Edit 3: Okay putting this at the top of the post since people can't read edits. (Not trying to be an ass)
I never said that low grimoire makes you ab underachiever. And having a high one doesn't make you the best in the world.
All i'm saying is that, with the way Destiny is structured right now, grimoire score serves as an experience gauge. Which I feel was it's original purpose. Not necessarily skill, but more often than now, people who play a game more tend to play better.
Of course if you have low grimoire that doesn't mean you're a new player, but time is not always equal to experience.
Ghosts are only around 550 points, so you can't say the grimoire is all ghosts.
I have friends who have low grimoire, but I don't go around calling them inexperienced scrubs even though they've played with me since launch.
But lets say I go on lfg. I don't know you, and I don't know how you play. You could lie about any achievements you have made in the game. But 1 thing doesn't Lie: Grimoire score.
So if someone uses grimoire as a filter, don't automatically assume them an elitist, just as you wouldn't want people to assume anyone with low grimoire is a scrub.
I really didn't think this post would pffend anyone, but if it did, I apologize.

You're wrong. This might have been the case before HoW. But now, with it so easy to hit 30, grimoire is the easiest way to asses someones experience without looking them up on DTR.
Yesterday I was grinding Dragon (for that elusive Hopscoth Pilgrim) and 1 of my teamates was a lvl 32 with 1700 grimoire.
HE WAS USING A GREEN MG.
With it so easy to hit higher levels in HoW, grimoire is the easiest way to see how experienced someone is. I personally don't use more extreme scores like 3200+, but if you're below 2800 and you can't tell me personally how you can be a benefit, chances are I won't play with you.
It ain't personal.
this is usually for more hard activities like POE or ToO
Edit: I misused the word skill. I meant experience. You can raise your grimoire without ghost hunting. I have all the dead ghosts but im still around 200 short of max grimoire.
You can still do good with a low grimoire. I have a friend with below 2800 grimoire who has beaten skolas and gone flawless multiple times.
Another one of my friends litterally bought Destiny when HoW came out, and we helped him reach 33 real fast. If there was no grimoire score, you wouldn't have anyway to tell he has only been playing since HoW.
When I said it mattered, I was talking about LFG. If you're a 32 with 2100 grimoire, I know that you have low experience in the game. I'm not going to not play with people I know if they have low grimoire, but if none of my friends are online and I have to use LFG for something, chances are if I meet you on LFG, I don't know you, I don't know your play style, and any endgame you've done for all I know you were carried through. So I look to the one thing you can't hide or deny.
Grimoire.
Edit 2: Wow 400 replies. Love seeing your points of view.

2 답변Grimoire shows two things 1. Amount of time played. 2. Overall familiarity with most aspects of the game. It has very little to do with skill. The only time it shows anything related to skill is wins in the crucible but even that is exaggerated with excessive play time or better teammates. Some people exclusively do pvp others pve and if they dont touch the rest of the game or other characters they will have low grimoire. That is all it means. Unless you look them up specifically you cannot tell if they are experienced or not in an activity like raids. I have a high grimoire but i hate people who think it translates to skill when it doesnt. And it does not act as a direct indicator of experience. You could find a 1700 that has 30 raid completions and all bosses on PoE, does this mean he is unworthy of playing? Hell no. He probably has never touched crucible, found ghosts, sticks with one character, or all of the above. So get off your high horse and play with them. And if on the off chance you meet someone new TEACH THEM!!! Thats how it was when VoG came out. We were all new and had no idea what was going on. I got taught, I taught others, and we all learned together. We didnt stop others from participating based off of grimoire.

7 답변Grimoire does NOT matter no matter how much you people want it to. It shows nothing more than time played and how much DLC you own (or don't own). The simple fact that plenty of shitty players have high grimoire scores and plenty of good players don't proves as much.

28 답변작성자: WzrdFog 7/13/2015 9:43:22 PMYeah, my Grimiore is 2700. I've 3 manned the Vault on hard, 3 manned Crota on hard, Solo'd the Nightfall multiple times, don't judge by the Score.
For anyone wondering how I 3-manned vault, we did everything up to Atheon as normal, then at the boss I fall off the edge, wait for the other two to teleport, then self revive, I kill as few Harpies as possible, when the other two exit, Defender puts up bubble and holds relic, I DPS the Boss, Gunslinger kills most Harpies, creating orbs, rinse and repeat till dead.
Edit: I guess people didn't see the point of my post. Sucks how close-minded people can be.

2 답변So basically if you're not a Nerd, living your parents basement, 12-18 with no parental supervision, or 12-35 with no responsibility he will not play with you. Sad.

3 답변Grimoire doesn't mean a damn thing. I've been around 2700 for a long time and i have all the warlock Crota gear, all the Titan vault of glass gear, and have gone 9-0 on trials as well as have killed skolas multiple times on my hunter. I was not carried through any of it, would not go as far to say I carried my teammates through it but I definitely can hold my own. I have all three characters at level 34. Don't tell me that grimoire defines skill. That's like saying gamerscore shows how good you are at games. Some people like myself simply just don't care about it.
-
12 답변Grimoire just shows how much of an achievement hunter you are, it is by no means correlated with skill or with experience.

Grim still means nothing for you can play the entire game and do well and still not ever come close to max grim or even a high grim ever. This game does not require a lot of skill to do well in it; only fools like to think it does.

So I made the switch from XB1 to PS4, on XB1 I had 3-34's and completed all the game had to offer multiple times. My grimoire was above 3000. When I switched to PS4 I decided not to chase ghosts to raise grimoire as I feel its a waste of time......... Infact I have left ghost just lying there in an effort to keep my grimoire as low as possible. Point is your wrong, Grimoire means nothing.

5 답변작성자: Some Hostility 7/13/2015 12:14:24 PMGrimoire does not matter. The top crucible player has like 2800 grumpier or something. Sometimes people just don't care about certain things that give you grimoire, like pve players vs pvp players. Personally it's a struggle for me to get the rumble and salvage grimoire because those aren't my favorite game modes lol

1 답변Heres what ive done so far. Soloed Skolas. (When there was a burn modifier. ) Soloed Crota, soloed Atheon, solo the NF every week, solo 32 and 34 PoE every week. I dont do pvp activities anymore cause of lag and cheating in the Crucible but ive gotten my Grimoire out of it. If you can do these things I will run with you in a minute. If you cant then I wont play with you. To me thats how I judge if someone is good. Yes I use only Warlocks because I play against RNG and I dont like the other classes because theyre too easy to use. Though I may make a Titan soon cause I like to punch shit.
