouldn't be a big deal.

Am with u, don't get people who watch streamers ... Mebby coz am old ... I dunno but while u are watching the streamer u could just as well be playing the game yourself ? And as for people who donate, well I am in no position to tell people how to spend there money, so go nuts ! waste you or your parents hard earned cash ... On some who is doing what u could be doing yourself :)

I can relate to why people would watch streamers if they were going to learn something about a game or are checking out a game to see if they like it. However watching the same streamer everyday doing the same thing? Why? Don't get me wrong the streamers are all good at acting like they care about the destiny community. Would they care so much if they earned nothing of course not. Also people comparing sports, movies, tv shows etc to streamers get a grip.

I would compare it to paid entertainment but you aren't forced to pay. It's done more as a sign of respect for the content they provide.
