There's been a lot of discussion about ToO, and one of the more popular ideas to solve problems with this game's lack of skill-based matchmaking was "Make the 9-0ers who went Flawless be separated from general matchmaking and fight other Flawless teams?" ... which has mostly been met with vocal opposition by the Lighthousers. My question is why?
Most posts I see that're like "No don't make the flawless teams fight each other!" are usually the same people that try to preach about how ToO is supposed to be a "for the skilled only" and "haha let's wreck scrubs", etc. ... an air of arrogance surrounds them. There's a feeling of genuine accomplishment and superiority they try to convey when talking about their flawless runs. How many flawless runs they did, and so forth. However, when the idea that they may have to fight equally skilled teams that whole bravado is replaced by a resounding protest. Buttholes pucker in fear. Testicles coil upwards as they nervously hammer out a response on the forums.
If ToO is supposed to be a legitimate "the best of the best" PvP Arena event, this is naturally the only way to truly see who's the best team, so if you're actually good then fighting teams of your own skill-tier shouldn't actually be a problem. The only reason why any Lighthouser should be afraid of a "9-0ers Only" matchmaking would be if they were carried to the Lighthouse or built their streak cherry-picking for matches against lower leveled, under-equipped teams. There's no denying the logic that the true Crucible beasts should be just fine when fighting teams of the same skill, unless they weren't as good as they claim to be.
So what's a legitimate counter-argument to the proposal of a "9-0ers Only" matchmaking?

Its not that we dont want to fight eachother. The toughest games are the most rewarding. But I dont want to fight top players exclusively just because I have been to the lighthouse! You play against the ones you are matched up with. Some games are easy, some are hard! No backing out, no complaining! Everyone is equal, that is that!

1 답변Went 9-0 the first two weeks. Last weeks map just stomped my fireteam and I. But I agree skill based matchmaking would be the best bet. Anyone try matchmaking in the new elimination mode? How'd it go?

1 답변작성자: Guardian0823 6/10/2015 3:54:39 PMIt's competitive. I'm straight shite at pvp. I enjoy it though. I get your question . I just think that the players who wreck other teams shouldn't have to be designated or separated from the field of players because of their skill. If you come into the trials and you are crappy like my team, you get wiped. Do I think it's unfair? No, because trials was never advertised as a crucible event for everyone. It was supposed to be for the best teams . It sucks that people cheat. But assuming everyone cheats is inaccurate. If the best teams happen to meet, then the best will win. It's like a community college team bitching that they aren't invited to the Rose Bowl. I think later as games get established, tourneys are held in the real world for real loot. But for in game content, this is as close to a trophy as great pvp gamers get. I don't have a problem with it. edited a misspelled word

I think it should be a blend of both A skill tier for 0-3wins A skill tier for 4-6 A skill tier for 7-8 Although I don't see the 9-0 legit teams as scared but more as defenders wiping out teams that aren't good enough and just need to practice more either individually or as a team. However the skill tiers would allow more players to possibly hit at least the armor buyouts. I've been on teams where we never needed our mercy and I've been on teams that barely made it to silver package The difference is communication and team work and playing off of each other's strength while covering each other's weaknesses. Cycling supers is very important too. The silver package teams tend to rage at every other variable aside from them making a mistake or facing someone that's a better sniper/ or uses their grenades properly etc While the lighthouse teams give useful information on where and how many enemies there are. I'll never forget we coordinated our supers we were down 3-4 in Mercury and one of my buddies popped his purifier robes to blind one close to him, that distracted the two snipers that were pinning me and gave me time to death from above them and we let our gunslinger pick up the orbs to shut out the next round and we won. I'm not against having 9-0's being isolated But how are you (the teams that haven't gone to lighthouse) going to get better by facing people that you'll be able to beat. Sure keep us 9-0's out but just like there are better teams than you, there are worse teams than you too. Maybe you'll get your lighthouse but you won't learn a thing from them

28 답변작성자: HOLY REGIME 6/10/2015 3:58:17 PMYour missing the point. Then lower ability scrubs will be able to make it so then they will join the higher ranks and get whooped. Every week thousands of none deserving scrubs enter the lighthouse and get emblems and gear that wasn't earned. Trials was made easier and scrubs on the forums talk about how easy it was and pump your head up like your actually good but your not. Sure you made it to the lighthouse but if I was there i would have made sure you never played trials again

작성자: JAWSH 6/10/2015 4:56:21 PMCouldn't cut it. So now you wanna bash people who have made it. Try going 9-0 no boons. It ain't easy, see some serious try hards and each match isn't the same as the last. There are some real talented players on destiny and winning against them is pretty bad ass. Get good and stop complaining.

