Actually, this might be a huge spoiler. But at this point, this is more like wild speculation than cold hard fact. In any case, we'll find out in just a few short hours!
As some of the more old school fans may know, the people at Bungie have always been big fans of Glen Cook's awesome Chronicles of the Black Company books. Apparently, back in the day the series has been a major inspiration to the storyline of the Myth games. No official statement has ever been issued by the studio on the subject, but the influence is just painfully obvious to anyone with even half a brain. If you're curious at all, just follow the link and see for yourself:

Back to speculation.
The Black Company features a pair of monstrously powerful entities called The Dominator and The Lady. The Dominator earned his name by virtue of a single dreaded ability: The Taking. Through this infamous and unholy ritual, worthy opponents and maligned enemies would be turned into almighty obedient servants. These slaves would then serve as his generals and emissaries, a grim reminder of the fate of those who would oppose The Dominator and his Lady. They would be known as The Ten Who Were Taken.
See where this is going? Taken enemies serving a god-like entity as their King...
Remember the Heart of Crota Grimoire card? It features a Hive Wizard apparently torturing a captive Hunter by stripping away his light. They are surrounded by "a sea of cocoons" and "thousands more freshly spawned hordes" feeding off the Guardian's light and pain.
In one of the later books, select members of the Black Company are put in a dream-like transe and assist The Lady in the performing of The Taking. They have very few memories of the event, but they recall it involving demons, the victim being abused, torn appart and being put back together... several times over during a number of days.
Sound familiar?
So here goes: I think we'll be fighting what has become of the members of Eris' ill fated former fireteam. I think Oryx took them and somehow turned them into his Taken.
How cool would this be?!? Eriana-3, Toland the Shattered, Sai Mota, Omar Agah, Vell Tarlowe... all sub-bosses to put out of their misery before facing Oryx himself.
What do you think?
edit: Ahem... cleaned up the title. ;)

1 답변And I think that the Oryx fight should include a barrier/shield/containment field that traps one of our fireteam members and if not destroyed in time, would take over that guardian's body and use him/her to fight against the remaining 5 for 30 seconds (the Taken One would be SO OP that it could match the Oversoul when it comes to wipe everyone) or until we could "kill" the guardian, bringing him/her back to fight on our side. This would be AWESOME. Some scene where the guardian inside the "shield" would be fighting agaisnt the invasion and, if not destroyed, a scene where the "shield" would embrace the guardian's body and control it until we break that spell with launchers or whatever we could fire upon the taken guardian. This would be named Oryx Fate or The Taken's Burden My God, I created my own hype train. Stahp, please. Halp :'(

I feel like we're still left with questions unanswered with Eris. Last I remember we got her those eyes and then she said something about seeing darkness? Not too sure but she sound a bit corrupted or on some good shit. Either way we need answers.

1 답변Here's a real spoiler. The taken king is based on the movie with Liam Nelson. The movie is called taken and the star is a guy-> kings are guys, hence Taken King The story of the expansion will be you rescuing your daughter from some Ukrainian human traffickers, possibly played by the fallen house of badguy.

If this is the story, I will cry. This actually sounds interesting. I highly doubt Bungie wrote something that is interesting. Halo and Destiny both have "meh" storylines. Let's hope that this is not the case for The Taken King, but let's also hope that they don't make us fight those people without context. A lot of people don't read their Grimoire cards. They would be like "Okay. Cool." There'd be no significance to it. The storytelling has to improve with the next expansion or the series will end way before their 10 year plan does.

14 답변All I see here is lazy enemy design... Bungie - "We should make a new enemy race" Activision - "OR, we could make a race that consists of the guys we have in the game already, call them the taken, re color, and ship, -blam!-ing genius *highfives*" Bungie - "*sigh* I guess, we're gonna charge the same for DLC right?" Activision - "-blam!- IT! DOUBLE THE PRICE!!! *lights up cigar*"
