  • Amen. Auto rifles are nothing that they used to be. I can't bear using a pulse rifle or scout rifle to substitute the void that used to be filling my enemies to the bone with lead. BUNGIE HEAR OUR PLEAS!!!

    • No tracking on Dragon's Breath. The perk is becoming gimmicky to the point that no one wants a launcher that doesn't have it. At the most I'd say proximity to encourage having to lead your target, or making the solar flares sticky or with maybe twice the radius.

      • I'm a hand canon user so The last word: the range is small enough. In fact I think it should be left alone completely. The gun kills very fast so the recoil is good enough to be controlled and fair but not so much it's like your using a full auto shotgun. The thorn. I love this gun. But i do admit it's op. The range is fine but three bullets to kill? The clip size is fine. But i say it's four bullets to kill instead.

        • Let me start by saying that I occasionally use Thorn, so I might be slightly biased. However, I know that if this thread was made mainly for ToO, you'd know that the map you play on is not that large! People have been complaining about being "outsniped" by Thorn in ToO, that's because the map caters to a close-mid ranged battle! Thorn no longer out ranges sniper rifles, you just can't go into a mid-close range map and expect to get off Scott free with a sniper rifle. As for the size of the clip/magazine/whatever, I'd leave it at 9. 9 makes it usable in PvE, 7 does not, so if you want a gun that you can use in either pve or pvp, then don't bother with the of those nerfs. Instead, I'd suggest increasing recoil and either fire rate or reload speed as there IS a glaring issue with people using it as a crutch in PvP.

            • Brilliant post, I agree with almost everything said here, very good ideas. I do want to point out that these ideas are only concerning PvP, so we have to remember that when decreasing the range of things like Auto rifles, the last word the blast radius of grenades (including lightning and trip mine grenades) and shotgun spread, the nerf is not carried over to PvE. I also don't agree with the reduced clip size on the thorn because it's already under powered in PvE because of its low clip, unless they add an optional perk that brings up the clip size in exchange for impact or the poisonous effect, I think it would wreck it too much. Besides that, special ammo's spawn rate needs to be reduced, the vex should be given slightly less stability, and heavy ammo should be dropped from enemy players who previously possessed it.

Assault rifles need to maintain higher damage at closer distances. Range should be the biggest changing variable in what affects the damage output of an assualt rifle the most. Instead of reducing damage reduce range to a point where assault rifles can shine better at closer ranges and begin to suffer at mid distance (depending on the stats of course). I would also suggest changing how Assault rifle recoil works, making it slightly decrease overtime naturally while shooting and aiming down the sights. [u]Shotgun balancing[/u] -Increase Shotgun spread. A suggestion similiar to fusion rifles, this makes it more difficult to kill moving targets without being close enough. This makes shotgun users play more in their gun's strengths. Stats such as stability will become a bigger factor in realigning and landing shots for the kill. This makes timing and positioning more essential in many more situations. [spoiler]Shotgun blinkers need to have better positioning when landing shots from above, the higher they are the less likely they are to get the immediate kill because of the higher spread. Helps balance perks like shot package more naturally[/url][/spoiler] Fusion rifles benefit from this allowing them more space/comfort in the field to successfully get kills. Players using shotguns will depend more on the stats of the weapon rather than the perks. [u]The Last Word and the Thorn adjustment[/u] [u]The Last word[/u]: -Reduce the range -Increase stability Firing it's first shots after aiming treats the bullets fired as hipfire shots. This is a strength of the hand cannon making it more consistent close up. However too much range is given to this gun allowing it to abuse that strength from further outside it's most effective areas(mid-close). A slight range decrease so impact is reduced more immediately from outside of its strength zones is necessary. I recommend an increase in stability for the loss of range so the weapon won't be hindered while selecting different upgrades for your play style. [u]The Thorn[/u]: -Reduce bullets in the chamber from 9 to 7 -Reduce the range This weapon supports a cqc to mid play style, it is a three shot kill, has a faster reload speed after the update, and a higher fire rate with the possibility of a two shot kill. Minusing two bullets from the handcannon's chamber reduces the damage output overtime by making the player reload more often, forcing them to land shots more skillfully. With this the [i]final round[/i] perk would be more effective. Reducing the range will make players choose between [i]Send it[/i]- accurately and carefully placing shots to kill effectively because of the lower stability, or [i]Perfect Balance[/i]- allowing them to hammer away shots landing criticals more consistently in one place but at the cost of being less effective farther away due to lack of range. Otherwise [i]Snapshot[/i] would be used for players that are more on the move. [u]No land beyond buff[/u] [u]General Changes [/u] -Remove the glint -Reduce the sway -Reduce ADS zoom by 10-15% -Reduce range for more impact -Decrease the bullet chambering time -Armor piercing rounds that stagger [u]Upgrade/Perk Changes[/u] -Replace mulligan with Unflinching -"The Master" perk instead increases damage after [i]every[/i] shot landed for 3 seconds, on the next shot fired. This will stack up to twice. Meaning landing two shots in a row will increase the damage of your third shot making it the most deadly. -Add zoom while crouching to "The Master" perk. [spoiler] Body shots with the NLB in crucible should start at 171. Shots landed increase the damage from 171 to 198, then to 230 via " The Master" perk. This becomes helpful while taking down vehicles. It also makes for a more viable weapon in pve further increasing it's damage for every shot landed.[/spoiler] [u]The Necrocasm buff[/u] - Increase clip size from 42 up to 60 -Make curse thrall explosion consistent -Slight stability boost -(General) Auto rifle adjustment [u]Dragon's Breath Buff[/u] -Add Tracking -Add burn damage to solar flares [u]Super Good Advice buff[/u] -Increase stability This weapon's stability was increased during a previous patch, but it still remains to inconsistent to be deemed an exotic. All Other heavy machine guns beat this gun in 3 to 4 stat categories as well. An because of the upgrade paths no build aside from a stability build works for this weapon, this is due to the amount of recoil produced by the fire rate. [u]Red Death[/u] -Reduce the stability [u]Word of Crota buff[/u] -2 critical shots chamber 1 bullet -Adjust the sights, aiming is somewhat crooked. None of the weapons I'm speaking on are suggested to be nerfed in a way that hurts it's essential performance. The gameplay they promote will be some what altered, but the performance as far as play styles and how they are depicted do not change.                           • You forgot to tell how to nerf felwinters crutch. The answer? Reduce impact and range. It's a fusion rifle with no charge time basically with the same range as one.

                            • I don't know about putting tracking on Dragon's Breath. It would be hard to place the rockets at the perfect spots to deal the most damage. [spoiler]One good example is trapping a boss in a corner.[/spoiler]

                              • I would like to see a damage decrease on the burn effect from thorn in PVP (not pve) from 7 to 5 since that is what gets most of us killed, 2 well placed shots and the person can start running away, while the victim can stop trying since he will die anyway

                                I would add that Fusion Rifles need a PvE damage bonus. (Read people: PvE, don't scream at me lol) The recent shotgun PvE buff made a lot of fusions obsolete. I think more damage would entice more players to start using fusions again in PvE. Edit: I don't know if you only play on Xbox, but the Hawkmoon is just as bad as the Thorn and TLW. All of them need to be addressed. Also, Final Round on snipers and Clown Cartridge on heavy weapons shouldn't be a thing. They break the game.

                                  • IMO a couple of nerfs and buffs that should be done: -Thorn's burn or impact should be weakened. -Maybe give felwinters a slight chill pill. Buffs: -Auto rifles could use a slight boots in damage. -No land beyond could use a ton of work.
