I have my hunter ready to go and I'm confident in myself that I can do it.
I've managed to get a few hits in solo, heck, I'd be able to solo the raid as a whole if it wasn't for Crota.
But NO-ONE cares about a novice Swordbearer.
How did you start?
How can I start?
I know HOW to Swordbear, I just feel like I'd cock it up majorly.
Edit: Just thought I'd add, I'm on XB1 and my GT is CCXGT.
I'm usually on after 12pm GMT if anyone's interested.
Edit 2: So I've met this amazing guy, 'JagerMorder91' who is willing to teach me and be patient with me.
We ran through CE Normal 3 times yesterday, each time him being the Swordbearer, he then took me to the Sword of Crota mission and taught me the basics.
We're gonna take a shot at it later on today and hopefully I won't cock it up too badly!

Just don't tell them that you're a novice. Pretend you're an old hand at this and feign confidence. All swordbearers wipe, they won't be surprised at that. And if you do die a lot, blame glitches. They happen enough that you won't be questioned.

How our team chose me: "Alright, who wants to take the relic?" . . . "Oh fine you p******." Grab* For crota: "Ok, whose sword bearer?" -"A hunter needs to do it." Only hunter in the game* "Really. I'm the only one?"

I was the only hunter among my friends when we tried for the first time. I recommend playing with a group of close friends who are cool with you practising or say on LFG that you're gonna be sword bearing for your first time. And start on easy.

I was always a beast with the relic in vog so when my group tried crotas end on release I got thrown into it lol. I'd help you out but unfortunately I'm on ps4. You just have to be aware of your surroundings and don't be greedy

Always been the relic holder in my groups. So it was just a given that they had me run sword. And my first Crota kill was with my Titan. Second was with my lock. Then the Hunter. All are the same in my eyes, only difference is blink. But im 50+ kills in and still smashing his face with all 3. **The best feeling was when a group asked for a SB and i showed up with my Titan, and they all thought it was a joke. We wiped 4 times due to others dying and not taking out oversoul... i told them all to sit in Crystal room and watch.. dropped my own bubble next to boomers, dropped Crota myself.. said youre welcome and left immediately**

I don't run it much anymore since I'm not that great and there's usually already a swordbearer when I join a group.

Just paid attention when our BOSS swordbearer did his thing... Asked a few questions... Had the right gear set up... And had a good group willing to let me practice. Didn't need much though, did it first run. Do it on normal first, just for the practice.

Well I started when no one don't want to pick up the sword, so I said, -blam!- it, I'll do it! I carried a team of 5 by soloing crota myself, shooting gally to take down his shield. While the team of 5 sit back under the Crystal room

In the tower handing in bounties and engrams then got called in by another fireteam. We flew into orbit and they said "you're gonna be our swordbearer and take down Crota." i replied with a "wtf im not a sword bearer!!" Since im a hunter they would think that. I asked "whats the difficulty?" It was hard mode. I was ready to say sorry and leave! But then i heard the fireteam leader speak up and he told me "You can do it Undead! We believe in you and we got your back if anything happens!" It only took two attempts! I've been sword bearing for 3 months now. :)

I read about how to do it. Then one day no one had done it before so I quickly volunteered. Took a couple tries but I got it. My second try was on hard. Had he guy walk me through the differences and give me some great tips. The group did Crota first try. Gave me the confidence I needed so I usually volunteer now. It really, really helps to have a good group shooting rockets your first couple times. That means they listen and shoot at the right times. Timing is key, otherwise you end up standing next to Crota when he isn't down (late rockets suck). So as much as people joke about the ease of just shooting rockets, those guys doing their job makes running sword much easier, and easier to learn.