작성자: Ne0nK0ala 6/10/2015 4:50:12 PMWe already do, we just need the scrubs and the cheaters to stop spawning and and we will be good. Crucible is matchmaking at its purest form, you have to be ready to fight anyone no matter their skill, location or connection. Thats how online gaming works. If you arent ready to do all of them things then why the -blam!- are you on an online game? Why are you not prepared to fight those who went flawless? Surely that is the ultimate test of your skill, not fighting noobs, so why dont you want to do it? Any good pvper will tell you that it is only from your worst games that you learn how to create your best games. And thats not coming from me, honestly im average. Thats coming from top players in destiny like triplewreck and from other games like counter strike, call of duty etc.

If its for rewards after you to the light house, sure. If its not, then everyone would be going flawless. It would punish players for doing well. I don't have a problem with getting matched with flawless teams sometimes, but all the time?
-
I too think those who complete a flawless passage should only play other teams who've completed flawless. They say the ToO is the best of the best. PROVE IT. A filter of this sorts would end this debate. I also think there are teams out there who are supremely talented at this game and enjoy "pub stomping" and ruining other's experience. Granted, if you get "wrecked" they were better no doubt but why play a game for no rewards unless your reward is taking away from others. This would also even the playing field later in the weekend for those who aren't as talented.

4 답변I don't think that kind of match making is good idea. Some flawless teams will never go flawless again. But instead if u go flawless on that character that character cannot get another passage. Simple. Problem solved.

9 답변Same reason they keep playing after they go flawless to keep others from getting there. They are scum.

The Trials itself should be the trials to get to the best of the best tournament that would be on Mercury. That should be an exclusive PVP event that occurs for all of the 9-0 teams with exclusive rewards available to those teams in the Best of the Best tournament. I even have ideas on what to do for the ultimate PVP tournament. If that is done then the best teams will be busy enough once they are in the Lighthouse.

1 답변The ToO matchmaking should be similar to the Swiss Style Tournament matchmaking similar to Magic: The Gathering. That way the best play the best and the worst play the worst in hopes to "stay in the game". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss-system_tournament

작성자: stealthkiller22 6/10/2015 4:13:58 PMwe already do check my trials history I even got 14 kd against a team who went flawless in trials which I found funny also why do some people whinge about not making lighthouse this week lance is selling helmets all u need is 5 wins on trials card u can lose up to 4 times with mercy boon factored in u can still get gold tier package which can net great rewards can get armor piece from it or weapon for 8 wins . sure flawless has some other cool rewards just got practice get a decent team that knos wat to do

1 답변I want skill based matchmaking because it's the close games that are just more fun than the landslide victories. No one enjoys going 0-5.

11 답변Easy fix: once that character had turned in a 9-0 ticket (or even three of them just so the losers can feel great about needlessly playing just to spoil it for other people) they can't play trials anymore that weekend. There's no trials rep to be gained, so they're not cut off from anything important. They've gotten their gear and can't get anymore so they're not missing out. They're just playing to serve their own egos.
I'm terrible at pvp. I've gotten better and actually had a pretty good iron banner with my warlock and hunter. Even if this happened I wouldn't get to 9-0 very quickly or maybe ever.
Guys playing trials the entire weekend with the whole point being nothing but spoiling a chance at 9-0 for others is a bit ridiculous. On the flip side, make trials a one time ticket every week. Once you lose, you lose. No turning in a ticket and getting another. 9-0 players are done, but so are people that don't make it. THAT would make the trials truly unique and challenging even for the best. Commence "trophies for everyone" flame posts......... NOW (even though that's not at all what I'm arguing).
