Like I said before in other threads, there only gamers. There is no gamer girl or gamer guy. Gamer is a unisex term, and does not directly refer to one sex. I personally, as a guy, hate the term "gamer girl". A person of any gender who plays and enjoys playing games on a PC or console based platform is consider a gamer.

Personally I just use the term "gamer for anybody who plays games often.

If women are girl gamers then men are boy gamers.

Well based on your description, you do indeed sound like someone with the title of gamer. Not saying you're a "gamer girl" whatever that means. But you are a normal gamer.

My little sister is in high school, and Left 4 Dead has been one of her favorite games ever since it came out. I bought the L4D health pack for her at a Con we went to earlier this year, and she loved it. She wore her backpack to her high school. Some people complimented on it. Then she passed by a group of guys that started asking her questions like Do you even play? Can you hold the controller properly?...then they said, "you must be one of those gamer girls that takes pictures with their controllers and can't even play"...My sister just walked away from those jerks and didn't say a word.

So, you're a Gamer then? You collect consoles and state that you could wreck me in a game of CoD. I call myself a Gamer and I don't do that. I play for a few hours a day, not stay up till the early hours of the morning, but I still consider myself to be a Gamer. I get what you're saying, that you don't want attention for being from a gender that makes up 40% of the gaming community, but really, you could just say to people, "I don't like the term, Gamer Girl" or "I'm not a Gamer" despite the shockingly strong evidence of at least being a Gamer. You didn't have to make this long post stating that you hate the term Gamer Girl. But you did. And like someone else said, this really draws attention to you being a girl. Why would you make a post saying that you don't like drawing attention to yourself, when all it would do is draw attention to yourself? I can understand that you would indeed make this post so that people wouldn't harass you as much, but it won't reach as many people as you might hope. I personally don't like the term Gamer Girl. It's just a gender, get over it. You should get over it too, if you can. If you can, good, you've stepped above what most Gamer Girls do and use the label to draw attention. If you can't, then i have lost all respect for you. TL;DR: You're at least a Gamer and this post may or may not have met your goals.
