Simply change the Mark of the Devourer perk so that damage over time does not affect Guardians. Would this not solve the biggest issue with this weapon?
Edit.
I've received a few other interesting ideas in this thread:
● make it so mark has a chance of activating not guaranteed.
● only the first round does DoT
● have an armour perk that denies DoT.

There is nothing wrong with Thorn. If you simply don't like it. Deal with it. If you can't get one. That's your own fault PvP will be whittled down to nothing if you people keep bitching about every gun that's worth a shit. First it was Suros and now we've basically gone through every Exotic. Instead of nerfing even MORE weapons. Post something in #feedback about a PvP mode that has no exotics allowed. No supers either just Autorifles and Shotguns. Then maybe the rest of us can have some peace.

15 답변The only problem with Thorn is people need something to blame on their deaths. If it's not Thorn it will be shotguns, or Red Death or lag. You get the point. It's the "I'm MLGproNoscope1337" generation and nobody wants to think it's their fault for not taking cover or running out in the open. I rarely die by a thorn user and never die because of just the poison killing me, and I suck at Crucible.

22 답변Reposting, again Alright let me walk you through this The gun we have now, is nearly identical to the gun we had at launch. What changed? Mag increased from 6 to 9 Reload speed increased by a fair bit As well as a tiny buff to Stability and Weapon Handling The damage however, along with the DoT, was exactly the same And the general playerbase considered it trash. (seriously, I was continually mocked, ridiculed, and kicked for using it) The buff it got? Did nothing but make it easier to use, which means more people are comfortable picking it up. Now, before the buff, the "accidental" DoT nerf from 7 per tick to 3 per tick just before one IrB. The gun was useless. I'd actually done fairly well with it up to that point, it was my main PvP weapon. It was hard to use, and I enjoyed the challenge of mastering it. And then they nerfed it, and it. was. unusable. I tried, and tried, but the fact of the matter was, without the DoT exactly where it is, the gun is trash. (New addendum, using it this last Iron Banner, going against anyone higher than myself, like 31vs32 caused the DoT to drop to 6 per tick instead of 7, again this made it totally worthless.) Another point, do you know what I most commonly hear people say its great for? For doing the postmortem bounty because it's great at getting postmortem kills. ... ... ...
because it's great at getting postmortem kills

getting postmortem kills

postmortem
Postmortem. As in it's great at getting kills after the other guy has blown you (or I) to ash. It's a great gun to get outgunned with! Wait what? If it was so badly OP it wouldn't be so good at getting you Postmortems. Do you know what it really is? Fricking annoying to die to. And the problem with a gun that's fricking annoying to die to, is that you take notice of deaths to that weapon far more than any other weapon. You could get killed by Shingen-E 15 times in a match, get killed by Thorn 5 times, and you'll come rage on the forums about Thorn being OP and everyone using nothing but Thorn. You can go against a team where only a single opponent has it, but you'll rage about how the whole team used it. I've played with people who did exactly that. "The whole effing other team is using X OP weapon!!" I check. It's one guy. I watch the kill ticker. He dies to an even mix of other players, but he only rages when its the guy with X OP weapon. It's called Confirmation Bias And it means, basically, that you see what you want or expect to see. I outgun it frequently with various guns, and I frequently outgun other guns with it. The Thorn is not OP.

While I don't like complaining about buffs/nerfs, it is a little ridiculous that Thorn is a guaranteed two-shot kill, with a faster RoF than Hawkmoon. The DoT keeps your enemies from regaining health longer than normal, so it's absurd that the gun gives you the ability to chase them down longer than normal, but is also one of the fastest killing primaries in the game. Again, I don't like complaining for buffs and nerfs, as i can still fight back against thorn users just fine- but it doesn't make sense to me that it does the crazy-high damage per shot, when it has DoT. It would make more sense if it did a lot less damage BECAUSE it has DoT.

So the gun was utterly useless before....bungie buffs it up....and now people want it nerfed? I do not understand all the complaining about weapons that people think dominate in crucible. Last night a guy in the lobby was ranked 1st every match and he was using a shingen-e auto rifle. Just stop complaining publicly about weapons u do not want to use in crucible. This community is such trash now

Reduce dot damage and get rid of one of the ticks. So it does 4 or 5 dot and ticks 4 times. Increase recoil. decrease rof. Any of these three will make the gun level. All three would be a major NERF and I don't think that should be the case

작성자: Life is a Game 5/14/2015 7:47:30 PMAll of your suggestions would be horrible choices. I don't use thorn, I do hate the gun, but if they were to going to nerf thorn the only thing they should do is remove perfect balance and replace it with a different perk and maybe make the DoT have a range drop off

7 답변How to balance the Thorn: Reduce per shot DMG by 50% increase burn duration by 1 second and DMG by 25%. Now takes 5 shots and burn to kill in PvP.

작성자: j0ri1337 5/14/2015 7:24:05 PMmaybe the weapons arent balanced, but everybody can Play with them(yes you Need some hours grinding) so in the end: how could it be more balanced than two guardians fighting each other with the Same weapon (or the few other "op" weapons) best aiming wins ps. i hate These laggs in pvp&pve

look I'm going to relate this to mine craft and I'm sorry but here me out. what if it only left you at very low health like those tiny spider basters in mine craft? that way its still a cool perk but if you run and find cover you can recover (that rhymed :D)

My only real problem with Thorn is the the range when "Send It" is activated and people can 2 shot you from across the map like they're using a scout/sniper rifle. Other than that, Thorn is fine and if you're decent you can usually win in a gun battle against it

25 답변Can I offer an easy solution to the Thorn "problem"? There isn't a Thorn problem, there's a cry baby Guardian problem though!
