Bungie day was absolutely disgraceful.
This was in no way a unique way to honor fans. Nothing done today was exclusive. You can watch that 30 minute mashup anytime... If you want to.... And that emblem?... You have until September to complete. Plus... I have the beta testing emblem and a Vanquisher from Vanilla Destiny. Nothing was special to the fans on this day.
For those not around in the Halo days, bungie used to host a playlist on halo where you got to play the developers in matchmaking, and if you won you got an exclusive armor set called recon completely unobtainable otherwise. They gave out flaming helmet pieces in halo reach permanently to players who signed in on bungie day. They gave flaming helmets to players in halo 3 on bungie day years ago. They gave us a free Halo multiplayer map before also on Bungie day.
This...? You know what I honestly think?
This... "road to triumph"...? It's an emblem. An emblem. Not only that, it's a marketing scheme. We crave what is exclusive, so everyone is going to want to get this emblem ... (which truly anyone can get) ... but to get this emblem Bungie is making you play the game the way they want you to and as long as they want you to.
It's to keep you playing until the taken king. They want you to play certain ways, and as long as they want. That's all it is.
Instead of being honored, we're just being given an emblem anyone can get for the next 3 months, if we play as much as they decide us to play, and grind the content they want us to grind. PvP. PvE. Public events. Golden chests. Whatever you don't like, you're doing it. Because bungie is giving out an emblem. And to bungie, whether you were a "year one" guardian or not, you don't deserve what they are "graciously" giving you unless you do all of what they want.
Shame. On. You. Bungie.
Edit: It's not about free stuff. It's about making memories, and honestly, I applaud the community playdates that community members are setting up. I somehow just wish Bungie had a Bungie Bounty today (they for some reason stopped that?) and played with the community much like how they did in Halo days. They also gave out these flaming helmets to get people playing on Bungie day. It encouraged the players to get online and have fun. I have my film clips playing big team battle with my buddies, speeding in a warthog with a flaming helmet, racing getting shot down by an enemy warthog chasing us with the flag carrier in the passenger seat as our team mate charges up the spartan laser, just to make the speedy getaway needed. Do you remember those days? I do. This, and the past couple... I sadly don't. Play with us Bungie.

I kind of agree with you. An emblem isn't really amazing but come on, it's a gift ! When you personally give someone a gift and they turn around and bitch at you that your gift isn't enough, what would you think about them? It is what it is. You like it or you don't. Just stop with the pissing and moaning. It makes you look bad.

I wrote this -blam!-ed up, and stressed out from work. Can we just let it die? I've learned that past Bungie Days have set high standards. It seems an emblem was nothing compared to the old days.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that you had to have bought all the dlc to this point in order to get this emblem. Due to the requirements, this wasn't an issue I faced but the few people who don't have dlc that still get on for a little while (must be boring as hell with more nothing to do than those who bought the game) just got a huge slap in the face. You could have been a day one player and unable to get the emblem because several of the steps require dlc. And to bring up that point of exclusiveness this will bring people to buy the dlc not only to complete for this emblem but also so they can get the day one rewards from TTK. This game has turned into such a money grab, but I know I'll still play it...

It's not the same company as it used to be, most of the bigger names have left. People have to stop expecting new Bungie to be old Bungie. Plus it was a good gesture. These people that want to show they're "day one" players can throw on the founders emblem for uniqueness. In fact I've got about 3 emblems you could only have gotten if you played day one or were part of the beta and alpha. These people calling for special items to distinguish themselves aren't day one players, because we already have unique items. Plus this emblem looks awesome and I literally had to do nothing to get it. Already had everything completed when it opened up.

2 답변First, thy were not obligated to give us ANYTHING. I really like the new emblem. All I need to do is find 4 chests and I will have it. I also really enjoyed the community video as well. Each to your own though. People are always going to complain. I guess you are one of those.

I'm a day one player and when they unlocked the "triumphs" page...I was already done. It's the people like me who have played the hell out of this game already that are looking for SUBSTANTIAL content drops to spark interest again...something to work towards, something to acquire.

I never played Halo, so I'm sorry I missed the golden age you described where they gave out free, superfluous stuff that you deem more valuable than the free, superfluous thing they're giving us for basically completing the game. That's in addition to the free, superfluous things they'll give you for being a year 1 player who buys the taken king expansion. I don't understand the comment about "playing the game the way they want you to play." Is it really that big of a stretch that they're asking us to finish a mix of basic and end-game content to get the emblem? If you've played since the beginning, even if you're a PvP-focused player, why wouldn't you at least finish the three main stories? If you're a somewhat serious player, wouldn't you most likely have completed all the end-game content on hard mode? Big deal. Just seems kind of silly to get worked into such a lather over small, ultimately pointless giveaways.
